You forgot one of the most important things about her. She inherited a rare genetic disorder, which made it very difficult for her to marry a typical husband. Apparently, her great-grandmother or grandmother suffered from the same illness. That might be one of the reasons why she chose the guy.

She’s just way too smart to let her life be essentially dictated by in -laws and “familial duties”, which I’m sure she has seen happen to women in the chaebol realm many times before.
It sucks that the commoner ended up being a dickhead. I know many commoner men would have literally bowed down to her and treated her with utmost respect if she chose to marry them instead. Ugh.

few months ago, the case of Abby Choi was all over. This is why the case of marriage where the wife is economically, financially above that the husband always ends up horribly. The same thing happened to one common family in my city months months ago. The wife was the earner while husband was unemployed drunkard. He brutally murdered her and the kids because she had enough of the abuse and wanted to leave him. Few weeks ago our country had a case of husband beating his wife till her uterus fell out and until the neighbours had to physically go ham in order to stop the husband. The reason? The wife was the breadwinner, member of the city council and she had arrived home late at night from work in her colleague's motorcycle.
A man can't handle his wife being better than him. The male ego is too fragile and they are unfairly physically too strong. All of the women I've mentioned in my comments led a horrible life and had a horrible end just because their husbands can't stand the idea of their wives being better than them.

And then she could be as free and lucrative as a male in the society.

She mocked the things that I liked and constantly put me down while telling me how lucky I was to be with someone as wonderful as her. Many marriages the opposite of that is often filled with bias and societal expectations against the less powerful/not well off guy and creates ugly marriages like these.
