My 84-year-old grandmother loves this song. She normally prefers music from her own youth, detests any form of violence in media, and I don't think she's ever picked up a video game controller in her life. But this comes on the playlist sometimes when we're in the car together, and the last few times she's sung along with the chorus. She and my late grandfather played in a band for many years when my dad was growing up so she knows a thing or two about good music, even if it's not her preferred genre. :)
dose she like any of there other music?
tbh maybe she thinks this is about hook from peter pan, thats what i tought when it came on spotify
I think that is very lovely :) though I am confused on the violence apart given.. well Hawkes story lol - but I guess this song is very more a heroic ballad than ruthless violence.
Obviously your grandma is a millennial 😂
Best grannie ever
"There was a much greater danger waiting to attack" *Video shows Sandal.
Well, I'd say that describes Sandal pretty well... he waits, then he enchants the shit out of you.
SNEAK ENCHANT!
Sandal last boss of Inquisition confirmed
DaBase333 with a enchanted dragon.
Hyrule Swordsman 94 enchantment? ENCHANTMENT!
Hyrule Swordsman 94 DO YOU SPEAK IT?!
My sister and I went to Texas RenFest dressed as Isabela and Hawke. We ran around with a couple bottles of mead singing this song and giving a swig to anyone who chanted Hawke with us. It was amazing.
Why are you live in not my city?
So when are we gonna see an Origins song?
+Lewis Houston Fekk yes!
That would be so awesome *o*
Especially if he worked "In peace, vigilance", "in war, victory" and "in death, sacrifice" like, at the prelude to the chorus each time or in the chorus
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
OMG I need that one!
Gavin seems pretty good at "keeping up" with games. I doubt he is going to ever even play it.
I'm gonna throw my voice in here and defend this game, it's one of my favourites. From the personal story that makes you actually feel like the Champion of your home, to the excellent romance options (Merrill is still one of my favourite characters ever. So damned adorable), I think that they did this well. Not perfectly, but well. And for god's sake, stop complaining about the repeating dungeons. If you're playing this for the dungeons, go find something else.
Actually... The repeating dungeons make A TON of sense.
All the game is basically Varrik telling the story of Hawke to Cassandra, and I quote "All caves look the same to me" - Varrik's banter.
P.s. I do realize it was mostly dev's laziness, but the way they explain it in-game gaves them free pass in my eyes.
4 years late but idc, after origins which you played an epic story of a grey wardens.this games story feels weak compared to it tbh, thats why this game is underrated. I like it too personally but origins is the best in the series
greyassassin24 Merrill is by far the most adorable character in dragon age. But as the latest reply said, this campaign seemed on a tiny scale compared to saving the world from the blight. Still a good game overall, but generally not as good as its predecessor or its successor. Gave a lot of neat new lore and great characters (varric is probably my favorite dwarf, sorry oghren) but the story itself was a bit lacking and would’ve been a lot better with minor changes
@@piotrkuklewski8008 that's a meta excuse, further more varics story is a framing device, meaning things should at least look to the player how it was supposed to look or similar but exeggerated. It's not a good excuse and they don't deserve a free pass. It was a bad design.
It definitely has the best written companions
Anyone else imagening Varic singing this to Casandra when she "invites" him to tell her of the Champion? I did and it was awsome
I can imagine it as well
It has to be from his perspective really.
Indeed it fits quiet well.
And then her calling bullshit on the song? xD
'I knew a champion we traveled far and wide'
Gavin would ya be interested in going abit backwards in time and writing a DragonAge Origins song? Cos the story in that game's amazing the song could have a rly sinister tone since the story is pretty dark.
+DaBase333 Yes! that would be awsome! :)
Play either of his dragon age songs while playing origins they fit really well.
+explosiveexcitement5 not when it comes to lyrics
Well, as I remember the lore version is Dalish Elf male :P
However my favourite is Dwarf Noble, or Mage :)
@RPG Is Life doesn't have to be with origin character background 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Oooh, I remember that totally epic Arishok fight in game as a mage. Yep. It went down just like that. Running around in a circle screaming for mer-oh wait...I guess it didn't quite live up to the trailer in the game. xD
I tried to fight the Arishok one on one without running as a warrior....
After the third attempt I said 'screw it' and ran while drinking so many poultices that I pissed health potions for a couple of weeks.
Sharp Revan yeah I tried both as a warrior and a mage. The mage was actually easier, because i kept slowing him down and stunning him, then ran like a bitch, then cast healing spells and drank a couple of barrels of mana potions. As a warrior I found using Reaver skills were the most useful tactic. Mainly because you increase your own damage the more damage you take. And he is good at damaging. But basically keeping him shield bashed to keep him down, then hammer, then avoid and heal. And you should take the Arishok within 2-3 tries.
For me it was a Rogue fight, critical hits almost everytime.
neolithiumproduction I magic'd the shit out of him. He didn't stand a chance. Cone of Cold, Firestorm, repeat.
My more recent play through as a mage i actually only ran a couple times. Being a force mage is awesome.
Its amazing how much hate this game managed to pull.
Yes, it was a disappointing sequel to the RPG love letter that was DA:O, yes it recycled dungeons, environments, and equipment waaaaaaaaaaay too much, but in the end, at least with me, it accomplished what a videogame is meant to do.
It entertained me. The characters were amazing, the humor was spectacular, the drama (particularly the death of hawke's mom) was heartwrenching, and above anything else: Arishock >>>>> All other antagonists ever. I was actually rooting for him, and considered him a worthy adversary.
DA2 may be a disappointing sequel, yes, but a horrible piece of shit game? no way. It brilliantly subverts and deconstructs almost every RPG trope under and over the book, and has some of the more memorable characters ever.
Finally, if there is one last reason to automatically believe this game was pretty good (albeit not as good as DA:O)? It gave us Varric.
I rest my case.
You sir (or ma'am), have said what I have wanted to say for a long time now, but could never find the correct words to do so.
Well, except for the rooting for the Arishok bit. I actually dislike him. But I dislike the entire religion of the Qun, so that's only natural. But I certainly did think he was a very amazing antagonist.
I concur with this mortal, you hit all the correct points to have a sound opinion. I loved Arishok~ everything about him just resonated being a Bamf, even his voice~! Bioware did what Bioware does best and that is making renown characters that are surrounded in a sense of verisimilitude in whatever game they make. Mass Effect is still one of my favorite game series for this very reason, because it has a lot of the best characters in any game EVER. And they did it again in Dragon Age. As soon as I got Merrill, she was a permanent member of my party lqtm. I just loved her personality, kind of like Liara's if she was a Dalish eleven mage, which gives her bonus points because I am very bias to mages hahaha.
And Flemeth was just badass in this game. Ah, I can't wait for Dragon Age: Inquisition and the characters it will bring lqtm. I've been wanting to be a Qunari mage ever since I read their backstory years ago~!
Most people will tell you dumbed down combat and repetitive environments, but I'm about to pull out the big guns; the problems with character and plot.
Both Varric's narration and the pre-launch hype from Bioware made Hawke out to be some kind of major figure who made important decisions that changed the Free Marches. Both are untrue. While the plot with the Qunari ended up being the best part of the game, the Templar/Mage conflict was horribly handled. I get what Bioware was going for, trying to go for two sides that are moral equals with good and bad points on both sides. Unfortunately the good sides were informed attributes. Anders argues all throughout the game mages are oppressed by the templars, but with the of Bethany, every single one of them is a blood mage or abomination. Conversely Meredith argues there must be constant vigilance against mages and Templars are doing a civil duty, but again, with the exception of a tiny fraction of Templars, three by my count, they are all psychos who don't care about protecting people, but instead physically, mentally and sexually abusing Mages, who I remind you are born with their powers meaning it's out of their control. It's like the demons on the mages side, and the Church Approved serial killings on the Templars side are in place to justify siding with the oposing faction, but all that did was make players not want to side with either. And of course Hawke can't point out the obvious flaws in both or try to fix the problem because the plot says so.
And then there's the characters. With Varric and Aveline there's nothing really wrong with on a fundamental level and they are probably the only characters I wouldn't change if I could. Anders and Fenris have no depth and ignore the context of the situation, saying "Mages are oppressed" and "Mages are all bad and must be killed" respectively, no matter what the situation is. Ignoring solving solutions but instead preferring to just kill the opposing faction. But at least Anders if plot integral, Fenris could be ignored entirely. Same with Isabela. Merril just comes across as Bioware trying desperately to get the same fan appeal they got from Tali in the Mass Effect games and failed. There's a difference between being naive, and just being an idiot. And then their's Hawke's siblings. They are both distinct but because they are mutually exclusive, they are both interchangeably cannon fodder with no major significance.
Wow that went on forever, probably should have made a video instead, and maybe I will, but suffice to say, there were more than a few things wrong with this game.
Then you've obviously never played the following game series:
ua-cam.com/video/GsUZsu5GUHE/v-deo.html
Moebius >>>>>>>>>>>>>> All other antagonists ever, except for Kain. Kain is even better than Moebius.
I loved so many things from DA2. They were a lot of flaws sure, no multiple endings or races to choose. But the game was SO DAMN FUN. I had more fun playing DA2 than DAO (hate me, I don't care). The character of Hawke is amazing actually, I like the voiced hero much more and how we could build their personality. The companions were great too, Varric stands as my second favourite DA character (right behind Solas). I don't know, I think this game gave us a lot of good stuff despite what people say. Maybe the only thing that bothers me about is the changed appearance of the elves, but I guess it's better than mini humans huh?
Hawke is such a badass. Sarcastic Hawke is probably the best thing that ever happened to Dragon Age.
Don't get me wrong, the Warden and Inquisitor did a bunch of great things, but they always got help.
Hawke fought the Arishok 1 on 1 (well in most cases. Whoever gave Isabella to him is just an asshole), killed Corypheus before he even became the main villain and beat a mad duke with a rapid-fire crossbow on a huge wyvern.
Everything in DA2 feels... more personal. It also gave Hawke real character developement, which is obviously lacking for the other two as their stories are not about them, but about their respective goals.
I gave up Isabela, as she was a selfish git.
COME AT ME, BRO
MaddBadgerr On the other hand if you actually talked to her every now and then before the end of Act 2 she will come back for you and personally give the Arishok his stupid relique book. Despite knowing she might get killed and not be accepted back by Hawke.
Just shows how much of an influence Hawke has on others.
I talked to her loads in all 3 of my playthroughs, and she only came back in the one I (regrettably) romanced her in. I made another save to see what would happen if I saved her. Turns out she still only cares about herself, trying to let Castillion, a pure bastard, go free just so she can get a new ship. And she still doesn't care about what her theft did to the city. And she still wants to screw everything with a pulse, even when you're romancing her, and probably does too. Yeah. Influence.
So I used the Keep to change my choice. Fuck that noise.
MaddBadgerr Hey, everyone has different views. Do what you think is right.
She IS a pirate after all. Don't expect them to be all nice lol
Fine, she shouldn't be perfect, but quite frankly her writing sucks. It makes no sense that she would be changed enough to bring back the tome, but then suddenly be the same selfish self again.
And like 80% of her dialogue is to do with sex. I get the idea that she's supposed to be promiscuous or whatever, but fricking hell, there is a line. It just gets annoying, its as though nearly her whole character is based around humping, and no character like that is good. Like, Zevran was really racy and still had enough other stuff in his character, more layers to his character, to be interesting enough. By comparison, Isabela's just a Rule 34 comic parody knockoff. There's such an overload of depravity that what little else she says has more or less no weight.
I think that a lot of the reason why DA2 gets flak is because it's a different type of story to DA:O, and now to DA:I. Its predecessor and successor are epics, they're all about saving the world. DA2 is a tragedy, it's about just some guy trying to make a living for his family with his friends. No big quest, no last savior of the world. Just some guy trying to pull his family and friends out from poverty, only to lose them all one by one once he succeeds.
Or maybe because it was glitchy, ran poorly, looked uninspired artistically and was very grey, lacked proper character customization or the ability to make an origin story like the previous one, had very few real choices and pretty much all wrapped up the same and was of course published by the company that killed Bioware. Like the story if you like, but the actual product as a video game is objectively poor for the price point and the pedigree
@@Spootnik See that right there is exactly what I'm talking about! Glitches are fair to criticise, but every other point is exactly what I meant. ESPECIALLY saying a problem was it "lacking the ability to make an origin story like the previous one," that right there is EXACTLY a case of 2 getting flak for not being the same kind of story as Origins.
That said, honestly I wouldn't say that the previous game or Inquisition have "real choices" as a core point, just the illusion of it. I find a major flaw in Bioware games is that they get so obsessed with creating the illusion of choice that they shoot themselves in the foot and limit the player to only making broad and generic choices like "paragon or renegade," "save a bunch of orphans or take money to burn down the orphanage yourself," etc. You can only be good or evil, never nuanced, and a lot of Bioware games (though admittedly not Origins or Inquisition) actively punish attempting to roleplay as anything nuanced because if you don't go pure good or evil then you lose out on those paragon or renegade dialogue options or don't get access to those morality-based superpowered abilities.
@@bainbonic Nothing about what Sputnik said has to do with the "kind" of story it was, but the mechanical aspects of the game. Also, Origins at least definitely had plenty of important choices that could drastically change the world.
@@KainYusanagi They literally say the words "origin story" in their post. That's a kind of story.
Plus the repeating dungeons
Enchantment!
Pump up my fun bb
Enchantment?
amohotepv better version
Dwight K. Schrute I knew someone wouldn't get it.
He has two lines:
"Enchantment?
Enchantment!"
The first he says when you start talking to him, the second he says when you say yes. (referring to Dragon Age: Origins)
Jesus it's been a long time. This one's still a classic if you ask me.
agreed
This song...this work of yours is just flat out phenomenal. I personally loved DA2, the characters, how the story occurred over the passage of years, and this song does more it more than justice. It's amazing. This song, just like New Black Gold, has lived rent free in my mind since I first heard over a decade ago. Keep up the amazing work!
I love this. My son loves this. He is 4 and he has me play this over and over as we sing along lol. Because of the rogue Hawk (as if he is meant to be played any other way ha) this is to this day my favorite among the series.
"Fight for you values and fight for your friends." That sums up my DA2 experience perfectly.
Great song
This song makes me want to play Dragon Age again.
This song makes me want to play Dragon Age first time.
I'm blown away with the amount of references they were able to get into the song. Well done! *applause* :)
Hawke is the best character in this franchise and I rarely say that about a player character
For all it's faults, DA2 had great character writing, and that's what this song links to for me.
This was probably the song that sealed the deal for me, and made me start bothering everyone I know to listen to your music.
I actually played the game again today, the story DLC's (Mark of the Assassin and Legacy) and even though I'm a vocal critic of the game I can not deny that - besides some serious issues with environment reuse and a bit of interface clutter - it's actually a lot more fun that I remembered. A lot!
The combat is really exiting and fun (once you get good at it), the characters feel fully fleshed out and you know why they do as they do or are as they are (some I just want to hug, others I want to yell at), the music is wonderful and, as a person who's experienced far too much loss since I last played the game (about 3 years ago), I could really relate to the story now; it tucked at my heartstrings.
It is, in spite of it's shortcomings (and it has several), a great game that I will replay in full... and I never though I'd say that 3 years ago; when I was expecting a heroic action adventure (like the first game) and got a tragic character action drama instead.
I might even replay all of DA:O+DLC and DA2 before I fully commit to Inquisition. But I'm still in Haven, trying to get a feel for the classes, so that might change.
The Legacy DLC certainly improves DA2 considerably which kind of annoys me: something so important to later games in the series should be part of the game at launch not an optional bonus. DA2 has been the worst of the DA series so far but even so is a decent game, which says something good about Bioware as a developer: even their worst is better than a lot of other developers' best.
kingkong381 well they probably didn't think coriphis or however u spell his name was going to be the main bad guy in Dragon Age Inquisition they put him in there because he is easy bad guy and they wanted to put the champion in there so that he(if you just went with default world history or pick male hawke) could have help or to kill off hawke or stroud of so it could add a strife for more vengeance and drama
Bailey Baney If you actually look at a lot of the details in the DA series it's pretty clear that Bioware was planning to make Inquisition as the second game in the series as far back as the Witchhunt DLC for DA:O since Morrigan makes a few comments about future events which only become relevant in DA:I. DA2 was something of a rushed placeholder since EA was pressuring Bioware to make a sequel to capitalise on DA:O's success. I think it's likely that the writers at Bioware had come up with Corypheus even before making DA2 and added him into the game simply so it could link well with DA:I. Without the Legacy DLC the second game doesn't really fit in with the rest of the series and feels more like a sub-par spin-off than a title in the main series. With the Legacy DLC, Hawke actually matters.
I agree. I preordered it and did not beat it until a month ago and was blown away by how good it was.
enchantment
Enchantment!
Enchantment
*Not* enchantment!
How are you so good at this?!
Hes a fucking badass thats why.
Anybody else here from coming back after watching All As One?
yessssh Tho I saw this first and recognized the "Fight for your values" part in AAO
We are wait "Grey Warden" song from you =)

Yehh HAWKE! My favorite character in dragon age series
I can't decide who's mine! But I admit, I love Garrett Hawke (mostly the one in the trailer anyway because the trailer was better than the game TT^TT) But I absolutely loathe Marian Hawke because I get jelly everything I play her and romance my biases and I get all "WHY CAN'T I BE HER?" all over HAHAHA
Same here, friend. We have issues xD
This is like a story told by Varric
+Tran Khanh Tuong Huynh Or perhaps a song adaptation of the story told by Varric that is the game itself?
+blarg2429 I played DAO and DAI but not DA 2
Tran Khanh Tuong Huynh Oh. Well, there's a narrative framing device in DA2 where Cassandra is interrogating Varric about Hawke's actions in Kirkwall. He even lies about a particular area at one point, and you therefore clear out its enemies twice; once as Varric by himself one-shotting every foe, and then once with your party doing things as they actually happened. It's pretty neat.
+blarg2429 I missed so much just by skipping from DAO to DAI. Thanks mate
Tran Khanh Tuong Huynh No problem. C:
As a dragon age player and miracle of sound fan.. how have I never heard this song until now!!
I've never played Dragon Age 2 (I've played origins), but this video makes me really want to play it... despite what I've heard about it.
Don't, please. Just have the fond memories of Origins. It doesn't even feel like the same franchise
Calvin in Japan that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy it. Inquisition probably won't feel much like origins either but that doesn't mean it won't be amazing. I definitely know about some of 2's flaws, but it still looks decent enough. Different doesn't mean worse, I'm sure a lot of people were doubtful of a mario rpg but that game turned out pretty good (or so I've been told, I haven't played it since my emulator doesn't like it, but I've played paper mario)
gaurdianAQ It just to me wasn't just that it was a terrible game on its own, but it kinda ruined all the good memories of Origins as this standalone gem. Like the darkspawn in 2 look ridiculous
I say, you may play DA 2, despite that Calvine in Japan says above ''have the fond memories of Origins'' . Why? Cause as long as you haven't STILL played second game of Dragon Age world , obviously you are NOT a fan of the Dragon Age Origins: you don't sound like a fan. So yeah, sure you may enjoy DA2, since only you know what kind of games you like. And FYI - Mainly, Dragon age 2 fans are those who haven't played DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS first. Fight tactics differ from Origins and more dynamic. There are interesting moments, but still a lot of minuses.
Me? I am a faaaaaaaaaaan of DAO! da2.....meh.
Umida Bu Your english is bad, i have no idea what you just said
This is why you don't piss off Hawke. (Personally, I think it's non-debatable that Hawke is a veritable badass. I mean, name one other spellsword with a staff and blade in one.)
Agreed. Inquisitor I wish had a staff like hawke...
Row Boat In real life? Because you can actually get it in-game.
Damon Fyrian Really? Well I gotta get on that. Staff-Blade! Man those demons are dead when I get that.
Row Boat It's called the Staff of Parlathan. You can get it if you go there. v
social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php
Damon Fyrian Thanks! :D
I love this game, but I really think it should have been called Dragon Age: Kirkwall.
Kinda funny that this is among your oldest songs and yet its also one of your finest works.
"Fight for ur values
Fight for ur friends"
Words to live by
Not many people liked DA2, I loved it, I had rented it and when I had to give it back (don't judge me) I nearly cried
This is amazing. The lyrics sound like a medieval bard song, and that is so awesome... keep up the good work!
Amazing song mate! Makes me wonder how amazingly you could do at an Origins version!
It doesn't even have to be about the main character, it can just be pertained to the feats of the main character as just another grey warden.
Absolutely fantastic.
Hawke would love hearing this song. His exploits deserve as much. He is a true hero.
I must cnfess... I really liked dragon age II, yeah the rpg elements might have been dumbed down, but I really enjoyed the conflict between the mages and templars, the rising obivious time bomb that were those horned guys (not gonna try to write their name) and just fighting for gold and glory as Hawk.
Qunari?
*****
thats right ^^, also I think the Qunari look much better in this one
Agreed
I think Bioware did the best thing they could with Dragon Age 2, they experimented with it instead of the 3rd one.... God how I do not want another Fable 3 experiance
Qunari
My life now is complete
Awesome Lyrics ..keep it up,if possible go for Dragon age origin song
This song and the one about Commander Shepard are way too awesome!
this was by far the best song i have ever heard I'm hoping there will be more to come!
I’ve never touched this game or played it in my life but I love the chorus part.
For as much as people hate on DA2, I personally like it. Plus, the true purpose anyone should be posting for this video is not to comment on the game, but for the purpose of the video itself. Therefore, my comment on the video is thus: Awesome! Love the music. It's catchy and has been in my head all day! Good work with release trailer footage worked in there. Perfectly fit in with the lyrics. Spectacular timing.
As much I loved the first one and even thought the second one kinda killed a few parts of the good stuff, I still really like Dragon Age 2, for the party members, its combat(despite being a button masher) and I liked the qunari design. I liked the fact they tried to give Hawke a voice and personality and too be fair, I considered it a stepping stone to try and build up for Dragon Age 3
I would really like a song about the Warden! The one and only Hero of Ferelden and Warden-Commander!
But besides that - Awesome work you guys!
This is one of my favourites! Even when I had nothing to do with games, like at all, I absolutely loved it!
One of the first songs by Miracle of Sound I heard, too.
well Varric definately made the fight against the arishok much cooler than what actually happened...
I love that this song is linked by chorus with the Inquisition song.
Also it is just me or do those one-eyed undead thingies look like Geth?
The Shades do a little 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can we have a Da O song please ?
Still listening to this song
Finally some people who share the same view as me. I love DA:O and i really enjoyed DA2. It was a different style of game and taking that in to account it was great. I also didn't actaully mind the end of Mass Effect but then i'm not as in to it as many fans. DA is my series
This is the best song of all songs you made. But, oh my god, PLEAS make Origins song too!
Love this song so much!! cx
i like the models of the Qunari in Dragon age 2, but i hate the models for the elves.
agreed.
Yeah, when I see DA 2 Dalish, I think of Benedict Cumberbatch for some reason
I've heard some people bag on the combat, which makes absolutely no sense, you are right on how the combat has improved it makes you feel as though you do control the flow of combat and are the one performing the action.
Dragon Age Origins tho, now that was a RPG!
DA:Origins is 1 of my top 5 games of all times for sure.
While the other Dragon Age games barely rate somewhere around 160-180. Went too Hack&Slash, + not enough options for character creation or advancements :/
Fight for your values and fight for your friends
Fight through this blight, find the light at the end
Through the age of the Dragon the people will talk
Of the day they were saved by a hero
Named Hawke
Come take a seat and I will recite you a tale
Of bold adventure spanning both sides of the veil
I knew a champion, we travelled far and wide
We saw so many wonders roving side by side
In the streets of Kirkwall we brought help to those in need
Word it spread so quickly of our dealings and our deeds
Fight for your values and fight for your friends
Fight through this blight, find the light at the end
Through the age of the Dragon the people will talk
Of the day they were saved by a hero
Named Hawke
Hawke, Hawke
Hawke, Hawke, Hawke
Into the deepest roads we ventured in the black
If we had only known what we were bringing back
We felt the fire of every Templar, every Mage
Caught in the crossfire of their politics and rage
Had to pull some strings and get them off each other's backs
There was a much greater danger waiting to attack

Why is there no DA: Origins song?
This is by far the best thing to come out of dragon age 2...at all.
All these years later and I've yet to find a song better than this one or your Dragon Age Inquisition song.
Top tier stuff
Named my baby Varric.
Please do a Dragon Age Inquisition song, I could listen to it while I play.
He made one, and it was awesome....
anyone ever just come back to this song after not hearing it in forever?
I've not listened to this properly in many years but lately it's been creeping back into my brain so here I am. Some tunes just get stuck in your head forever.
This song is fantastic, and the video accompanies it perfectly. Gav, I liked the way you showed Sandal on the line about the greater danger waiting to attack. Both games sorta hinted at Sandal being more powerful than he appears, and possibly quite dangerous. I hope that Inquisition explains that, and I can't wait to hear your song about it. Keep up the wonderful work.
I'll be honest here... I really do prefer Dragon Age 2. It feels like there's more a charm to it and just more personality than Dragon Age Origins. I know I'll get a lot of hate for this, but I was a fan of it AND the change in the combat. It felt far more fluid and fun than DA:O. Can someone explain to me why so many people don't like it?
Well for instance there are the copy paste areas which makes it boring after awhile. You really mst love combat 'cause that is the 80% of the game. The other 20% are running, talking and leveling Hawke up. I'm not saying I don't like it because it is a great game because it is. One of the best games I've ever played. And the story is interesting as well though I do prefer the voiceless protagonist like in origins or KoToR because it really feels like it's you. Much more personal but I am fine with the voiced ones too I was first resentful but I grew to like Hawke and Shepard. Nice change.

Well, I've always felt like dungeons where copy paste to me. But I felt like DA2 did a good balance between story and combat. The first one had VERY dull combat. It's why I couldn't get through it. The story wasn't strong enough to make up for the lackluster gameplay, and at the end of the day, gameplay is what makes or breaks a game for me.
RapidFyrez I disagree a game without story is not worth playing to me (like CS:GO). Dragon Age: Origins' combat were focusing on using tactics it wasn't meant to be like witcher. And maybe it's just me but I think DA2 had a bit too much combat in it and not that many exploring looting and talking. You can't go two minutes at night without getting attacked by 50 armed men. There are unrealisticly too many people n the battlefield and some may say that's not a problem but in a game like this it is.
Well to be fair, DA:O had a similar issue at times, but the combat was far less entertaining. The fact was, for me anyway, it was engrossing enough to hold me over from cutscene to cutscene. I like DA II's because it's faster and fluid while still allowing for use of tactics. It's just that the fighting doesn't look and feel like something out of a high school play production anymore.
RapidFyrez Tactics in DA2??? Maybe it's just me but I just went in there and killed everyone in two second with only Hawke. Maybe playing on normal is the issue but in origins I was like 'how many are ou fucks out there I'm having trouble killing even one!' and that was in normal. Like the Childer in awakening. With overwhelming they could destroy me in seconds.
I actually love this game. The characters are (IMO) better than the ones in both Origins and Inquisition. The gameplay is fun. I much prefer the smaller scale "personal" story than I do the "save the world" style of the other games. Sure, it has its flaws (re used zones, the ending, etc.) but it's still a good game, especially story wise.
so you like playing as an incompetent idiot that fails miserably at everything and causes the death of millions of innocent people? to each their own
+Sandro Guzelj how would you have handled the events that happened in the story? The way i see it Hawke is more human than the warden in Origins BECAUSE he had his faillings. He may have been the trigger for the events in the game, but at the end of the day these events would have transpired either way with or without him. the difference is that he did his best to stand for what he tough was right and that doesn't make him incompetent or an idiot.
Why did you make one about DA2, but not DAO?
DA2 is more recent.
The Code Teacher Well they should play DAO, then make a song about it :)
Damn right !
Mohammed Huda I do agree but cut the guy some slack. It can't be easy making so many awesome songs all the time.
Enuma Elish that is true. I got most of his songs.
This is like the best song ever. PERIOD.
***** I think I did once! Haha xD because it'd be a nice addition to his Dragon Age related songs :3
+Alex Marcat Were it any other man I doubt they'd be able to top this, but this is no mere Mortal. One of his parents just had to have been the god of music for a demigod of this talent to have been born.
Thank you, I completely agree, that is what I was trying to get across, obviously I didn't succeed so thank you!
You know what's the funniest?
When singing this out loud brings a shout from across the room that "Bioshock song is better", as your sibling starts to sing Dream of the Sky.
You call it funny, i call it awkward
Obviously you're the only one...
I wouldn't call it funny or awkward. I'd just call it a story.
Johnny Jesus
i think it is funny
"There was so much greater danger waiting to attack!"
(Zooms in on Sandal).
sandal is the maker him self
greyassassin24 Dear Maker, Merril is so funny and confusing
She's so damn adorable.
greyassassin24 But she ruined some missions I did together with her. Nevertheless, congratulations to BioWare for creating so cool caracters
I am obsessed with this song....and anything dragon age. But it so good. I would love another one for DAI when it comes out of course. lol
good to listen to this again after years
Does anyone actually like both of the games?
Yes.
i like both of the games.
me, my sister and others I know
Same goes for me.I liked the stories though the repetitive areas were one of the the reasons why it didn't get over 8+
I really did like Dragon Age 2, but I recognize the issues it had. The biggest one for me was all the recycled maps. One that makes me laugh that people mention as something that turned them off to it that I find it ironic, since DAO had the same problem, but "rose tinted glasses" make DAO flawless. That issue being sometimes enemies just spawn. At least with DA2 they TRIED to make them spawn up on the city walls and look like they were jumping down when possible. There are quite a few places in DAO where stuff (and I am not talking shrieks or genlock rogues) would just spawn in front of you.
I think the biggest problem with DA2 though was people expected it to be Dragon Age 2 in the way of Mass Effect 2. They wanted the Warden to return like Shepard, but it was a totally new character, plus the whole "human only" thing turned a lot of people off.
Great song. Now, to business.
Can I have some salamanders, please?
"A much greater danger waiting to attack"
Shows Sandal
Still one of THE best songs you've made.
This song just oozes Pen'n'Paper for me - I don't care for the game or the setting yet, but the cameraderie (is that the way you spell it?) in it exemplifies every great adventure I've been on with my friends.
"Fight through this blight, find the light at the end" - that line should be the motto of the pandemic
If you can make such a great song with DA:2 i can only imagine the epicness you could achieve making a DA: Origins one...please try to make it... pleasepleaseplease
=D
Through the age of the lame music the people will talk
Of the day they were saved by a hero
Named Gavin
Just cracked this on some surround sound.
Absolutely fantastic, one of my favourites to this day.
Kinda pity that you did not inspired yourself with orginal soundtrack, like in the Wake the White Wolf or My Revolution or London Town. It's not bad, but I think Inon Zhur had a few gr8 pieces put in this game like Mage's Pride, Destiny of Love. In my opinion this song doesn't give the taste of a story, wich was the most important in this game.
I really like the energy, it's amazing, even a little tension, but it makes choruses feel flat and it doesn't hit as hard. But I love those strong HAWKE and the fact that you did something similar in next one.
In the end, It's good, very good even, but not magicaly great. I like it thought and I'm very happy you made it.
So that would be theme song if they ever made Dragon Age cartoon.
This game had some replay value, I just think that the biggest fault is that they thought too small.
Garrett Hawke looks super hot, I gotta admit.
By Andraste's hairy eyeball, that song is so catchy, I just can't get it out of my head anymore since days.
Going to be ten years old near the end of the year but it's such a good song.
Pretty sad people shat on DA2 despite it still being a better game and having a better ending than Inquishition and the double cliffhanger endings from the base game and the DLC. I have no faith for DA4, Bioware was dying after EA bought em and was being choked to death all the way through ME3 before they died and their stinking corpse released DA:I and Andromeda.
You know, it's funny but in the game trailer when they show us the mage hawk they also showing us one of the most powerful classes (from my perspective of course XD) from the game :3...Idk why but the mage one felt a lot better to handle o.o
because so many people see mage and they are like "ooo a chance to power play, thanks bioware"
NekoSoren on Dragon Age all depend on the player, couse i know people that ignore almost all the spell the the mages have and they dont like it . . . but i . . . i love be a mage
Darwin Ant. Diaz Hidalgo That's cause mage in Dragon Age 2 is broken. Force Mage spec, Blood Mage spec. You win. I played rouge my first time through and I might play through the game again as a warrior to see if it's as entertaining, but Mage Hawke is so unfair it's close to criminal.
Well considering they never really finished the game whole, maybe they couldn't balance the classes right. I mean...maybe if they had more time classes would be more balanced. Still i can tell you something in advance, at some point, you will grow tired of Warrior Hawke
Not much in terms of dynamic combat, I'm guessing? I'd assume Warrior Hawke would be the most linear to play cause they're the tank. You sit there, soak damage, shield bash to stun and wide swipe to kill. 's why I went Rogue Hawke first. Squishy in the early game but very good DPS if you can work the class properly.
This game doesn't warrant the hate it gets, but Origins will always be the best game of the series.
... Is "Varric" singing this ?
Yes he is.
Krosis sorrow
Yep, this is summing up the story in song format from his point of view... now... how do we actually get Varric to sing this?
Probably! While f&@#&%# hammered at the Hangman! Or Hawke's house, either or.
You have been blessed with a gift to sing
If the game were as awesome as the song that would have been great.
That was the comment I wanted to write since the beginning of this video :D
Dragon Age 2 was a pretty good game on its own actually, but as a sequel to Origins? It just failed to nail it...
IT WAS that awesome a game
John Pearl Meh, they repeated dungeons, the fighting was just repetitive waves of enemies, and the story and especially the ending were sort of shit.
Janos Valentine i agree the dungeons were repetitive, i don't mind the combat system. my biggest problem with DA2 was it didn't really feel like a sequel, more an independant game. thankfully the awesome characters and voice actors save it
"My friend became the saviour of the white city of chains" -> always kinda makes it sound like Hawke fought for slavery :p If you don't know the context of the game, of course.
The guy with the 2 weapons is arishok from heroes of dragon age right
...well considering this is a dragon age video...
yes. Yes he is.
*****
You honestly don't have to be condescending. For all he knew there was another similar-looking dual-weilding character.
well the game title is on the thumbnail, and true he could've had it messed up with someone else and maybe I was grumpy.
On the other hand my comment remains, at least the first part: It's called "Dragon Age Song" with "Dragon Age II" in the lower corner, a quick google would've gotten his answer for him without having to post a kind of silly question.
Secondly, with the Arishok being a very unique-looking character in DA, there is no real way to confuse him with any other character from the universe: he's one of a kind.
A little condescending? Perhaps, but ask a silly question, get a silly answer, right?
