That first cut scene at Ostagar, with all the darkspawn, is still my favorite of all time of any video game, movie or show. o-o Maker I need a life. Anyway, this is so freaking epic it's just- it's so beautiful.

Me too, just can't leave Alistair alone, and I would just die if he died!! Inquisition is just cruel!!! I actually have made Alistair king for all the play through!! Right now I'm doing another one and he is a Warden, but I made a Hawke who has lost everyone in his life, so he is ok to die.
For me it made complete sense to sacrifice myself in the end. I was really enjoying also the roleplaying part of Dragon Age so I even turned some quests down because they were againts the judgement of my hero. It was the best ending for me to be praised for my noble sacrifice. But I guess not everybody is into RP that much :-D

People in dragon age 2 will mention the warden and depending on some choice you will see characters from dragon age origins. if alistair or anora became queen/king those will be mentioned depending on whos the urler if the grey warden is queen with alistair alistair will refer the gray warden as his wife if u meet him in the game (its an otptional quest to meet him)

@ArminVonLiberty she does only because of a well writen loop hole since flemeth gives hawke a quest to give and amulet to the keeper of a dalish clan but what hawke didn't know was that flemeth had sealed part of her soul in the amulet alowing her to come back for the rest of the series so the dragon age writers will have to acount for the fact that the achitect could be alive even tho it is a DLC which is an addition to the set story.

In my opinion Grey Wardens in Origin can be considered chosen ones because if you played all the origin stories you never wanted to become one, you were just dragged into the chaos and became the one who killed the archdemon. Alistair also told you he was chosen to be a Grey Warden so he can use his skills to aid the wardens against magic wielders. Almost the whole of your party has become chosen one to defeat the darkspawn.
Also in dragon age 2 it is probable, as it happened to me, that you won't even meet Alistair while you're playing through only because you missed him in some random tavern after completion of a main quest.

For the expansion you may either pick a savegame to play or choose a new game, if you died a new main character will be introduced. For DA II, you will play an entirely new protagonist, so storywise it doesn't really make a difference how you ended the first game.
Dude, I was JUST THINKING how a dragon age GMV would be perfect with this song! A little more focus on Alistair being raised as king would have been nice but otherwise great job!
@ArminVonLiberty they can't ignore him if you have imported your awaking character and sided with him and they most likly won't have anymore blights involved in the game due to this because bioware writers aren't tools that ignore the set story even if it was a bad thing to do
i suggest if you are dueling with loghain be a warrior / rouge and put like 5 types of poisoin in your blade then just do normal hits with death root ,to stun then just piss him off with doing all your stuning / paralizing moves
Mage works better, though my rogue duel wield (Assassin/Duelist) worked pretty good I had no poison on my rogue when I dueled him just runes. Though as a mage it is fun.
the grey wardens, to this day, my favorite faction that I definetly don´t want to be part of. I mean I´ll choose the wardens in Veilguard again but as a normal human? never

if your computer is really old and laggy like mine go to the fade and when you see a fount of power just click on the fount like 20 times with out stoping and your fount gets over powerd i dont know why i said that

All you need is a) kill the Archdemon yourself b) do not accept Morrigan's offer\ or if you accepted it do not take Morrigan to fight the Archdemon Though I myself never tried. It's kinda pointless to spend entire game establishing and developing your hero only to have him killed in the end, IMHO
What you have written is entirely true, but in my opinion it doesn't really change anything in regards of the main storyline. You will have the same companions, the same story, the same love interests etc. On the contrary for example in mass effect you change many aspect of the game if you let some random character or teammate die in any part of the story, not to mention, you will not be able to continue your game if you let your main character die in the second game.
