I was 23 when this show came out, I still love it! The 1980s was a great time to be a young adult. Such great music, and we had Bruce Willis, Kurt Russell, and Harrison Ford as heartthrobs. I love a leading man who's also funny as heck!
I used to wait all week for the next episode. I would walk my dog, Sammi, (Samantha), 30 minutes before Moonlighting would come on, so that I wouldn't miss a second. I even had the soundtrack on vinyl. I now have it on CD. I loved the black & white episode where Cybil was singing: "I Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out!" Awesome! 👏👏🎼🎤 I really miss The 80s!
This is actually showing on Hulu right now. I am re-watching it. I haven’t seen it since it first ran back in the 80s. I was in my 20s and living in Boston way back then. So fun.
Can't go wrong with The Temptations!!! And in season 2 ep 6, "Knowing Her," with guest star Dana Delany, I fell in love with "This Old Heart of Mine" by The Isley Brothers, featured in the episode. 💖💖💖💖💖
Same here. It just hit Hulu, and I'm only watching the first three. I remember back in the day when there were a lot of breaks between episodes, and Bruce hit big with Die Hard, Cybill got pregnant and they had to film around it. It lost the spark, but man, what a spark.
@@Nhamp2000I've been binge watching it on hulu. I was 8 years old when it was a brand new show and I knew about it but I didn't really sit and watch it. I'm enjoying it!
I've had this clip in my head for yrs and yrs but never looked it up because I'd find, like all things as a kid, it wouldn't be the same! Yall know what I mean! Here's the thing, I stumbled on this, watched, then remembered, this is that bit! Hell yeah! Awesome! People just do random! Don't think! Just do!......nothing stupid though ya hear! I'm going to read watch goodnight 😆😴
I used to watch Moonlighting every week. Sometimes I would tape it on my VCR. There was so much sexual tension between David and Maddie that by the time they hooked up I think it brought the end of the show.
Yasiel Puig It DID spell the end. It just took another two agonizingly dreary seasons for the patient to die. I’ve said this before and I still contend to this day that the show should have ended with “I Am Curious... Maddie”. (That, and _Designing Women_ only had five seasons.)
It didn't have to. They could have built on that consummation, and shown us a really interesting relationship. I think Moonlighting's issue wasn't the consummation, it was that right after, the two stars had to stop doing scenes together, (CS was pregnant and needed time off, and BW was working on movies), and the writing went in a strange direction, less cases, more relationship drama. By the time CS returned, the momentum had gone. The episode after this one, "To Heiress Human", is a good one, with them trying to balance work and personal life. In hindsight, I wish they'd waited until CS returned, and then had Maddie and David hook up for the first time, followed by a season of good writing.
@@Silver_OwlI agree. I think the writers just plain blew it. Good writers can keep the interest going after consummation without a permanent breakup or other catastrophic plot devices if they are creative enough. It’s like they simply choked after the main turning point that the show basically hinged on had been accomplished and they couldn’t see any other way out of Cybill’s pregnancy than the predictable route. Colossal mistake (as was having the consummation happen while Cybill was visibly pregnant). Turns out people who tuned in for campy comedy and sexy banter didn’t want to watch the heartbreak of miscarriage or to see Maddie and David as platonic, frenemy exes who happened to work at the same job. What a letdown after all that build up. After that amazing speech David gave to Mr. Hayes, it’s criminal what they did to them. They turned both characters (yes, David too) into people we didn’t know anymore.
@@iwillstom Completely agreed. I still wonder about some of the writing decisions in those later seasons. CS needed the time off, so why consummate right before that needed break, knowing she wouldn't be around to help develop the relationship? Yes, I remember the amazing David speech, one of the best things about the later seasons. I think about "Four billion people in this world, half of them built for comfort, and I got to pick this one to want to grow old with" fairly often - it's such a perfect expression of love. Thanks by the way - I just went to rewatch that scene, maybe for the first time since it aired for me back in the 80s. Still great.
They did every trick in the book to fill time to make up for always being short. Imagine if they’d actually done a full 46 minutes and 22 episodes per season, at least for the first three..
Still one of the best tv show's ever.

The need to add a bit to a show that was running short gave us gems, like this one, where we learned Cybil had some real moves.
So cool - Moonlighting, Temptations, Al Jarreau theme song that I adored - what a show!❤❤

Never duplicated. One of a kind that transcends time.
God I loved this show. I was teenager... in the UK during its first run there in the 80s. It seemed impossibly glamorous and fantastic.

Funny duet, Bruce Cybil awesome
Moonlighting is coming to Hulu October 10th, the theme song is included, some other songs throughout the episodes may not be available.
Loved the theme song, and the first 3 seasons. After that, it was hot-or-miss for me.

Well yeah that was sexual harassment even though we didn't have the language back then 🏳️🌈
