You are the only other person I've seen who holds their yarn the way I do. I'm not alone! I attend a lot of indoor meetings that are casual dress. I think these would be great. Thank you!

I made some into boots a few years back and would wear them out. I finished off the sides of the flip flop with a chain stitch that I glued around. Loved those things...

I actually made a pair of these today for my grand daughter, my own daughter sent me the link and went shopping for my supplies to have me make them for her... I've got seven pair to make now! Since I didn't watch the video through before making them, we didn't size down as suggested. I've made two strings of chain stitch and thread them in the top of the slipper. They will tie in a pretty bow towards the side, near the small toes area. What a wonderful video you've shared with us! I also used an awl bought from the seeing section at Walmart and I used the 45* angle so the yarn doesn't get walked on.

Update to soles: I have actually updated this pattern by shoving the awl from the top out the side of the sole, leaving the bottom solid. It helps with the yarn not being walked on the bottom & wearing out quickly. Thx!

This is an awesome tutorial! I tried a similar pattern from somewhere else, and got lost at the decorative toe. I can do this one! I love how patient and clear your instructions are. I would recommend this one, to understand the toe and heel decreasing part, as a beginner crocheter like myself, before venturing into a more complicated pattern. I love the simplicity! Thank you sooooo much. I think I will rip back to the first row on the sole, which was done with the slanted holes, thank goodness!

Thank you so very much for this tutorial. You did a wonderful job. Easy to follow and you get right to it with out the long preamble some UA-camrs tend to do. Love Love Love it. I made a pair of these using your directions. The things I did differently: Used another pair of flip flops to cover crochet threads and give more cushion to the soles, I used E6000 glue to join them and secure plugs in bottom flip flop extending into top flip flop about 1/4 of the way. I used "Knitcrosheen" instead of yarn. After doing 3 rows of single crochet I used some different stitches to give a more interesting pattern to the upper. For intermediate and advanced crochet you should be able to improvise on the stitches used. I also added a strap across the arch section of shoe. Wish I knew how to attach a pic to this, but alas you will just have to use your imagination.

You can use clear drying silicone to fill those holes. That way it will be clear and not poke you in the foot. That's also what I use on the bottom of my crochet footies.

Like Jessica Mendes I wonder if you have tried going on up and making a bootie? It would be so cute for cooler weather and for wearing outdoors. Your top to side punching is a great idea to make them more weather proof. Your skipping repetitious parts is great. Good, clear instruction! Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing. You teach well. Quick, simple, and easy to get supplies that don't cost too much. Such a fun and useful project. Great video. I was wondering if a person were to get Shoe Goo, I think that is what it is called, and just sort of brushed it on over the yarn on the bottom of the shoes, maybe that would keep the yarn from wearing out so quickly and make it a bit water proof for walking outside. Just a thought. Thanks again for the great tutorial. Oh, I have purchased the Shoe Goo in the shoe department at Walmart for shoe repair.

I think an outdoor glue or rubber glue is better and just use the thin part and plug. Those bottoms bits are notoriously falling off. That Aileens would never last. It's not made for that. Love the project. You should reinforce your yarn with outdoor glue on soles also or cover with a piece of rope round edge to cover yarn .

+Sheri Watkins yes exactly. I posted a comment awhile back with a revised pattern mentioning the angle approach.

I want to make these for a friend who has Spina Bifida and it's unable to wear regular shoes. Her feet swell up pretty big, would I just have to add more base rows of sc instead of just 4 to make them bigger?

hello. how are you. I want to know that row 8 and 9 are only single crochet under each stich before writing tie off or do we reduce stiches in row 9 asdonecincrow 5 and 7.

Love these. I was wondering if you have a pattern on making them as just a slip in slippers- no back. I'm looking to do slippers like that with the flip flop sole but can't find a pattern/tutorial.

I do not...but you could always just start them at the side and work back and forth to make just the toe part!

Would you want to put something on the underfoot stitches to keep them from wearing out easily?
