  • There are many ways to prepare Chicken Wings. Smoked. Fried. Or, as I do in this video, grilled. Using the Direct Grilling Insert from Lone Star Grillz, I grill up a couple dozen wings over lump charcoal and pair them with a homemade Spicy Ranch Dip.
    Spicy Ranch Dip Ingredients
    ¾ cup Sour Cream
    ¼ cup Mayonnaise
    2 TBSP Half & Half
    2 TBSP Fresh Chives Chopped
    1 TBSP Hot Sauce
    2 tsp Minced Garlic
    ½ tsp Kosher Salt
½ tsp Coarsely Ground Black Pepper
    ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper
    ½ tsp Dried Dill Weed
    1 tsp Honey

We’ve done wings many ways over the years Ry but the grilled wings over charcoal have always been my favorite.

There are a lot of BBQ videos, but few have the combination of easy to watch and great recipes. I love Ry's music. It's kind of like going to a spa...

Ry, those look perfect. A game changer for eating the wing. Break off one of the knuckles, pull the smaller bone out, then you can just pull the entire meat/skin off in one go. I like this method of gorking down the wings as you get the whole flavour experience.

If you are fighting with spacing while putting them on a tray. I have found rotating the drummets big end to little end every other one gains you some space.

Those wings turned out great and now you are going to make me make yet another dip of yours. I made chicken wings with your ranch dressing with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and I loved it. I'm also going to be making a thousand island chipotle peppers in adobo sauce burger sauce. I will also be trying this one as well.

Done that many times. But you need to try these recipes for your wings. I toss my wings in these sauces. 1. Pour some ranch dressing into a bowl, then slowly add Louisiana hot sauce into it. Mixing it up real well. I stole this one from a poolhall that served wings. Now this recipe is from years of mistakes, but I finally got it. Melt a stick of butter in a bowl, once melted add equal parts of Garlic powder and Parmesan cheese and mix well. I start with a tablespoon first then slow add more. If it gets to thick, then just add another stick of melted butter. All my friends of this recipe and also my Moose lodge uses it for there wing night. I grill my wings first, then bake them to get slightly crunchy then I place the wings into a large bowl and add one of the sauces and toss well.

I love your enthusiasm. It would be good though if you and many other American UA-camr’s make your own rubs, reason being we can’t get many of these rubs in the UK! we can order some of them though but at a huge cost especially with postage which prohibits purchasing them. Like your ranch dip experiment with rubs.

Big thumbs up for promoting small rub makers. Please consider this -- a lot of rubs are "me too". The they are some combo of SPG, paprika, etc. It would be good if you told us why this or that rub is special. What does it have in it that's different than the other guys...

I quit covering my wings during the rest period. I feel like it creates a lot of moisture(sweat)and makes the skin less crispy. Besides, they are usually too hot to eat for that first ten minutes anyway. Just throw them in a bowl uncovered.

Just curious, Ry…I have a Weber kettle and a basic gas grill (with an upper rack)…Do you have any advice on how to make these wings work without using the Offset, and keep them from burning up with direct grilling? Thanks.

    • @CookingWithRy

I would use the gas grill and let the upper rack be your grilling surface 👍
