I think it was a "if they didn't work out they'd still have to work together and convince the audience that these two characters were crazy about each other." Unfortunately, that "plan" might of needed a "new plan" (if you know the show you'll get the reference) and they just as well went for it because by the later seasons there was a lot of anger, etc. Nonetheless, they gave us a show many growing up in the 80s remembers with sweet nostalgia. Favorite show to date. there has never been anything like Moonlighting before or after, very brilliant and unique show and Al Jarreau's theme song was something else.
@@EricaRossini-s3bI agree with you. I may be way off and seeing shadows but my intuition tells me the feuding and animosity between them resulted in large part because they chose not to pursue a relationship in order to preserve the show. 🤷♀️
the feuds were results of exhaustion about working daily 14 hours together, it's a normal human thing. @ Yes I am, although I don’t consider that a feud, they just all wanted to be the king of the hill, someone has to lose in order for the other to win. Cybil and Bruce were an acting due whose interests aligned but they had that odd friction, if you get my drift.
Glad they did this for Bruce while he was still cognizant. Poor guy (actually can be spotted as an extra in the jury during Paul Newman's final speech in 1982's The Verdict).

I told my parents that if I made it big I had two people in mind to play them. My mom would be played by Sandra Bullock and my Dad would be Bruce Willis. Well, my dad passed away in February and Bruce Willis retired from acting.
Wow Cybill’s Texas accent here is WAY stronger than it was in her film roles like Taxi Driver or on Moonlighting. Either she moved back to Texas in recent years post-Hollywood and it got stronger or she was REALLY suppressing it in her heyday. In this clip she’s got the drawl of a saloon keeper in a Western!
I was 12 when I first started watching Moonlighting and even I recognized the chemistry. I forgot about it for so long but I looked forward to it every week. Just found it again on Hulu.
Bruce is 5years younger than Cybill....bruce is now 67 Cybill is 72 ..they both tortured each other instead of cheating to find happiness in each other Zhahah...i had a feeling their beef lasted so long because they wanted each other but both were already in a relationship in 1985 at the start of the show then married in 87 but they didnt wanna cheat or just end their real love life...they would've had a Samuel L Jackson wife relation of over 40+ years now.i bet they'd be a power couple. both were already in a relationship so they never got the chance.
Came here after listening to Nikki Glaser’s interview on Fresh Air. It’s crazy to think that one punchline made her spend her whole check from the roast on chemical treatments at a med spa so she could be less “ugly.”

@@NoPrivateProperty Nope, both are still more relevant than you'll ever be. I'm not a boomer, but at least TV back when this was on was good. While neither actor is relevant now, their past work still holds up.
There will never be a romantic comedy like Moonlighting ever again. Im binge watching it right now on hulu. Bruce and Sybil had incredible chemistry.
For not being a stand up, or performing much recently, she had an effortless ease and perfect delivery.
She's still hot for her age, most of women at that age look like plastic surgery dolls.
Couldn't tell if Martha Stewart was in pain from her back (with her pillow) or in pain from Cybil's zingers! FBI line was hysterical.
They had chemistry in Moonlighting. I can't explain it.
It was a very well written show. It's a lost art nowadays.
Hulu has all five seasons of Moonlighting.

The "shopping for movies at the gas station" line was pure gold. But I'm surprised nobody slapped her.
Will Smith wasn't in the room.

This was great! She delivered perfectly! Love Cybil!

Okay but can we talk about how Bruce was nodding while Cybill said they came close to getting together once? My poor fangirl heart can’t take it 🥲
Awe, Moonlighting 🥰
Despite their feuds, you could see Cybill cares for Bruce and the feelings are mutual...
Unpopular opinion: the only people who can have real feuds are people who deeply care about each other.
