- It’s not every day you see an amazingly original VW type 3, and today was my day to see this beautifully preserved car. Love the red interior! Beautiful sound too! When I was a kid a friend of mines dad had a square back. One of his birthday parties, a bunch of us kids crowded into it, 3 or 4 of us in the back sitting over the engine. Birthday boy says, " wanna see something cool?" "sure!" says I, and he lifts up the engine cover while driving down the road. You can imagine his fathers stern response I'm sure.

@@toddvanwinkle7777 yeah, what was interesting was the fact that everybody was walking by that car and not really giving it as much attention as I felt they should have. I honestly think folks may have thought it was just a nice, clean, restored car. Little did they know how original it was. That’s why I just had to share it.

My 3rd car (3rd VW at age 17 in 1971) was a baby blue 67 Squareback. It drove SO much nicer than either my 58 or 62 Beetles I had prior. Good times! Loved the video and the car!

That's an awesome car. Way back, one of my first cars was the 'Fastback' model in light blue, awesome memories of that time.
My friend has a light blue fastback! Very cool and original paint car.
Wonderful car! Very well preserved. Pigalle and teak (brown interior) were 66 only, but the red interior always looks great!

Pigalle interior was a 1966 only option fyi
The type 3 was the first mass produced electronic fuel injected car. Mercedes, GM and others did offer Fi as an option a decade or not earlier but it was mechanical, not electronic.
