I've been playing since day one. Honestly, I've never felt the need to spend real money to achieve good milestones in the game. The only thing I did was take advantage of the 2-week free trial of the Gold Pass during the very first tours. So, I've always been a completely f2p player. I've reached Tier 80, and if all goes well, by the end of this tour I'll reach Tier 99. Other players, precisely because they paid, reached those goals much earlier than me? I don't care, I had fun anyway. The fact that even a f2p player can reach certain milestones means that, in the end, the game isn't so bad after all. The advantage of Mario Kart Tour, unlike other gacha games, is that to upgrade something, you just need to find it once and then level it up using the high-end tickets that the game gives you for free.

Still playing Tour to this day (and I only paid for gold pass, which is the most valuable offer in this game for the lowest price). Although after the loop announcement I play less, but still doing the ranked mode. Now I'm mainly focusing on getting all the drivers (and mii costumes). Will play until the next anniversary tour and I'll see what I will do next. If it will keep the same stuff over and over then I think I'll stop playing.
Maybe it has many flaws, but I love how different it is compared to previous eight entries. It gives you that arcade (aka score-focused) feel. I can understand this game is for many not their cup of tea, but for me this is my Mario Kart 9 (well, Nintendo considers it as it as well heh). So I hope when MK10 (or X) will happen eventually, they'll take most of the good stuff that Tour brought to the table, like track variants, return of special items, a better coin usage and most importantly - many of the character variants.

it is addictive. but i have got almost everything and havent spent a penney/coin. has taken a long time but i have ot very lucky in some cases. but it isent as bad as people say as they should give it a second try.
I also spent waaaaay too much money when the game came out and am VERY ashamed. Stopped playing after a few months, forgot it existed, remembered it existed last year, redownloaded it, played like 5 tracks, and never played again 🤣
