I just used your video to do this to my 99 Accord! Thank you for getting to the point and making a video that I could follow. It’s my second major repair and I did it by myself. You explained it all perfectly!!!
That's the cleanest motor I've seen. Great job on video! I think i have oil leaking from gasket but after watching this I think now the oil leak maybe coming from my grommets. Thanks again.
I did the trick of using a flathead to pry the side of the 4 spark plug tube seals away from the side of the opening. Didn't realize the seals are made of a metal ring. If you use the screwdriver to get in between the opening and the seal, then use needlenose pliers to twist and bend, you can pry those buggers out. These 4 seals and the 5 grommets were the longest part of the job. Thanks for the video, Bullet.
Yep. And the bolts are different sizes too but helpful to know about the Red RTV gasket maker. For what the gasket set costs, they ought to include a small amount of RTV in it! Now I have to spend $6-7+ and I'm using it only once in my case! Helpful video!
I have a leak coming from around my vtec solenoid. Trying to figure out if its my valve cover or solenoid. The oil residue is too high up the head i think to be the solenoid. It goes up to the top of the head and stops just at the seal betweem it and the valve cover. Oil residue is also present on top of the top triangular plate underneath the solenoid itself which is odd because all of the solenoid and spool valve gaskets are below this point. The odd thing is that the mechanic would have replaced the valve cover gasket when they did the timing belt 4000 miles ago because u have to take it off to remove the timing belt cover? Or am i wrong about that?
Have you ever had a crank no start, I’m having that now intermittently. I was driving and my 02 accord 4 cylinder just turned off and cranked but didn’t want to start. I had to push it and park it and then the next day it turned on Instantly. No codes. Thanks in advance.
The trick you teach to use a socket to seat the oil tube seals in the valve cover is brilliant. Thank you! I used a hammer to try to seat those seals as much as possible, but did not seat all of them perfectly. Do you think they will leak?
So you also had the old spark plug wire gaskets break up when they were removed. How did you get all of the old gasket out of the groove? Or did you have to? I been trying to clean the groove out on mine for a few hours...
Hey bullet great video as always, my valve COVER is chipped, but has a new gasket. In your opinion do you think I could just put the gasket on the new cover? Or is better to change the gasket every time? It is not an RTV gasket. Thanks
Figured it out, was my own stupidity. Took out all the bolts come to find out I trying to get a big one up front; problem solved! It is tough to line up the bolts though...Drrr dumbass me lol
Okay so my car is burning oil every 400 miles I gotta put 2 quarts in it I know my pistons aren’t bad and I don’t have any leaks under the car but I can smell oil burning sometimes do you think this is the problem?
If is burning oil probably is your piston rings, but yes check the spark plug tubes and check the valve cover gasket, probably is leaking somewhere in there, but 2 quarts is allot, maybe is your pistons rings
Somebody told me it can be a bad seal because with a bad seal you won’t see any visable leaks because my engine is quiet and it does smoke out of the exhaust so idk how it would be a piston ring
my 2002 accord, 165,000 not leaking oil, but this is great to see, so i know what to do, or suspect, when i see oil in the area. i intend to try and keep this car running, all is still ok. thanks....
Our old 99 Honda Accord Sedan 2.3L spark plug gasket VERY STICKY and I can not pry them out. Any tips, I can't seem to get them to scrape out and I don't want to scratch the aluminum too much.
@@BulletSolano I have a question, I was looking at the way the spark plug gaskets interface with the spark plug tubes and thought it seemed backwards to install them the way shown in this video. Mine were installed the way you show in this video when I took them out, but in other videos I've seen by Honda-Tech and others show the spark plug tube grommets going on the opposite way so the lip of the gasket wraps around or 'mates' with the spark plug tube, and the rounded side of the gasket fits into the valve cover. This seems to make more sense to me from my experience with seals and grommets, but I do trust your experience so I'm conflicted.
Whene i put the gaskets I was confused to because when I put the valve cover back in the car I have problems to put them in the tubes, but I doble check the old gasket tubes and I have them the same way like the old ones, and I don’t have any leaks of oil into the tubes, just check the old ones before you put the new ones on the car
The way you show it in the video is right, I tested my theory and it was totally wrong. Thanks for the videos! Everything you do is really helpful! @@BulletSolano

The grommets were a massive pain in the tail!!
Solved my problem. Thanks man. Couldn't figure out how to get the spark plug seals seated all the way. Nothing like logic and experience.
Nice

I agree they're a pita!
Very nice you cover the little important details others miss, like how to get the spark plug grommets out.
Thanks
yw, i just did mine wednesday and it was perfect 👌

I watched your video and got mine done. Those spark plug grommets are tough. I used 45 degree needle nose pliers to pry em out. Thanks for the tips

Thank you for your time making this video it's going to help me out a lot in the morning

Thank you! Exactly the problem with my Honda now. Three of the six plastic parts of the screws are leaking. Great video!

Wash the engine to found the leak , sometimes the leak is on the distributor
@@BulletSolano did the distributor a month ago and cleaned the area, i cleaned it again, i guess ill have to wait and see
Thank you so much and this was extremely helpful.
Thank you, I really appreciate your explanation of what to do. I feel confident I can do it.
You can just plug back in the spark plug wires, nothing else for them needed?
Yes
Very helpful and descriptive.
thanks
Thanks for the great video. I have one bolt that broke off in the thread,in the rear. Any suggestions on how to get it out?

He said something about time if is back up? What’s he mean? Unless I miss heard him and that’s why I didn’t see him do it.
What size socket did you use for the spark plug grommet?
Uff old video, but I think 1 1/8
Or 1 1/4
Thanks for posting.
No problem
Hey Bullet, which kit did you buy to do this job ?
I get mine at autozone
your videos have definitely helped me work on my car and save so much money. Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching

Yup I changed that already with OEM one.
Still the same?

Thanks, probably but I think when you put the valve cover back on the car it should push them back in place
Thank you again

Thanks buddy used your video to do my 99 accord :)

@@BulletSolano ever have on power steering leak issues? And if so have a video on it or a solution? Thanks

Mine didn’t break inside, the seal was just old and brittle
@@BulletSolano Yes I figured it out now. Thanks Solano.
No problem
Do i have to put gasket maker on the ends?
Yes
Okay thank you
No problem
I have a question , when I drive my car & come to a stop & let it idle it shakes , what do you think is the problem ?
Few different things, probably dirty aidle air control valve, dirty egr passage, or vacuum leak

What did you ever do with this car? Have you ever suped it??? Thinking about super chargers...
My car is down right now
Ok, so putting the front right screw in it goes in fine, but sticks up more than threaded...Any advice?
You have to line the screw perfectly to go inside the threats

thanks alot bro! Great Video
+Rigo Gallegos no problem
When changing the valve cover gasket is it necessary to drain the oil , first time doing it
No, just replace the gasket
Thank you 🙏 love your channel
No problem
The bottom seals are larger than the top ones correct? Where did you get your seal kit?
The grommets are the same but the top bolts are larger then the bottom ones, I get de kit from Autozone
@@BulletSolano now the cam seals are larger right? I've got to straighten tunes and replace both upper and lower seals. Same size?
Yes same size
Does this also works for a 1998 honda accord lx?
Yes
