I worked at Warner, in production and development for 15 years, and I swear I felt that sense of presence and child like awe for most of my tenure there. And I was very much alone in that! So many jaded, self obsessed people that didn't realize how lucky they were. I'm so glad you had that magic moment and it still brings you such joy. That's what life is all a out, in my opinion.
Yes I fully understand, it is why I fly to LA on vacation every year to place myself on memorable locations that made an imprint in my ear.y life, just standing and reminiscing brings me overwhelming joy.
I worked as a background extra on 2 episodes...one was on a Friday, and I saw myself on the show the following Tuesday night. We extras would sit with the crew, waiting for script pages to show up. The turnaround time for the show's editors was, well, unusual for a weekly series. Another time, we shot on the day of the Oscars. Cybill was happy to be released early as she had a party invitation. A number of us extras had to stay later...we had been shooting at a bar in an LAX hotel. We extras and Bruce were able to sit at the bar watching the Oscars on the TV while the crew finished setting up the final scenes for the day.
"We extras and Bruce were able to sit at the bar ...." I'm curious if Bruce was accessible. I don't mean that he would talk to the extras, but that he didn't purposefully separate himself from them?
@@johnabbottphotography Bruce Willis used to be a bartender in New York. So I believe that story, because by all accounts he was very friendly in those days. Especially with the ladies.
@@johnabbottphotography Hi John... we extras were always instructed to 'not speak to the lead actors' because none of us wanted to distract them in any way. Both Cybill and Bruce spoke 1 or 2 sentences to me in passing... it's a lot of waiting around, long days and you could see the actors getting tired. Sherry Rivera visited as we were sitting around the bar watching the Oscars, Bruce was very affectionate with her. The crew liked Bruce.
@@pinkparasollise9646 I've been on a bunch of sets as an extra, and they always told us the same thing, and I respected that rule. I honestly don't remember what he said, because I was so busy trying *not* to talk to him. But I just remember the feeling that he wanted to be a regular guy. I could see Bruce being that way as well.
@@johnabbottphotography Yeah, I did a lot of extra work at that time, talked to many lead actors. Rodney Dangerfield wished me a happy b-day (it WAS my birthday) on the set of his BACK TO SCHOOL movie. Robert Downey Jr. also said 'hi' to me...he was in that movie. I did a NERDS movie, spoke to Curtis (who was also on MOONLIGHTING). The bar scene was the only time in my life that I got to work with about 12 pro stuntpeople. Bruce started a bar fight, and I had to run through the chaos!
My goodness, this was a fabulous show! I was crazy about it from episode one and it made my week every time! The whole cast was amazing! They just don't make shows like this anymore and didn't even back then! Love "Moonlighting"!
This show teased the “Will they or won’t they” for what seemed like FOREVER. It was literally 2 years of foreplay!! I was a Teacher Assistant at an elementary school. I worked with a Second grade teacher. I’ll never forget that morning after Dave and Maddie finally consummated their relationship. I walked into the classroom at 8:00 a.m. The teacher and I looked at each other and we both said “THEY FINALLY DID IT” in unison. No good morning. That was our greeting. Don’t worry, the kids had no clue what we were talking about. Everybody was watching that show back then! If it was on now, Social Media would’ve gone nuts!
I remember going to school the next day too, but as a student. ''How is this going to change the show?'' None of my friends had watched. They all preferred Growing Pains. 😔
Yes! Watched it in my Christian college dorm public lobby, with a bunch of people. When they actually said both B words, the group gasp was huge! Up to that point, those words had not been said in Prime TV of the big three. Now it's common place.
I watched the show with my mom when I was a teenager. One of the few shows we watched together. Lately, I’ve been bingeing the show on Hulu. She passed away last year. She would’ve loved watching it again.
I was also a teenager during this shows run. Im looking up old bruce willis interviews and im binge watching moonlighting on tubi. Amazing how the show is giving me that feeling of being back in that time. Ive even cried at some of the nostalgic feelings that its giving me, which would be ok if i was a lil school girl, but ima grown ass man dawg😅💪🏽✌🏽

I was born in the mid 80s so I've watched this show for the first time in 90s when i was 8-9 yo. That atmosphere of 80s is so special and this crew, Bruce and Cybil and others, they brought the feeling like you know them for ages, like they are homies for every viewer of the show. Such warmth and smiles
I love the theme song. Still, listen to that. And all these memories come rushing back. I was a young lad then dating. Got married to her. Moonlighting memories of late 1980s. Thanks guys.
Thank you ✨ I can’t believe Moonlighting hasn’t been in syndication the last 30 years. 900 cable channels, 25 streaming services, no Moonlighting to be seen.
We are so lucky to have this reunion given Bruce Willis' illness. Given how well this went, I think they may have had a proper Moonlighting ending. I say this because I remember hearing that a year before this was filmed, Bruce & Cybill ran into each other in a coffee shop & talked for hours. That's how this video and her appearing on Bruce's Roast came to be. They had honestly buried the hatchet. My heart breaks for Bruce and his loved ones most of all and it also breaks because we really may have just missed seeing a Moonlighting reunion with a proper send off.
I was a little kid when this show was originally on…my parents thought it was funny that I always wanted to watch it! Now I’m 41 and I have all the seasons on DVD and it never gets old! Will always be one of my favorites 💕
I was in 3rd grade when Moonlighting first went on the air. My whole family loved this show and watched the entire series. Even as a kid I could appreciate the extraordinary writing and high-level humor. It was so special and completely stood out from the rest of what was on TV. Probably the coolest show of the 80s!
I worked on this show at ABC in NYC. The acts were sent to NY by landlines and we put the show together on tape, integrated it with commercials and fed it to air. They were always late sending the show in and I remember one night integrating the second half of the show while the first half was on the air.
my wife's sister, Suzanne Waite was Script Supervisor on Moonlighting. Suzanne is the daughter of Ralph Waite, most known for the Waltons... 23:00 Mark Harmon worked with Ralph on NCIS. she passed away and all her things she collected from her time in the industry, we now have. Suzanne would take pictures of ever thing she worked on. Suzanne has about 60 HQ Pictures of the Atomic Shakespeare episode... Behind the Scenes awesomeness.
Our family watched the series together from the first episode. The show was so different and always had something unexpected. Very witty, very intelligent. It is a one of a kind tv show that was properly place in the 80s.
The "Taming of the Shrew" was my absolute favorite episode, which is saying a lot. I think about that episode all the time, and it had one of the best cover songs from the series. Loved it.

Bruce is no longer acting due to his dementia. Cybill Shepherd was asked if she would ever consider reprising the Maddie Hayes role. Her response was "not without Bruce." This was a few years ago that she said that.
There were some amazing shows at that time but this was one of the best because it had so many elements to it. We all knew the stars of it weren't friends but you could never see it on film. They both worked hard to make the show the best it could be and it showed the shows were hysterical, emotional, fast paced, and none of the who done it storyline were obvious. Still one of the top 10 shows I ever watched and I've been watching shows for 55 years now.

We were taken on an amazing ride with each episode and it was no wonder everyone clamoured for more. It was like tasting ice cream for the first time and we all got our very own favourite flavour, so it was difficult to wait to have it again. Most people don’t know how complex production is for everything we watch, from commercials to television and all the way to cinematic spectaculars. To produce something of this caliber would probably be impossible today, so I’m happy I got to experience it real time. Thank you all for your wonderful work.❤️
The Taming of the Shrew episode is one of my favorite episodes of television of all time. This show was both ahead of its time, and a total throwback. Shorter seasons (for the sake of quality) is very reminiscent of streaming shows, and yet, the banter between David and Maddie reminds us of the classics with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, or William Powell and Myrna Loy.

@@katashley1031 Thank you,Kat!
Yes I fully understand, it is why I fly to LA on vacation every year to place myself on memorable locations that made an imprint in my ear.y life, just standing and reminiscing brings me overwhelming joy.
They shot at fox, right? I worked on the lot for a few seasons and am pretty sure I recognize a few spots.
"We extras and Bruce were able to sit at the bar ...."
I'm curious if Bruce was accessible. I don't mean that he would talk to the extras, but that he didn't purposefully separate himself from them?
@@johnabbottphotography
Bruce Willis used to be a bartender in New York.
@@pinkparasollise9646
I've been on a bunch of sets as an extra, and they always told us the same thing, and I respected that rule.
Having said that, I've been on a couple of sets where the actors wanted to be social on lunch break. A loooong time ago, I was on the set of the Untouchables (the television series reboot), and John Rhys-Davies sat next to me.
I loved watching this show! Even through all it's ups and downs, Cybill and Bruce were magic together!
My goodness, this was a fabulous show! I was crazy about it from episode one and it made my week every time! The whole cast was amazing! They just don't make shows like this anymore and didn't even back then! Love "Moonlighting"!
Me too. I just bought the dvd set with the complete show .
That's because this era sucks.
@@golfillozI just downloaded it from internet.
Remember when it was in the top ten in reruns? Bruce and those wine cooler ads LOL.
@@yvonnecooper5494 I forgot about those wine coolers 😂
@@renaenolen8461 OMG! I remember the first time I heard the B word on a tv show! It was on Dynasty.
Without question the best written and directed one hour shows I have ever seen on network television. And the casting!
Totally agree with you,😊
This show was great! Loved it. The chemistry between Cybill Shepard and Bruce Willis was fantastic.
My childhood was this show. There will never be anything like it ❤️
Now I was born in ‘95, my older brother put me on to this show in my adolescence and it has become my all time favorite show!! Have it all on dvd. I hope more people discover it like me❤
I LOVED this series. I adored Bruce Willis, as soon as I saw him!
One of the best TV shows ever, loved this and " Remington Steele ", the 80s were lit.
I used to love Remington Steele also although it's quite well documented that Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist hated each other's guts and that's why the show was cancelled.
@@VictoriaHannahStudio So sad that shows like that aren't being made today, I also heard that Brosnan and Zimbalist didn't have a good relationship when the show ran, can't even remember any interviews of the two of them together promoting the show..
Don’t forget Miami Vice!
And Scarecrow and Mrs King
Moonlighting, Remington Steele and Chris and Rita on the first 4 seasons of Silk Stalkings. I loved watching these couples on these shows.
I grew up watching MOONLIGHTING in the eighies.great memories.Cybil Shepherd and Bruce Willis were great together.Very funny, very dramatic at the same time.
Bruce and your family, I wish you strength in coping with your struggles, and please know that we love you and are praying for you.🙏
This was my favorite show of the time. I never missed an episode. It was so smartly written & acted. It set the bar for every dramedy after it. Thanks for posting this.
Wow! I loved that show! I never liked detective 🕵 dramas but Moonlighting was so funny, witty and sarcastic comedy! I wish I could see it again! Loved their chemistry together! Certainly, after that Bruce Willis became an action movie star! Thanks for the memories!
It is now available on Hulu. 😊
In high school, my friends and I would talk about the Moonlighting episode the night before. Fun, outstanding show. Miss the 1980s.
I love the theme song.
Still, listen to that.
And all these memories come rushing back.
I was a young lad then dating.
Got married to her.
Moonlighting memories of late 1980s.
Thanks guys.
Most low-rated show? OMG, my friends and I have re-watched the Shakespeare episode SO MANY TIMES!!! It was GENIUS!!!
Thank you ✨ I can’t believe Moonlighting hasn’t been in syndication the last 30 years. 900 cable channels, 25 streaming services, no Moonlighting to be seen.
Oh? It's on UA-cam, for free, on a number of channels, complete episodes, tons of them.
It's because they don't have the rights to some of the music in the episodes. Whoever owns the show needs to pay up so we can watch the shoe again.
It's now on Hulu. Disney/FOX aquired the streaming rights. I'm up to season 2 and it looks like the original music is still intact.
@kevinnelson66 I love the theme song. 😊
Truly one of the great comedies of any era.
I just love how they talk over each other in real life, just like on screen. ♥️😁
One of the best 80s show’s loved it
*One of the best '80s shows. Loved it.
I was a little kid when this show was originally on…my parents thought it was funny that I always wanted to watch it! Now I’m 41 and I have all the seasons on DVD and it never gets old! Will always be one of my favorites 💕
I loved this show. Even then, you knew it was the epitome of the mid-80s.
That sounds nerve racking and AWESOME. congrats!
Lol
Reminds of of the movie Broadcast News, lol.
Fascinating. Meanwhile, we at home had no clue. Thanks for sharing.
We all loved the show! The characters, the chemistry…. The writing, everything coming together
my wife's sister, Suzanne Waite was Script Supervisor on Moonlighting.
I was 15, living in Ukraine, we watched all the episodes with my dad. The music, the actors, the Maddie's waist, Bruce's smile! Best ❤
It is so good to watch this. Moonlighting has always been one of my favorite series. I did not miss one single show.
Loved it.
“Atomic Shakespeare”
I have that episode in my movie playlist.
I remember every episode, Bruce has genius level comedic timing.
I agree! I could tell after the first show that he was going places. I thought the same with Tom Hanks when he was in 'Bosom Buddies'. Their charisma and timing stood out.
@@janetclaireSays bosom buddies was great too, the writing wasn't nearly as good as moonlighting though.
I really enjoyed Hudson hawk, one of my favorites
@@madmagyver9981 oh no, I wouldn't compare the writing between the two! But these are two actors who it was obvious from day 1 of their first tv shows that they had big careers ahead of them.
Maddy: "I don't think..."
David: "...that's ok, you look good".
I'll still use this whenever I'd gives an opportunity. Classic. Was it a Groucho joke, or was it just that perfect?
@@janetclaireSaysFor Tom I would say i knew he'd be a star after his appearance on Family Ties as Uncle Ned. The charisma and vulnerability he got to display showed promise.
I absolutely loved watching this show, there was something very charasmatic and lovely energy between characters. The theme songs was also terrific 👍💖 Thanks to all involved in making this so great "Moonlighting".
Makes me miss the 80s. I turned 30 in ‘87. Totally different world than now.

This was so good. I was happy to see the two of them in the same room together, while enjoying each other’s company. They had such a legendary chemistry. I was 12 years old when Moonlighting went on the air, and I desperately wanted to be David Addison, and Maddie Hayes was my crush. Great show.
Haha, I had the same thoughts. They looked so at ease with each other, and genuinely happy to be together. I was also 12 when it started.... wanted to look like Maddie Hayes. 🙂
I think it is kind of hilarious how many of us were either pre-teen or teen when this was on. Willis was my hero at the time.
@@dr.davidenglish778 I was 12 as well when the show came out. Seeing that promo shot of Cybil in a nighty in our local version of tv guide certainly helped pique my interest. Funny, witty writing kept my interest.
@@JimmyMon666 I was about 15 or so. David Addison was my hero (now I know he was quite sexist, but at the time I thought he was funny). I loved all the characters, but Addison was always my favorite. His hijinks were off the chart. I was watching the clip and (I know this is hard to believe) I actually still knew some of the lines even though I had not watched it in years. It is unfortunate that the show didn't last longer. I have all of them on a hard disk. The show was one of a kind and no one could have done it better than Bruce and Cybil
David Addison is another character who would have to be toned down if Moonlighting were done today.
One of the saddest moments in all of tv was David crying in the rain when Mark Harmon came to town for Maddie
Yes I cried
He played too many games with Maddie.
I wish they would do a “Moonlighting” reunion story. This was a great show and Cybil Shepherd is still gorgeous. 🥰
That would be nice to have a reunion, but Bruce Willis confirmed his retirement from acting due to aphasia.
This "Memories of Moonlighting" was shot 16 years ago. There is no way to do a reunion show now because you can't do a Moonlighting reunion without Bruce.

Thank you for telling us this was filmed 16 years ago (2006), but how did you know that? (The video description doesn't say.)
@@cacatr4495 The description tells you where the video is from. Look that up. 👍
Bruce is no longer acting due to his dementia. Cybill Shepherd was asked if she would ever consider reprising the Maddie Hayes role. Her response was "not without Bruce." This was a few years ago that she said that.
This was an amazing show. But there was no way it could have sustained itself, and that was a tragedy. However, what we got was such gold.

I used to watch this very classic Tv show and I still do. Everything about it is so good from start to finish.
I'm actually re-watching that show right now, and it's still got magic.
One of the most wonderful music intros to a tv show......Al Jarreau's Moonlightning

My absolute favourite ever TV show. Thank you to all those who were involved. I just wish more episodes had been made at the time. Truely fantastic.
Awwww, so cool to see them together after all these years. I absolutely loved Moonlighting! The quick dialogue, the puns, innuendo, just everything about it was awesome. The Shakespeare episode is one of my favorites! Bruce and Cybil hugging and walking with their arms around each other was sweet to see.
Moonlighting was one of the rarest shows on TV in the 1980s- A Detective series/ Romantic Comedy/ Fourth Wall Breaking Satire.

Thank you so much for this. 🌙Moonlighting was an extraordinary, irreverent and altogether joyous experience for the audience. We were taken on an amazing ride with each episode and it was no wonder everyone clamoured for more. It was like tasting ice cream for the first time and we all got our very own favourite flavour, so it was difficult to wait to have it again.
I have the "Atomic Shakespeare" (Taming of the Shrew) episode in my movie playlist, and two other episodes. The show is here on UA-cam.
Cybill apparently did give the writers copies of the Thin Man movies as an example of the witty, snappy dialog she was hoping for, so you nailed it.
