This one was so fun! As a Mexican, one of my greatest joys is being fluent in Spanish just so I can understand Shakira's lyrics. They do hit different in Spanish, she is very good with word play and her 90' songs are full of cultural, literature and even biblical references. She is a genius and I'm so glad for her, that she can finally see her own value! She has been an inspiration for Latino girls for the last 3 decades. I love her.

In Latin America we LOVE Shakira, she can do no wrong. She is like our Beyonce/Cher/Dolly Parton all together. She does so much humanitarian work and represents us with pride and class. And during this whole drama every club in my country was blasting all of her songs she wrote about this and it was crazy how everyone in the club would scream the lyrics and scream their hate for Pique 😂 it was like we all united to protect our queen.
She can do wrong just like all celebrities regardless of their status and we don’t know all the details of their relationship to judge she is without fault in the relationship, and we shouldn’t be showing hate toward anyone, especially someone we don’t even know personally.
Not denying her humanitarian work but just saying everyone can do wrong and we don’t know her life/relationship. There are always more sides to the story and he chose to stay quiet and take all the hate. Not justifying cheating either.

Her music is INSANELY good and ahead of its time, and all her lyrics were a cry for help, describing her situation. If you do it, you MUUUST research and include the lyrics as well. Also, she finally filed a lawsuit against the guy TODAY, after decades of not doing it.

Shakira is THE Beyoncé of Latin America. She's had an incredible career with so many different genres, she's incredibly iconic. She is the definition of making it big. to say this situation pissed us all off is an understatement.
Also to note, Shakira was already the face of the FIFA World Cup since 2006 when she released Hip's Don't Lie. She performed it there live as well and became the anthem of that year (even though it wasn't an official FIFA song). She was already considered the Queen of FIFA anthems by the time 2010 rolled around. It's clear Pique didn't know who he was actually dealing with.
I don't know if my experience was different than everyone else's, but my whole family is a typical latin household full of soccer fanatics. When they started dating, while they did know who Pique was, I clearly remember them saying "Out of all the soccer players, why HIM? He's basically a nobody." And thats what I heard from my own community outside of my family as well growing up. But who knows maybe he was well know at the time.

Side note, my daughter was always singing and other kids would laugh and tell her she sounded like a sheep. When she got to high school she joined the music group, and within the 2 yrs she became the music captain, and lead singer for the school band. They won numerous awards and she went on the go to a college in the city for music artists. She had so many original songs, and got so much praise…which unfortunately covid lockdowns killed off. It gave her crippling depression and to this day she struggles to pick up her guitar and sing.
I’m hoping she is able to break free and show the world how amazing she is. Never give up on your dreams. To hear Shakira was called a goat, it just reminded me of my daughter being called a sheep.

I'm from Barranquilla Colombia, and my older brother knew Shakira as the "neighbor's kid" (she became famous in Colombia when I was around 9, my brother was 20) so it's true, she was a weird kid.
Her closest friends were the ones saying that she sang like a goat, not just bullies 😆 now, in Barranquilla, there's no such thing as "bullying" just "brutal honesty" a common thing amongst locals "if you're shaken by it you're too weak for the real world"
Also! Shakira was dating De La Rúa (the son of the President of Argentina) during the 2010 world cup. They broke up in the beginning of 2011, and started dating Piqué around the same time. ALSO!! Piqué had a girlfriend during the 2010 world cup and he broke up with her in the beginning of 2011 as well.
She had a tough time in the FIFA industry in general, because all the girlfriends/wives of the players didn't like her and were visibly annoyed with her presence during the sport events. On top of the whole mother in law drama, who liked the ex better. The whole relationship was tough on all ends.

In Barranquilla we're very brutally honest to one another, so if there's something odd about you, it'd be pointed out in the worst possible way, and it's not considered an insult, just a remark
For example: me and 2 of my brothers (I have 4) have the same face/nose. So, whenever I was out with them, many times I was being stopped by elderly women or young men that recommended me to wear some makeup and change my attire, because I looked like a girly man and I'd never get married looking like that. For the song Shakira made with Bizarrap it's actually not weird for it to be titled as session #53. Bizarrap is an Argentina dj and makes music sessions with a variety of artists, he lets them sing or rap about anything, even free style, and he just titles the music video by counting numbers. Shakira was just the artist number 53 to go to his studio and record a session, that's why BZRP session #53 is the title.
fun fact: some artists go to bizarrap to do tiraderas (say shit or throw shit) to other artists or people. Shakira and Residente are the first that I can think of.
Ahhhh this story!! Let me add some stuff lol. Pique was basically forced to retire bc of all this plus other shady things he did. He was still playing but stuff from off the field was affecting how he played so fans started turning on him. Also, Barcelona was going through financial trouble at the time and was asking players to take pay cuts and guess who got angry with this. Bc of this, He was also part of the reason why Messi had to leave Barcelona. He did other things as well and when Messi found he cut him off and other players stopped talking to him too. After all of this happened the coach basically didn't even play him anymore and just regarded him as a nuisance. So after all of this he just retired and decided to focus on different business ventures. But yeah, lots of people end up having tax problems in the Catalan area. There is still so much to this drama lol
