    ["Emotions" - Arianna Ferrara Gennari]
    - Screwdriver - he said.
I passed it to him, and he immediately got back to work. A golden ray of sunlight was painting its way into the room from the elegant rose window separating us from the outside world. I timidly headed towards the golden rivers of light flowing through the air. My brass skin reflected and split their rays in all directions, making me sparkle like a mirror as I peeked out the window.
The street was animated by few humans. A little girl was holding hands with her father. When he lifted her up and pressed his lips onto her soft cheek I instinctively ran my fingers on my brass one, wondering how touch feels like. Was it similar to pain, or speech? How would my voice have sounded, if I had one?
    - Pliers. The small ones. -
I turned around only to see Dad focused on his work. I passed him the pliers. The gears he was handling were so small that I could barely believe they were made by humans. All around him were thousands of metal utensils: wrenches and hammers of all dimensions, some hanging on the walls, some others scattered on the table, screwdrivers as tiny as my thumb and screws which were only slightly larger than a speck of dust. And then there was the clock, ticking tirelessly on the old dusty wallpaper, reminding Dad of the passing of that thing he calls “time”, which seemed to always “pass” even though I had never seen it, not on the street, nor in Dad’s workshop.
He looked up at me and smiled, so I assumed he must be happy. I raised my hands and moved them in the air, speaking in the sign language he had taught me.
    “What is happiness?”
    - Happiness is knowing your latest creation is alive, and asking you questions - he replied - Happiness is seeing sunlight during the night and starlight during the day, it’s dreaming a beautiful dream you can’t wake up from, it makes wind speak with human words and time stand still. It makes miracles happen, just like all emotions.
“What are emotions?” I asked again.
    - You will find out very soon - he replied, delicately grabbing the music box he had just finished assembling. He lifted it up and framed it in the heart-shaped empty box on the left side of my chest.
    - Close your eyes - he said.
    Then, he wound it up.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the long hour of work that this steampunk worker took to make that one robot?

There is no greater tragedy for a gnomish tinkerer than having to reach a high shelf without a stepladder

    The Tinker
The tinker, he does his fair share,
Screwing and clinking he sits on his chair.
He fixes your clocks full of delight,
Builds new mechanics, oh what a sight.
The gears they churn, the gears they turn,
And he hammers on, eager to learn.
Eager to help and eager to create,
Eager to breathe life into metallic pieces.
And with each work his passion increases,
To bring to life miracles, is the tinker’s trait.

This brings me so much peace. I turn this on sometimes when life or my brain is being too much. It is extremely relaxing to lay back and feel the gears get fixed in my brain, imagine the tinkerer running around his shop and building in front of me. I truly appreciate you for uploading this. It has helped me in ways I never quite expected. Thank you 🤍

There's an old game named "Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura", where you can choose to play either with magic or technology, or something in between, and the atmosphere is high fantasy mixed with steampunk. The music, although neutral to those two, is a work of art. I highly suggest taking a look at least at the music.
