My Daughter used to wear her seat belt with the shoulder strap low like Abby.
My Wife and her were stopped at a stop sign and a minivan slammed head-on into them.
She almost bit her tongue off when her face hit the dash. I watched the ER Doctor put the stitches into her tongue not fun but she healed pretty fast.
Needless to say, She started wearing her shoulder strap properly after that.
i was thinking more of broken ribs, id rather not break my ribs.
Glad the top kick let you know on the way there, that it was having some problems.
LOVE TO SEE ABBY IN THE VIDEOS, YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO BE INVOLVED TO KEEP THIS GOING ON!!
😎Cool to see some off duty firefighters enjoying the great outdoors and still learning something than they can use and reference to their work.
Proud 23 year retired member of I.A.F.F. Local 504, Owosso, Michigan!
Well handled Gene and it was a good class to take and enjoy . Thanks for recording it.
You’re a good old boy Eric always enjoy watching your videos
Hope you get the Topkic fixed!! The bathroom is looking pretty good. I like the doors you're putting on, they're looking pretty nice!!
Thanks for always sharing your knowledge with us. I always learn something when I watch your videos 👍
Hello Eric smashing the like button for the Recovery fund fundraiser.
We had a cold April here in Victoria BC Canada too. I had to wear my down filled jacket while riding my mobility scooter to the local mall. But it has now warmed up considerably to the point that I’m using the sun to warm my home every day.
Great video Sir ! Very cool about the class that they do. I hope you get you truck figured out soon ! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us Sir ! ✌️❤️🙏
That vice looks just like the one I have. ... regular jaws on top and pipe jaws on the other side ...the ability to rotate the head and use either set of jaws in any position makes it by far the best vice I have ever used
I really enjoyed the bonus content describing your troubleshooting process on the Topkick.
Really enjoy watching his videos.
Too bad you had issues with the top kick, but , hey, pretty minor compared to a broken crank!! You're going to have it fixed up quickly and be hauling your new toy home in no time!!. Nice seeing Gene having fun too! Glad he's part of your team. Great video thanks.
I've never seen 'the basket weave' before.Thanks.Looked like a good class, and great area.I don't know squat about diesels,so good luck.I like the door for the utility area cover.Happy Trails !
Camera man Gene - Loved the Buckminster Fuller Quote, From Carbondale, IL home of the Geodesic dome.
Ran one of those with a 4 door cab, 4500, 4x4, and a Monroe tow body and air ride suspension... had to swap out the Bosch CP4. Hated the front seat ergonomics. Seats were too close to the doors, not enough room in the footwells, plastics were truly crap. The back seat was a plain bench, but nice for snoozing on during long trips. Front suspension was really crashy/noisey, the air ride rear was excellent.
I liked the space available in the can and the power of the Duramax, but I still preferred our Ford F-450 short wheel base chassis cab.
GM SI info is alwayshandy for narrowing down problems, thanks for bringing us along, great video
We never got to play in the snow in GA great video and keep up the good work God bless from GA stay safe
Eric, could there be a gelling issue causing your pressure to rise abnormally. It is mid-April and usually the fuel this time of year doesn't need to be winter blend. Maybe your fuel supplier is already pumping summer grade diesel, because he read the calendar instead of the thermometer.
If you have the attitude that you don't know everything, and that you can learn new way's to do thing's or not to do thing's, it can make life easier, I figure if your not learning you must be dead, so to speak, 😮 the recovery class looked fun, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
I think you should have a jack stud under the beam the barn door is going to hang from. Depending on what they will weigh.
Or not.
Square body or a jeep gladiator semi military 515 also a great choice
Great content guys thanks for sharing 😊.
Nice Driving Gene, Hope the top kick is an easy fix Eric.
Great video keep up the great work
Abby has a Trail-mater hoody. Good for her 😂
She loves her hoodies.
She has a fab rats one and I think bleepin jeep as well
Does your Top kick use an FCA( fuel control actuator) for the fuel rail pressure regulator on the pump? The Rams that use the CP4 pumps are internally coming apart and destroying the fuel system. Ram has a big recall. I read an article where Bosh stated Europe doesn’t have injection pump issues due to sulfur is still in the diesel. The U.S is down to 15 ppm. Sulfur is a lubricant In diesel.
I just fixed one last week. pressure reg was doing same thing coming and going
That topkic has not been friendly to you.
Did you keep the old busted engine? If so does that have a regulator you need?
I hope the snow eases soon
and Abby's wearing a Trailmater sweatshirt! excellent
Eric. I'm sure you had thought of it too. Check your grounds and look in the connectors for the green cheese!
Kansas been good on snow no snow too much just was a little Dusty couple of dusting of snow it was it it been a drought
Hey love your videos but wondering what happened to the budget trail jeep for seat cover be nice to see an update on it
The fuel return lines should get checked too. The fuel quality will mess with the return capacity. Identifix doesn't have a lot on the 0088, only 4 replacements of the pressure regulator.
keep the clips coming
2 very accurate possibilities. But: cold, some frozen partikel clogging up the fuel system return?
Good job camera man Gene 👍🏻👍🏻
Now that's my 2nd favorite tool, the TECH2.
good vid as always, nice to see what the others do on there away time as well, what ever happened to Big Mike?
good job!
So Wise , Thank you . Have you you seen the Yankum offset pully? If it works , sadly sometimes there seams to be no good answer . Happy Trails.
Why does the "Top Kick" have Minnesota Plates on it yet ??
Thanks Eric.
Mike M.
The best thing you could've probably done for the TomKick was to finish that trip, these newer vehicles need to be used, or the sensors and actuators go bad, especially with all these GM made vehicles, like the TomKick,😉👍, lol, thanks for sharing.
Yeah no kidding. My lbz hated being a Dailey driver. Diesels like to work hard or they die.
Cameraman just wants to listen to the grateful dead and do some off roading. Thats my kinda fun. Rock on brotha
The wiggle test was invented the day after the electric wire was. I remember the older Ford odb1 had a chirper for the wiggle test, KOEO it'd watch all the channels for a fluctuation and then beep
Eric, you need to use the well known tried and tested military way to get things fixed. Hit with a hammer, if that doesn't work, get a bigger hammer. 😂 on a serious note. it's good that the topkic let you know on the way there and not break down, fully loaded on the way home, in the middle of nowhere.
Another advantage to seminars...... is getting reinforced that some of the way you do things.. others do as well!!! Kinda reinforces to you that you are doing somethings "right" after all.
I built the same door for my bathroom.. smaller of course 👍😎✊
Hopefully the Topkick is a quick and easy fix so you can go back out and get Mara's new five quarter ton Jeep truck.
how about a faulty fuel pressure sensor
My mom was born in northcross Minnesota back in 1929
26th from Kentucky 👊🏻💪🏻
Would love to meet yall
There used to a video on UA-cam of an off-road wrecker that had dual front and dual rear wheels as well as a hydraulic loader assembly on the front with a rake/bucket attachment clearing stumps out of mud hole. I can’t find it any more. Anyone know who owned that one?
That sounds like a "Unimog".Perhaps searching that will lead to it.Good luck.
@Juan Martinez
No, even with little air pressure in the tyre, it won’t ever be enough force to break the bead free… JMHO ❤️🇷🇴
Your still pulling on the wheel and it takes a lot of force to break the bead to let air out. Sometimes desperate situations call for desperate measures
You had me at turning on the GD channel
I don't know if the winter is going to stop with all volcanoes going off Eric look it up
Has the bsf team ever held or thought of holding a recovery course weekend?
👍
Eric I see you have a Navien for domestic hot water, we refer to these in the trade as "wall hung junk" they have a lot of issues including heat exchanger faults even from new sometimes, leaking combustion gas... keep an eye on it
Do you Watch Mikey pipes Channel. Navien is on the Witch Hunt for Him HAHAHAHAHA
@@m9ovich785 He's not the only one complaining about Navien believe me! youtube just makes him more visible, there's a class action against Navien underway..
@@ThermoCoupleNZ I see that too....
Tell Abby to wear her seatbelt properly.. that's a dangerous way to wear it... Don't let her develop a bad habit that could be life threatening... That tire basket for recovery is a great skill to teach... Tow trucks use rim slings or tire baskets regularly...frankly, the modern vehicles don't have hardly anything to hook to anymore & the wheels are the only thing semi reliable anymore.... practice it at home before you're out playing & need it..
You'll be surprised how long of an endless loop you actually need to wrap it properly.... rim.slings can be short, but as stated, ya gotta keep the tire from turning so the caliper doesn't cut it.
Are you on a bumpy road or do you have front end problems?
Didn't you have to swap that regulator off the old engine when you first got this engine installed in the topkick?
Yes I did, used part failed?
@@offroadrecoveryteam maybe. If I remember correctly it's not easy to change
Greatful Dead is "podsafe" meaning there are no copyright claims to violate. ;)
Really? That’d be a good thing.
HAVENT SEEN/USED A TECH2 IN A WHILE
I would of put a new fuel pressure sender on a. used engine u buy
LOL !! 😂 TOP JUNK... DONT WORRY ABOUT THE FUEL CODE .....YOUR duracrap CRANKSHAFT IS MOST LIKELY WILL BE SNAPPING IN TWO PIECES SOON AGAIN AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME 😅!!! 😂 WOW YOUR TOP CRAP LOOKS LIKE IT REALLY HANDLES AND RIDES NICE ,😅😂
Technikal Tapping with a BFH comes to mind
Never saw the engine replacement either on this...
Go back in his videos it is there..
Troubleshooting is always not fun.
Dam, really wanted to see the new project! And can people off-road something besides a Jeep? Can anyone please be a little original? I can’t even tell them apart anymore?
Back in the 70’s and early 80’s there were more pickups than Jeeps on the trails. And todays Jeeps have a larger footprint than those of yesteryear. But now we’re seeing the “new” Bronco’s showing up for trail duty.
@genedwg I miss back then and real vehicles made out of metal, I'm excluding older Jeeps, basically I think if you're going to spend a bunch of money ( Some of these new jeeps are easily in the 6 figures ) You should at least try to be original or even a little different, like almost everyone I come from the Jeep world, and I've owned a few dozen, starting in 03 with my 96 XJ 4 Door Stick Shift, I've had 5 XJs 6 Wranglers, a few grand Cherokees etc, but now they're everywhere! And a good 90% will never see any offroad, why these people want to drive a Wrangler? When you're never going to go offroad sounds insane to me? They're better offroad then on, but it's a free country, so I gave up on Jeeps, and I built my First Gen Tacoma S.A.Swap and I ain't going back! I'm literally the only Solid Axle Tacoma on Long Island NY, I drive her every single day, take her to Rausch Creek PA offroad park, dependable, quality American built little Minitruck, I love my Pickup, these days, it's good to be different, and nothing against Jeeps, they're Awesome! But if you have the choice, try something different, you might be surprised how much you love what you dreamed up, I do
@@frankfilippone9679 I understand your comment. I’ve had 20 Jeeps in my life and seen the changes, in vehicle choices and demographics. Today there are many more ladies that want the off road adventure than in the past. And there are fewer off road capable models than in the past. Fortunately there are more accessory manufacturers so a person can make the vehicle into their own image.
I’ve still have a 77 CJ that I need to make trail worthy, but the JK satisfies the itch til the CJ is trailworthy in my image.
Different times and different visions
That Topkick seems to be in the shop more than the road.. Kinda unreliable.. Maybe time to consider something different.. I use an old corn truck for hauling.. The box is gone and is a shorten flatbed but will tow 4 tractors.. Deere G, B, A, BW.
Hopefully Cameraman's class will teach him the importance of seat belts.
@wjh jr
At 10:30 he’s wearing a seat belt.. 🤔
I always wear my seatbelt while driving (2 million miles worth) however I may not be wearing a belt while talking to the camera. Will my talk be safer belted? I’ll try to be belted while on camera also🧐😉
It is sad for “professionals” to say it is safe to pull sideways on a wheel. Or, backwards for that matter.
I would sell that truck!!,nothing but problems
Yeah but a crew cab 4x4 top kick is awesome. The duramax just sucks. Needs an 8.3 cummins.
That Topkic is a piece of junk. It has been one thing after another since day one. Sorry, but you bought a lemon.
That top kick is a pile of garbage. Typical gm........
Will you stop with the stupid weather gimmick. It's dumb when Matt does it. It's even worse when you do it.
@James Berggren
Sounds like you got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning 🙄
Take a chill man, be happy 🤣❤️🇷🇴
ua-cam.com/video/pWdd6_ZxX8c/v-deo.html
I think its a nice touch. Perhaps you need a hug?
Pretty sure Eric was doing it long before Matt started it
@@shaneholloway8877 nope. Eric stole the idea from matt.
