    I just noticed the door stuck on fresh air today on my 02 2.0 protege. Im looking at the servo. ITS RIGHT F***ING THERE. I cant believe you have to do all this shite to replace it. Mind blowing.
    Im not afriad of turning wrenches but you lost me at having to recover the ac system and take out the evap core. Ill accept this as a dirty deal between the engineer and mechanics unions and go have a semi pro do this 😢

    These videos are great! Thank you much for posting these! How do you like that Ingersoll Rand wrench? I’ve got the 3/8” impact and love it.

      Well by now my 1/4 ingersoll rand cordless is broken. It needs a head. I cannot find one so i may wind up buying another one. But when it worked it was such a great tool. Ingersoll Rand is my #1 choice for pneumatic tools and will soon be for electic power tools. Glad u find the videos informative!

    Good job! I just replaced mine with another one from the junk yard.

      I considered this but since the life expectancy of a used part is unknown...i decided to just get a new one.

    I don't have a bad fresh airbutton but would i be able to clean the evaporator without discharging the AC? Is there anything else that could be done to improve air quality? Its a real shame these things don't have a cabin air filter!!!

    • @RetrocarStyle
      @RetrocarStyle Рік тому

      My thoughts exactly. It sucks these cars don't come equipped with a cabin filter. BAR G Enterprises ( BG Corporation) sells a evaporator cleansing kit. We sold these at the BMW Dealer and they went like hotcakes at a breakfast house. Some BMWs have issue with musty odors due to mold in the AC system. The kit is called BG Frigi - Clean. Its a foam aerosol cleaner. U simply put the long needle into the evap drain, and hook it to the bottle and push the button. The soapy foamy mix expands into the evaporator box and removes mold and dirt from the evaporator and cleans everything out. You would then run the ac on fresh air mode to produce max condensation droplets to flush out the foamy mix...though it will run out after it de-foams itself. It leaves a fresh scent in the vents. It also comes with another aerosol to spray on cabin filters to kill dust mites and mold...in the case of the protege, u can just use it as an air freshener.

    Could this also cause water to come in by the blower motor on rainy days? Trying to figure out what it could be and it’s driving me nuts I’ve already replaced a fried blower once

      Anything is possible I suppose. I have never experienced water coming in through the fresh air vent. I do get water but it comes in from the driver side A pillar where the antenna is mounted. I was going to do a video on removing the antenna and welding up the opening. Replacing the gasket is too expensive as it is not sold separate from the entire antenna mast assembly. Nearly 200 bucks just to get a $5.00 gasket. Not for me. Besides I dont listen to the radio..i just dont like whats on the waves and frequencies so deleting it will be a non issue for me.

      If you are getting water on the passenger side, open hood and open the plastic cowl cover and make sure its not full of leaves and dirt and make sure the cowl drain is free of debris.

      @@RetrocarStyle I really appreciate the helpful videos and the comments!! I will try as you stated and yes I also have the water leaking by my antenna.. going to delete it as well as I have rust by the top of the window and around the sides at the top so I need to remove the window and fix it all properly. Got the car recently and it’s ridden with issues… slowly ironing them out 1 by 1 and your videos are very helpful. I also experience the things you stated in the video so will most likely be doing this repair too.

      @@danielhofmann8699 Also consider that there may be a possibility that water may be coming in on the passenger side at the bottom of the glass. It may need a reseal or replacement.
