Played with guys on weekend who had M3 and M4 did not see the twist face helping them at all and my old Sub Zero said hi as it flew by as I’m starting to realise GOLF LESSONS are number 1 to hitting any club then maybe you will see a result thinking a club will help without lessons is a LOT to ask great reviews
im a 2 cap. i can attest to many semi heeled shots that have been almost perfect that would have been short right normally. it helps. ive had more of those than the push toe that ended up worse because of the flex face.
I bought my Rogue new three years ago and I’ve tested newer drivers since then. Nothing comes close to knocking my Rouge out of the bag. It’s still that good (for me).
The Rogue is an unbelievable driver. It is hot off the face and extremely long with forgiveness. I was fitted for the 917 D2, but just didn’t feel comfortable hitting it. I traded it for the Rogue without even getting fitted. Standard 9 degree w/evenflow blue 75 gram stiff shaft. It’s the best driver I’ve ever owned.
M4 was best for me. Ultimately if the fitter has the same shafts for both heads, the drivers are so close it shouldn’t matter. I was able to on course test M4. I liked what I saw on course and the monitor so I went M4.
Been saying it for years, it is all preference and feel. I am in the market for new clubs, been using Callaway for 20 years. I was in the local shop swinging TM, Ping, Titleist and Callaway. I was absolutely hammering the Ping G400max and it felt the best. When it was all said and done everything was within 8-12 yards, which isn't a massive difference. The Ping felt the best without a doubt, Callaway was a close 2nd.
Great review as always. I have gone from M2 to Rogue Sub Zero. Arguably not comparable, but the Rogue has a lot more length and consistency for me. I just don't like the red and blue on the M3/M4 TBH but each to their own
I hit both of these, and I thought they both felt spectacular, but for me, the Rogue Subzero had the least variance between shots on the monitor. On the course, that was confirmed. I have hit more fairways with this driver than any other driver I have owned. It seems to be 5 yard shorter than my Titleist 913 d3 I just retired, but I hit fewer fairways with that club. Love my new Rogue!!!!
Having got the M4 it’s all about the looks and feel for me really as I think this gave me more confidence looking at it resulting in better dispersion, only my opinion I tried M4 v Rouge v F8+ that was my top 3 in performance
Definitely love to see some comparisons old vs new. Callaway XR Vs Epic/Rogue and SLDR vs M range...Ping G . Be interesting to see how far you need to go before you see a discernable performance change
Another great video to watch. I’d happily use either one of these. I don’t buy into the hype though. Only change my driver when it’s looking a bit worn and tatty. Currently using a 915D2. Would rather I kept that as I like my Titleist stuff. Really, you are proving is that instead of buying a golf game, go see your local pro and get lessons.
I am a scratch golfer and tested both drivers on the golf course. Both are very good but for me rogue sounds and feels much better. I like the look of the m4 but I saw that toe strikes don't draw back like on the rogue. The rogue felt also a bit more draw bias and a bit more forgiving equals in more consistent drives for me. But everybody needs to go out and try for themselves!
SuperYoda7 I was told by a Callaway CPO rep that the Rouge standard has a draw bias (slightly closed face). I’m a 4 handicap and don’t need a draw bias. My miss is a hook and it’s the main reason why I bought a Rouge Subzero. Waiting on delivery. bought the Rouge subzero 3 and 5 fairway metals too for the same reason; the CPO rep told me the Rouge standard fairway metals also have a slightly closed face.
Would kind of like to see dan hit a normal shot and then compare that to a shot where he is consciously trying to hit it higher in these types of videos. Similar to your hybrid fitting mark. Might be an interesting aspect of how the club performs. Live the videos. #getupdan
Had a driver fitting on Sunday. Was surprised when the ball I've always gamed was hurting my spin rate so much. 2400 with the ad333 tour and 3500 with the ProV 1. Never realised that there was so much difference. Get a ball fitting people!
This is Philip & Valentina, we are 7 years old and we watch your videos every night before bed with our dad. We hope to see Orla on a video soon and you inspired us to start our own UA-cam channel called a Super Twins. Thank you for morning y’all.
Decided to upgrade my old Taylormade R1 Driver and went for a fitting It was between the M4 and Rouge and although the numbers were near identical I went for the Rouge simply because it 'felt' better to me.
Love that Even Flow shaft that you guys had in the Rogue! Wish you had the same shaft in both clubs to make a perfectly equal comparison... But either way. I really don't think it matters and all drivers are pretty awesome these days.
Totally agree with Dan, sour cream all day, however not sure Pringles is the best chip. Personally Lay's for me, and for dipping I think you have to go with wavy Lay's. Thanks for the review on chips, really appreciate it.
The callaway Rogue is the best driver I’ve ever used. For slicers go with the draw variant. Honestly it’s impossible to slice the ball with it. I used a Taylormade before but callaway are on a different level. It’s put 20 yards on my drive aswell.
I have recently purchased a Callaway Rogue based on your and others reviews. The name and looks of the club sells them really, the performance numbers completes the deal. I think every golfer wants consistency rather than distance and if it gives me this I will be a happy man. I have the Taylormade R9 which delivers some good results but Im hoping the change will be good for me.
I don’t understand why people dislike this video. You have said had you have hit both clubs the same way the outcome would have been more or less the same. You not being biased in any way, so why the dislike!! On the other hand they just might not like Pringles.
Mark Irvine what is the point of it? I think we get it by now all drivers of a certain price mark are basically the same depending on whose hitting them. Getting boring now all this driver vs driver stuff just to be told the same outcome every time. On the plus side at least they didnt finish the holes off, how that has anything to do with the driver is beyond me?
gavin baxter I understand what your saying, so the next question is why waste your time watching it? It’s clear in the title of the video what it’s about. If your bored why watch it just to dislike it???
Love your perspective and your videos. I'm on the fence looking at the draw versions if these 2 clubs AND trying to match with their respective irons for a matching set. That said would like to know your thoughts which you prefer going all-in on if you were to choose the complete set. Also, I wish this comparison you would have used the same shaft in both. I'm a firm believer the shaft is a bigger factor in hit or miss on any driver. Thanks for your vids!
Yo Mark great video as usual but one thing that I noticed is that you seem to tee the ball lower than most pros and you get more of a driving lower flight. Please explain as most pros say to tee it high and let it fly.
I got to test out rogue a few days ago and compared to my (unfitted) big bertha fusion I loved it. The main thing I noticed was that on mishits it just kinda stayed straight ish rather than curving. Also I could actively notice a difference in spin even with the same shaft and strike and aoa. bbf was around 3k and rouge was 2100, and with my clubhead speed of 102 ish (at 5280 elevation. #milehigh) I saw similar carrys of like 265 but totals were about 20yds different.
I thought the first guy in light blue has an amazing swing, Closest swing to Ben Hogan I've ever seen and I've seen it all. Man!! your swing is every golfers dream !!
Mark just curious what your thoughts are on if roll and bulge are helping. Twist face seems to try and achieve the same thing by using different geometry. Would be interesting to test vs a flat club face! Love these videos. Keep them up!
I noticed in your original M4 review that it looked like you had the setting moved slightly to the lower setting. If that is correct, I think that opens the face a bit on Taylormade clubs. Might explain why the M4 went a bit right for the both of you.
My experience with twist face is that it favors a fader. Shots out of the heel side seem to come out very straight, low and screaming. I've hit a few rubbish drives that were pretty much as good as a good one. If I'm trying to cut it just a bit and miss it toe side it seems to come out left and try to stay relatively straight. My miss on cut swings seem to mostly come out relatively straight and the miss hits are usually just high and stinky out of the right side of the face. The one bad miss is when I try to draw the ball and get stuck under. That underplane, open face miss has a nasty gear affect and really dive bombs left with not nearly enough spin to stay in the air. Just for reference, I'm off 1, with a m3 460 one weight all the way foward and 1 in the draw side of the year track. 8.5* clocked down 2 clicks to lower so probably around 7.2, and it's shafted with a fubuki alpha 70x. So far I really see no categorical improvement over the m1 2017. The m3 actually seems to launch the ball higher than the m1 17, but it does spin it slightly less. My biggest issue is visually, as you take loft off of the head, with the combination of twist face, the club head called really look open at address, and if you sole the driver, it wants to fan open. I do like the 2017 m1 sound better.
Strangely inclined to agree with Parafield on the naming of the Rogue. Could either have positive or negative connotations. Having said that I’ve always enjoyed playing Callaway drivers (no deal to the irons though!! 😂) Interesting, unbiased review though - the quintessential pro! (Pun intended 😉) 😘
Surprised to see that TM didn't use any of their "Speed Foam" in their new M drivers. Surely there must be a large cavity in those 0.5* "Twist Face" drivers of theirs that could benefit from their "Speed Foam". Perhaps their engineering and marketing departments are not talking to each other. Perhaps we will see the "Speed Foam" in their drivers next year Mark?
I probably like the looks of TM better. I know that these technology advances can be subtle, but would you say that the “jailbreak” Rogue and Epic tech the biggest breakthrough in Driver tech in several years?
Think the TM is just one great marketing campaign [they all are essentially, but] from twist face, to livery, to geocoustic....does that mean the sound gets deeper the closer to the ground?
Mark, surely the twist face is to stop the ball going to far left with toe draw shots and the opposite for heel shots. So when you said you expected your toe shot to come back to the centre maybe it was the twist face stopping your normal shot!!!
Great review unbiased as well! any chance mark of epic v rogue just so us club golfers know whether to upgrade or stick!! Twist face ain't new think cobra marketed it first obviously dint work 🏌🏽🏌🏽🏌🏽⛳️
I think everyone is saying twist face has no benefits because they are thinking it well move the ball back to center or fairway, if stuck in the heel or toe But perhaps it moves the ball slightly more then the Callaway maybe just enough to be the difference in a fairway ball or the first cut
Just don't get the twist face theory. When ever I toe a drive, it usually starts right due to torque opening the face and the draw spin brings it back towards centre. That's perfect for me. I reckon I'd be playing from the right rough or trees with the m4. Be rogue all day for me. Think Taylor made are clutching at straws to sell clubs
Here's a thing. TaylorMade must be thinking of the new clubs (M5 & M6). Will they ditch twistface, like they did with the failed 'loft up' nonsense, or make twistface mk II with more loft twisted??? I'm thinking it will be ditched.
What about the shafts. Rogue your playing the evenflow (perhaps a better shaft for the stronger players...you two boys). The m4 shaft is likely softer. The m4 is available with the evenflow....stick that in and then compare. Like the on course reviews
I’m not sure about the question or logic here...so how would you test Cobra or Ping or other brands that don’t make balls? When testing clubs you use one type of ball to remove that variable from the testing. And manufacturers like Titleist and TM or Callaway are not designing balls to be optimized for only their clubs. They are just creating the best ball they can for any club. TM want more golfers than just TM club owners playing TP5 right? Just sayin!
I’ve just bought the epic, it was the same price as the rogue so I could have bought that but I preferred the looks and feel of the epic, played with it yesterday and it’s the best driver I’ve ever hit by a mile so I’m really happy. As for twist face I think it’s bullshit but I kind of think jailbreak is equally bullshit and if one company hadn’t broken out of jail then the other probably wouldn’t be twisting their face...
In the M3 and M4 drivers hammer head technology is not new to them it is an old technology that was used by their sister brand Adams Golf in their last go round with drivers. That being said Taylormade makes some solid golf clubs and they perform well. They look good they sound good, but just don't stack up to all the hype they advertise.
Dude rogue is a much better name then epic epic is just cheesy and almost everyone hated the name now everyone is liking the name rogue thats a great name it caught me just from hearing rogue its a much much much much better name I think thats the only thing you got wrong in this video I agree with your views on the taylormade twist face lol

Great review, I really enjoyed both and didn’t find a lot in it! Rogue always just pipping M4 by a few yards! Although I did prefer M3 to M4 !
Always respect Dan's opinion in these club comparison.... Love the product placement on Dan's bag at the end..lol
Would kind of like to see dan hit a normal shot and then compare that to a shot where he is consciously trying to hit it higher in these types of videos. Similar to your hybrid fitting mark. Might be an interesting aspect of how the club performs. Live the videos. #getupdan

Epic statement about the Rogue driver and Marketing! Great content as usual Mark!

How about a video on how to keep warm or dry in inclement conditions? Driving wind and rain, imagine that.....lovely.
Speaking of the large twist face model, if you read the fine print on the back it says that the model is 40x more exaggerated than the actual club
Looks like Dan is getting up more and more!
Totally agree with Dan, sour cream all day, however not sure Pringles is the best chip. Personally Lay's for me, and for dipping I think you have to go with wavy Lay's. Thanks for the review on chips, really appreciate it.
Well done fellas! Another dandy.

Barbeque please... Still gaming a 910 D2, these videos are helpful & Fun. Thanks.
A comprehensive club comparison and a certain brand not mentioned once. Keep up the independence Mark #getstuckin
Love your perspective and your videos. I'm on the fence looking at the draw versions if these 2 clubs AND trying to match with their respective irons for a matching set. Mark, if you ever come to San Diego, CA, let’s tee it up! Love your videos! 🙌🏽
Yo Mark great video as usual but one thing that I noticed is that you seem to tee the ball lower than most pros and you get more of a driving lower flight. Please explain as most pros say to tee it high and let it fly.

Found my old KingCobra S9 Pro-S
Pretty sure with my new shaft coming in ill past these 2 drivers like a boss!!!!
I thought the first guy in light blue has an amazing swing, Closest swing to Ben Hogan I've ever seen and I've seen it all. Man!! your swing is every golfers dream !!
Those shot tracers of Dan’s ... high balls!! #getupdan

I think it should have been called "The Werther!".....oh so high Dan...love it!
Can you take the ping g400max and add that to the mix next time......good review guys.
I’m gaming the M4 , love the looks off the driver but as for the twist face , 😂😂😂yip that doesn’t help 1 bit . Pringle 😂
My boy Mark Crossfield !
Love the rogue ...
liking the new lens what is it?
Should've called it the "" Callaway Mega Awesome Smasher Straight Wacker"
I noticed in your original M4 review that it looked like you had the setting moved slightly to the lower setting. If that is correct, I think that opens the face a bit on Taylormade clubs. Might explain why the M4 went a bit right for the both of you.
twist face is not helping tiger keep it in play any better.... i am stunned, another honest review
Like you said when you were using the Epic, it just eeks out a few more yards than the other, so why wouldn't you go for that one. Rogue it is!
Hey Mark
What about 2016 M2 v rouge?
That will be interesting...
I definitely like the flatter face on the m4 vs the tall face on the rogue. At address m4 looks nicer but I'd rather look at the rogue in my bag
I thought Dan couldn’t get it up (the ball guys ). You gave a lesson I bet WOW book it DANO
Dam you. as soon as you said pringles i had to go in the kitchen and grab some crisps
Hi Guys, you are both talented ball strikers, maybe a Ray mid handicapper occatonaly would be interesting to see the difference🤔
Have you seen the new twist my face TV commercial?? its "mind boggling"
I have the rouge
Golf equipment companies use marketing to try to sell more stuff??? Crazy!
I'm a TM player but I'm twisted between the two. I might end up being a Rogue.
Or your club might 'go rogue' on you! ;) LOL.
Surprised to see that TM didn't use any of their "Speed Foam" in their new M drivers. Surely there must be a large cavity in those 0.5* "Twist Face" drivers of theirs that could benefit from their "Speed Foam". Dan got them both up.
I probably like the looks of TM better. I know that these technology advances can be subtle, but would you say that the “jailbreak” Rogue and Epic tech the biggest breakthrough in Driver tech in several years?
Dan has such nice swing tempo
I choose Twist Face over the Rouge mainly on looks...#262
Think the TM is just one great marketing campaign [they all are essentially, but] from twist face, to livery, to geocoustic....does that mean the sound gets deeper the closer to the ground?
Nice club twirl at the end there Mark 😁
Mark, surely the twist face is to stop the ball going to far left with toe draw shots and the opposite for heel shots. So when you said you expected your toe shot to come back to the centre maybe it was the twist face stopping your normal shot!!!
I think twist face is only us full to a club testing robot. Do still like the look of the M4
I was eating a pringle when you mentioned pringles bruh!
a trick: watch movies at flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Jax Canaan yea, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Jax Canaan Yup, I have been using flixzone} for years myself :D
If you don't like the name "Rogue", should it have been called "Epic Too" ?
Hey Mark whats your view on Krank drivers?
Great video Mark! Is that the new lense again?! Looks EPIC!
Is that the Rogue Coach gamed in Turkey ?? Same shaft !!
I would like to see Rouge vs M3
I feel like you say the same thing about every single club you review lol
Nicely done again lads.
Would the Rogue be a good upgrade from an XR16?
Wow, That Rogue sounds Amazing!
So Mark, how are you getting your hands on the TM products these days?
Dan should bag the rogue.” It gets up “!! 😉🏌️⛳️🍻
Dan...if it feels good, buy it!
Great review unbiased as well! any chance mark of epic v rogue just so us club golfers know whether to upgrade or stick!! Twist face ain't new think cobra marketed it first obviously dint work 🏌🏽🏌🏽🏌🏽⛳️
Dan has confidence with Rogue. Accounts to why he hits it further than M4.
I think everyone is saying twist face has no benefits because they are thinking it well move the ball back to center or fairway, if stuck in the heel or toe
But perhaps it moves the ball slightly more then the Callaway maybe just enough to be the difference in a fairway ball or the first cut
It moves it the opposite way. It is like my cobra which makes a toe hit go straight by counterspin. It can get kinda weird.
So once again... wait for it... strike is king!!
That big twisty face thing is 40x the effect than what is on the actual club
I don't like the red and blue of the M4 and I've seen that you can customize your rogue to several different colors on Callaway equipment website.
Weather in the UK is so fucking brutal, I’m sure you Brits love it though 👍🏼. Cheers!
The twist my Face Story !
What about the shafts. Rogue your playing the evenflow (perhaps a better shaft for the stronger players...you two boys).
The m4 shaft is likely softer.
The m4 is available with the evenflow....stick that in and then compare.
Like the on course reviews
How can you test the drivers if you don’t match the driver brand to the ball brand?
I’m not sure about the question or logic here...so how would you test Cobra or Ping or other brands that don’t make balls? Callaway all day !
Darth Rogue in all black! Who wants one?
Narrower depth of field on this vid? New lens?
Callaway "Legendary"
In the M3 and M4 drivers hammer head technology is not new to them it is an old technology that was used by their sister brand Adams Golf in their last go round with drivers. Was interested in golf clubs, now all I want is twisties and pringles
