For measuring resistance, or continuity, both sides of the components alongwith multimeter probes can not be touched because it will count the body resistance also alongwith component under measurement. This is very basic rule of electronics but here you have violated that.
Ok. Good enough if people want to know know how to check for NPN / PNP and which is the Base... The Collector & Emitter? that's the clever bit & needs more than a multimeter.
I think you are being a bit hard on him; You might encounter an unknown transistor or one that has no number printed on it; this method not only shows the base but shows the emitter/base to have a higher reading than the collector/base. Also it's not a bad idea to check the resistance between the collector and emitter; in the past I've had o/p transistors go s/c that way.
PNP = Positive (N)egative Positive: Where Base is connected to the (N)egative pin, and positive is connected to the Emitter pin. NPN = Negative (P)ositive Negative: Where Base is connected to the (P)ositive pin, and negative is connected to the Emitter pin.
On the principle this video is made, they should record books and call them video books. You expect to watch and listen, but instead you're thrown back to reading. And for efficiency you even get to wait for the text to be written. Just imagine how cool it would be to watch a video of a book just being written.
Sir, why u r confusing me?. IAM biginer in electronics, but in transformer and LEDs I used diodes which white band shows anode(+ve, positive) and my circuits working well in the white side as +ve.
