these slippers are beautiful. they seem hard because you're estimating everything but I think having a video makes it within my reach. I would love to sport these around. time to go buy some flip flops to make these. thank you for posting this video!!!!
This video is 6 years old but I hope you read this in your best health. I'm degenerative sick. Psychically and physical. My feet hurts like heck and i was in my mind made some of similar stuff. But now i know it's possible and I hope that those shoes are will help me a lot and they look cute here. Great work. I'll follow you and let you know if it's helped me. I just want to be more active with my feet. Lovely, non native greetings ( pls be patient with my grammar) ❤
Whoaaahaaa this is a very brilliant idea to do!! Here in Indonesia, everyone wear slippers & our slippers often tear/ripped off 😂😂. So instead of throwing the slippers to the rubbish, i wilk try to make this. TQVM for sharing ur knowledge / video!! 😍😍
this is an awesome tutorial!!! thank you for really taking the time to show how its done. as some one who is self taught its hard for me to just go and read patterns so i really appriciate the time you put in to explaining each step. Extremely helpful video! thanks again! namaste!
I have just watch 6 different ways to add the crochet to the flip flop and this has been the best version ever and it looks so much better than the other ones, thanks for sharing I feel that I can now give this a go .🤗🤗 Thanks for sharing. The best part is I can use two different size flip flops as I have one foot larger than the other 😿 yep buying shoes was very very expensive now I can make my own 😹 and save a bit of money .. alright a lot of money😹😹😹 Thank you for sharing🤗🤗🤗
Make & Do Crew 😹😹 your so right there, me Da has gone and got an old tyre from the local tyres changing place 😹😹😹 he thought he would make the soles for me, got to love him for that so I have left him to it which was surprising as he came back with a tyre sole and added some corking for the part that me foot will be in contact with my foot 😹😹😹😹 they are quite nice so it will be interesting how it converts to a pair of shoes 😹😹😹
I would glue mole skin onto the inside of the foot bed, this would make it much more comfortable. Also, instead of crocheting the starter base I would do a whip stitch using the yarn needle, I'm my opinion it makes the edging look neater.
That's EXACTLY what I did when I made my first pair!! Those two areas where the thong for the shoes go REALLY hurt you foot after a while!! It's not very comfortable.
My Minnetoka mocs finally wore out - and I kept the leather laces - NOW I know what to do with them! Love your mocs and your creativity and thank you for sharing.
thank you so much for this video! please please please make a video for the summer crochet flip flops. lol I'm looking at the pattern & i think I'm lost, so I'm going to improvise for this pair and hopefully the next pair will be right 😂
I have made these and I love them. The hardest part for me was the top part. For some reason it kept turning out to big. Maybe my foot wasn't wide enough. So I used a smaller needle. It kind of helped. The first pair was an size 8 for my daughter in law. They were perfect, but with them being navy , you could tell any thing was wrong, lol. The second ones were for me, a size 7. I had to adjust the middle again, I had to figure out how to make it not as wide on the top. They look pretty good, but I think I still have to make an adjust ment. To bad some one can not see what I have done with my moccocines, that I made so they can tell me what I did wrong. Now that I used a smaller needle on the middle , it seemed to be to short. Now it looks like I have to make the hight of the shoe in the front lower. I followed the video perfect, I think. It takes me a while to catch on, but practice makes perfect. Lol. I find that I can visual follow the pattern better then, the reading part. I just forget the abbreviations, all the time.
Great video definitely gonna try this! But next time could you please not put white words over your white background it really made it hard to read them.
I am fascinated by this whole concept of making my own moccs! (And espadrilles.) Can't wait to try this. Any suggestions for making the toe box area a good fit for someone like me who wears an XX-wide shoe? Maybe a bigger diameter hook? More increases on the rows? Thanks for sharing this project!
Have you try to glue on after you crochet it instead of pushing holes on to the flip-flop or after stitching the crochet on the holes you can glue it so it will never fall apart
So it'd make sense to go a size BIGGER so that you avoid the sole from tugging and you get the acquired number of holes needed to have a better fitting sandal.
Jess what have u done to me?? My teen daughter saw the beginning of this video as I’m perusing “flip flop” shoes...and blurts out “I WANT THOSE!” 😂😂😂😂 #MyCrochetToDoListIsLongerThanAFiveYearOldMakingHerFirstPracticeChain 😳😳😳🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 thank you for the great patters and Tuts! 👍🏽👍🏽💜💜☺️☺️😉😉
hello. how are you. I have started to make the slipper. as I gather in the 4th row you have increased 2 stiches in the corner of pinkie toe and the big toe. what I could not under stand was that from the 5 to 8 row have you again increased the stiches or have just single crochet the stiches. thanking you for your help and waiting for your reply.
Two questions because I want to wear these on stage. 1. Would this make a lot of noise since it's flip-flop soles? I need to know since I might wear these for my costume when I play the lead Lost Boy in Peter Pan. 2. Would these be good to run, dance, and skip in? I also need to jump up on a bench onstage and then jump down, so will these stay on?
I love the idea of you wearing these in a play! My suggestions would be to try some different flip flops on and see how much noise they make on the floor you'd use them on. (I like the Old Navy flip flops that cost between $2-5. I don't find them super noisy either.) I believe mine would stay on for the type of jump your describing. The most important thing is to make sure you meet the pattern gauge by crocheting really tightly. I'd use the yarn suggested in the pattern (24/7 Cotton) because it doesn't stretch much. If you find that they're falling off for some reason, you could always use a tie threaded through the back to synch them tighter. Hope that's helpful!
Hello....could you please make a video tutorial for espadrilles flip flop sole? I really love that style and I had seen the pattern in your website but it's still difficult for me to follow the pattern - even in written pattern....(I'm still newbie in crocheting). My learning method is usually practising-while-watching.... thank you in advance :)
For anyone wanting to start this project, I urge you to see if you can understand the second video first! The second video was done very poorly and a lot of us have already done the first video which is the majority of the shoe and now we cannot understand the 2nd video. The person or people do not seem to care to even reply back to our comments!
I tried this today. I got frustrated when I tore the rubber part as I was creating holes and while crocheting the first few stitches. I put away this project for now. I'll try on different flip flops.
Hey Jasmine, Can you tell me a little more about what you mean? How many inches tall or how many inches between the toe and the heel? I'm happy to help if you give me a little more info about what you need. :)
heyy! I looked at another video and actually got the answer i was looking for. But I was talking about how many inches to stop at on the heel & the toe area. (i.e. the back heel area should be 2 inches tall , or the toe area should be around an 1 1/2 inches before moving in to the half double crochets)
I have tried to make these shoes over and over again following the pattern exactly as shown, with no luck. The toe of the shoe ALWAYS comes out too big. You could fit two feet in one shoe. They end up looking like clown shoes. Don't waste your time or money!
Hi Debby- the complete pattern is split into 3 tutorials. Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/hC9wIU56x8I/v-deo.html Part 3: ua-cam.com/video/HzlIHkEYRaA/v-deo.html
+make & do crew thanks for making a vid on this...i am not sure if you are aware of not, but your 'type' is VERY HARD to SEE since it is white on the white background and the bright lights!!! also maybe in the future you could zoom camera in a little bit so we can see, (yes i had it full screen-you had it showing as a sq box not movie or letterbox, not sure how to say this) esp when it is being filmed overhead, it really needs to be zoomed in closer to be able to see! and maybe use a darker background like a beige/tan or something...the white with the bright lights was just really harsh. NOT hating just giving some advice/opinion from someone who really wanted to see this and make it one day! :) thanks again Jess
I agree about the type, Cindy! I learned a lot from making this video and am trying to make a better space for the type to "live" in the next one. The video is meant to accompany the full free written pattern, so feel free to follow along with that if it's easier to see! (Link is in the description for this video.) Happy crocheting!
Mein Englisch ist nicht so gut. Und auf einem weißen Hintergrund, weiße Schrift setzen, ist nicht gerade hilfreich. Die Schuhe finde ich toll aber so kann ich sie natürlich nicht machen.
It is a pity that sometimes it has the fast mode in the video one can not take the time to learn well how to do all the tutorial It would have been nice to make the normal video for those who want to learn how to do well.

thank-you love the way you turned flip flop soles into slippers. going to give it a try.
Thank you so much. I enjoy your teaching method. Nice and slow and show what you are doing.
Gosh, thanks a lot Terry. That's really nice to hear.

Make & Do Crew ☺️ that’s me Dad, he’s always surprising me he was the same with Mom before she left before him at least it keeps him happy and busy 🤗
Just found your video, can't wait to get started o. A pair!

These are gorgeous! Thanks for the video! I'm planning on making these for a Christmas present!!!
excellent teaching style
My Minnetoka mocs finally wore out - and I kept the leather laces - NOW I know what to do with them! Love your mocs and your creativity and thank you for sharing.

YAY! So cute, so happy you did a flip flop video. Want to try making some but was too scared haha :-) thank you for video!

I made a mistake in part of my comment , I said the first pair were perfect, I ment to say they were not perfect.
B'coz of this video that i accidentally found.. I've subscribe ur channel 😊
very useful keep the good job going.

Awesome!!
It would be nice if you would show the piece you're working on every once in awhile so we can see if ours looks like yours. Thanks.

Very very beautiful 👏👏
Muchísimas gracias.Precioso trabajo.
So it'd make sense to go a size BIGGER so that you avoid the sole from tugging and you get the acquired number of holes needed to have a better fitting sandal.
Could I make a regular crochet sole and start this pattern after you do the single crochets connecting the flip flop?
I too like her voice plus she speaks English. Since the Holes are on the side it should be long waring.

zaista mnogo lepo
Can you send me a link just for the flip flops ..? ..
Love these!!! Really want to make a pair and I was wondering if I could substitute the cotton yarn for acrylic yarn like Red Heart super saver?
Drica West that is what i was thinking ??? i do have colors on that yarn not cotton..
Me gustaría hacer este proyecto, pero no entiendo inglés. que posibilidades hay de verlo es español?
Are there other skeins of yarn similar to Lion Brand 24/7? My local store does not carry it.
Payton B hello, I know you posted this a year ago but did you ever find a substitute? My store sells it but not the color used :/
É só na metade da sola?
could you possibly send me the written instructions? or where I can find the written instructions. These look so fun
Can u use the pattern for a size 6?
i used old navy flip flops and when i pulled the needle through it pulled all the way through
I went on the site joined and could download pattern for the boot. any suggestions.?\
If you use this link, it will take you to the pattern. It is at the bottom of the page.

Bravo 👍👍👏👏💝💝🌹🌹🇩🇿🇩🇿
can you add a video for making the top part for kids please
thanx
amei e um desafio grande vou tenta
Wut type of tool did u/she use to poke the holes into the rubber sole???
Hi Melody! I use a clay sculpting tool for poking the holes. There is a link to it in the materials list for the free pattern. :)
Make & Do Crew thx. I can't wait to make these...
What other yarn can I use ?
if you could give an estimate of about how many inches its supposed to be for the front toe part and back heel part
Hey Jasmine,

it looks like a good project but wont the stitches pull out of the flip flop
