It's amazing how incredibly consistent runners are yet still manage to miss the Bowser throws despite basically no RNG involved. Granted, I've never had my blood pumping seconds away from getting a world record, so I'm not one to talk.

Problem is that I don't think we'll ever discover the _actual_ best possible time, humanly or TAS. Too many variables involved with 3D platformers, where Mario Bros. can be broken down much easier.

at 52:14. Weegee is doing the thing that every fucking guy does after getting a wr or a high PB. they all like, brace themselves and I cant help but notice it all the time.
This run proves that at least 46:3x will definitely realistically happen eventually, but IMO I'd put the current limit sub 46:30. But I don't play much, so I'd be curious of other opinions!
I've watched a lot of SM64 runs, and pretty much none of them have played on the Japanese version of the game. I think you might have it confused for something else. Generally, the reason why Japanese is faster is because it has more information in fewer characters than English, so if a game shows one character per frame during dialog, the Japanese text will go by faster. However, in SM64, all the text in each text box appears at the same time, so there's no benefit to using Japanese. Although I'm not familiar with what Simply was talking about with the English version being 1 second faster than the Japanese version
@@fahkyew7776 jp is faster overall for 120 and 16. Eng text scrolls faster but is slower in other areas like the intro and jrb cannon star being in a box
Thats only because weegee plays extremely close to his best splits otherwise. There are runs that look more clean, but lack of all the small timesaves he does. Same with liams 1:37. Simply said, a 1:37 is a time where he could stop with SM64, but there are still a lot of mistakes. If you look at the difference of the SOB compared to the WR (especially before the last throw), its very, very close for such a long run. Dont undererstimate this run. There is a reason that only 2 humans have ever accomplished a 46, even though the strats were there for 1,5 years
