This is a car to be PROUD of!! The life it lived and now your family history and experiences with it, PRICELESS!!! So cool a 15 year young man had the foresight to see the potential in what others would see as a pile of junk. Looking forward to seeing the fully restored Fastback!!!!!!!!
You should be proud that’s quite an accomplishment. Makes me want to go out looking for a Type 3 again. In 1978 my dad passed down to me as my first car his 1966 Type 3 Squareback. He bought it new for around $1200. I still remember going to the Rhienhart VW in Miami FL looking at all the new VWs. It got totaled (rear ended) while I was in college in 1987 and I bought a 1971 Type Fastback. Miss them both. Well engineered and drove like a dream. Both baby blue from the factory.
Thank you Robert. Thats quite the story, sorry you lost both of them, but more are out there! Check thesamba.com and hopefully one is for sale around you. This car was fairly local to me but my Fastback I went to Wisconsin for and my Notchback to Long Island.
You know how I feel about those late model lights. So glad the turn signals are clear! :P I didn't know you had it at the Grand Canyon. It always puts a big smile on my face to know about younger people being as excited about aircooled vdubs too.
Such an awesome video man! I love how it's like a mini documentary. Very cool tributes to your uncle as well...9 is my number too. So badass your car is in a magazine too, that's a dream come true for me! Dude that air ride is hot and should come back soon! Bro this video was fantastic. Great job on it and the car!
