Phil has got so handy with that chainsaw. I remember he was so tentative with cutting that first olive tree, now you give him an inch, he takes a yard.😊
Roof is looking amazing, Ray is like you, loves to start a project, gets it to 95% done, then moves onto a new job, as there is always an endless job list 😊 ps love seeing Jane getting more confident each week doing new jobs, regards Martine
Good to know I'm not the only one having to crack the whip occasionally, Martine! And yes, the jobs list just grows whenever you turn your back on it - must be the winter rain 😂
Another video showing much progress, fascia boards, tree pruning, driveway and tree tagging. It will be interesting to know the final count of trees on your property. Well done Jane, you are one patient woman.
Hola you two. Another lovely video. Hard work with the gravel, shovelling from the pile is such hard work as we well know, done vast areas over the years & still at it 😂. Plese tell Phil to take care with the chain saw pruning the trees & the kick back from the big limbs. Sending love ❤❤
Thanks, Patricia, and good to hear from you again. Hope you've had a good start to the year. I do keep reminding Phil to look after himself, both in heavy lifting and chainsaw-wielding, but....(did get him a 'bump cap' - a cross between hard hat and baseball cap - for Christmas, though 😂)
Guessing you got your fascia boards from Leroy noticed one split I laid 25 square meters of floor using the boards from them ordered 30 unfortunately they are the poorest boards you can get bananas is a good word for them and twisty very hard work to lay think you might have lucked out and actually got a straight pack nice work very ingenious the roof has given me ideas for my ruin next door
Thanks a lot, that’s good to hear. We learned the same lesson with Leroys some time ago. We now get our wood from the timber yard in Serpins, highly recommended. As well as some standard boards like I used on the fascia, they give me good quality dry timber in 6m lengths that I can cut down to what I need for each job. Much more economical and reliable that way. Any splits are more likely my dodgy joinery than the quality of the boards. 🪚🛠️😎🇵🇹
My gosh hard work for the driveway I was urging the truck driver to go for it but to no use lol, I don’t think I could prune the olive trees like you e done even though I know they need it but good job done ready for this years harvest, take care and see you next time xxx
So were we, as it meant lots more heavy lifting for us 😉 We're excited to see the olive trees grow back again and hopefully provide a good harvest in years to come🌳🌳💚
Hello! What a lovely place you have to renovate. Each visit you are making all there so much better. Just a joy to see! I love hearing Jane's voice......beautiful!!! Thanks and see you next time!!
☀️🌵🌴 Hello from Arizona, USA. You’ve done such a lovely job on the outdoor kitchen. What are your plans for the little structure to the right? Jane, I hope you report back on how many trees you discover. ✌🏼❤️
Thanks, Daisy. Will definitely let everyone know the final tree totals when I eventually get there. The area to the right of the covered part of the outdoor kitchen will hopefully house a built-in barbeque and bread/pizza oven to replace the one we'll be losing from the tiny house.😀🇵🇹
I would call in a bulldozer to go several times up and down the broken tiles and make them compacted and in smaller chunks. The pieces now are too big to lie still when a truck goes over them. Make the dozer go several times, until nicely compacted. And then, you call the vibrating compactor!
Thanks, yes, its an option - I'm experimenting with the entrance area and with the gravel on and a few runs over by the car it seems to be working well. Still a long way to go and the help my still be a good idea.
Hello guys, I just seen you on Michael and Becci's video. There are a lot of hard hours worth of rubble from their place, I don't know how he does it. Great progress, I've just subscribed so that I can follow along. Greetings from Cape Town.❤️🇿🇦
Welcome to the channel, and hope we can keep you entertained over the coming year. Absolutely agree that Michael has incredible stamina - we're in awe. He's also the tidiest worker we've ever met, and is giving Phil quite a challenge to meet those standards!💪🧹
I am too, Cheryl, so I'll keep plugging away with the tagging and let you all know once I'm done. It does take a while, though so I tend to do it in batches🌲🌳🌲🌳💚

ask for advice. even if you don't you're goin' to get'em anyways! 😜😂 take it easy. nice progress. stay strong. 🤠😎
looks like you forgot to dig off the soft stuff and put on a thick enough layer, and you will need a much firmer layer than the fine stones you got there, they don't really compact and "stick" that well, they will squish around making it soft to drive in... the outdoor kitchen roof looks sweet! to avoid the splitting predill the boards, it will help with that
Yes, we are learning the strengths and weaknesses of what we have done. It seems to be going ok in the entrance area with the gravel down and a few runs over with the car then topping up the gravel as we go. Still need to think about the rest of it though.
Thanks Judith, it’s always there as an option. For now we are trying to do as much as possible ourselves while we wait for the planning process to go through for the main build, then it’s contractors all the way 🛠️🇵🇹😎
Tip; zet de kruiwagen met de neus in de richting waar je heen wilt. Je hoeft de dan volle kruiwagen niet meer te draaien. Dat scheelt weer een beetje rugpijn.
Respekt for your hard work 👌🤞🍀 Nice Music🌸🌴🌳
Thanks, Diana. We love Dave's music and will try and share some more in upcoming videos too 🎶😎
@ it real Nice 👌🤞☀️
Looking good ❤
Thank you 😊
Phil has got so handy with that chainsaw. I remember he was so tentative with cutting that first olive tree, now you give him an inch, he takes a yard.😊
Just trying to keep him in check a bit Jean, so he doesn't get TOO carried away with himself and we end up with no trees 🌲🌳😂

@HotkeysPortugal I'm sure they grow in the summer sun ☀️ too 🤣🤣
😂
Belo trabalho vocês fazem com a numeração das árvores. Acho linda sua propriedade, bem arborizada. Parabéns.💚🌳🌳🌳
Muito obrigada💚

Thanks, Pauline. I'm really intrigued to know the final total myself, but tagging them is quite a slow process🌲🌳🌲🌳💚

You must be very lucky with a wife as Jane. She has also a beautiful voice( over).
Very true and grateful, this couldn’t be done without her 🛠️😎🇵🇹❤️

Thank you so much, we are pleased with progress so far and I’m very lucky to have Jane and her soothing tones alongside me ❤️🛠️🇵🇹😎
Each project is a great milestone....😊
It's great to feel we're finally getting somewhere, as it's far too easy to get overwhelmed with the mountain of jobs to do.😀🇵🇹
I love the outdoor kitchen space, it's something you'll be getting loads of use out of, even after the house is done. It also looks really good.👌❤️
So true - we already are!😀🧑🏻🍳
Inspirational couple👍👍👍
Thanks so much Joyce. You're really kind to say so 🤗🇵🇹
Thank you for sharing your achievements. ❤
Thanks for your comment. Hope to be able to show you more progress over the coming year😎🇵🇹
The narrator has a really nice voice.
Yes, one of her many talents, all part of the teamwork❤️😎🛠️🇵🇹
Looking good.
Thanks, Darby!😎🇵🇹

Thanks for sharing - great video
Glad you enjoyed it, and hope you'll keep on watching for more fun over the next few months😎🇵🇹
Well done guys 😊
Thanks, Terry. Very kind of you to say so😎🇵🇹

The truck driver is an experienced driver. He was able to get to the entrance, but chicken out.
Guess he played it safe. I wouldn't have fancied trying to push his truck out if he had got stuck though💪🛻

Roof looks great! I look forward to each of your videos. I’m curious to find out how many trees you have on your beautiful land.🤗

We've learnt so much from people's comments and suggestions. I'm sure you can see we're not experts, but we're always prepared to have a go!😎💪

I wonder if you could have hired a company who had a big roller to go back and forth over the tiles etc
Thanks Judith, it’s always there as an option. For now we are trying to do as much as possible ourselves while we wait for the planning process to go through for the main build, then it’s contractors all the way 🛠️🇵🇹😎

Very true - anything I can do to avoid the aches and pains is worth it. Thanks a lot for joining us. 🛠️😎🇵🇹💪
I order a road base material with fine material like dust.
Thanks, that’s good thinking - we are planning to do the same as a finishing layer. It binds everything together really well 🛠️😎🇵🇹
Skid steer and 20 more loads…….a shovel is 🥜 nuts
Nuts it may be, but with a tight budget, and very limited availability of heavy machinery, we're just doing what we can to move the project forwards💪😎
Will you coat the wood to help preserve it 😊 well done team
Yes, we put two coats of the standard anti-bug preserver on everything before it goes up. It is becoming habit and is very necessary. 😎🇵🇹🛠️
Driveway is definitely much better.
I hope the table saw was unplugged while fiddling around with the blade.
Oh yes, always the first check 👍🛠️😎🇵🇹
