Mazda Protege OEM Nardi Install E.P. 22

EP 22 covers a quick and affordable mod using OEM parts from other Mazdas. In this case, this steering wheel came from a NB MX-5 Miata that had the Nardi logo. The wheel is nearly identical to the orginal Protege wheel and requires only a few tools and about 15 minutes to add that Nardi look to your cabin. You can purchase these on Ebay between $85-130 dollars depending on the condition of the wheel. They can be more expensive should you decide to buy them with the airbags. Easy to install, they look great, you get that real leather feel and its CHEAP!!

BUT....non I have seen are solid black wheels. They usually feature a silver like color. For me silver and black is a no go when it comes to the leather wheel. This is another reason I sourced this wheel from a Miata, not the MP3.

Try it. The Protege and Miata are very close. The Protege borrowed some parts from the 626 so it may work. Youll be the first find out!

Thanks for the reply! By any chance, would you know if I have to do anything if I were to use the miata airbag? Like, get it recalibrated or something along those lines?

@@TheRecof most likely the airbags are very similar if not the same. You can cross check on any Mazda OEM parts website the airbag part numbers and see if they are the same. The miata and protege are similar so i doubt you would need to do anything else the resistance in the bags likely is the same. But check first. You can also reference service and repair manuals on both cars ( ALLDATA or Mitchells ) and check resistance values for any differences. The small wiring harneses and plugs to the bags are very similar if not the same as well.
