Where are you from? Welcome to the Philippines. Next time, say THE Philippines. It's like The Netherlands, always with a THE before its name. However, when using the Philippines preceding a noun (islands), the Philippines becomes Philippine islands -- no s on the Philippines. I know this is a minor issue but still the correct one. Thanks for enjoying the Philippines.
Anywhere in the world there are slum areas not only in the Philippines. Even the richest countries like America, Japan and European counties etc have its own slum areas. It is just but natural that all countries have their jobless people, homeless families and slum areas.

Ube is purple yam (Dioscorea alata) whereas taro is locally known as gabi (Colocasia esculenta), not to be confused with purple camote or sweet potato (Ipomeia batatas).

Hi Koala, The Philippines looks so modern now. The food looked delicious. Did you try to Pancit and Adobo Chicken? I recently had Ube in pastry form. At one point, Manila was supposedly the most densely populated city in the world. Did you get the chance to ride in one of the Jeepney taxis? Thanks for sharing your travel adventures.

So nice traveling with you. You're so well spoken and very intuitive. Indeed, a good intuition is crucial when traveling to adventurous locales. I've visited 31 countries, half traveling rough.
I'm 70 now, and my adventuring days are in the past. Along with skydiving, rock climbing, and drag racing motorcycles. Sigh! It's videos such as yours that allow me to travel afar virtually. None of this new tech existed when I was abroad, so all I have are 35mm slides. By the thousands

There are also lots of great places to visit near the area of Malate Manila except for Intramurous ,like the Okada, Star city, PICC, Philippines Navy HQ, Baywalk, Rizal Park, Ocean Park etc.. I recommend you visit PICC and Baywalk during around 5-8am Saturday and Sunday (Bunch of people are exercising and sightseeing there). MOA, Rizal Park at around 4-8PM (it becomes more livelier.

I'm always proud of my country , the Philippines. Most foreigners, think that Philippines is like this , like that, although they haven't been there. Dirty, very poor country, many homeless people, etc., etc. I admit , many poor people, but, many are very rich also, like many other countries, even the richest country in the world, you can see also, very poor and homeless people. They to visit the Philippines.

Yes this is the modern new Manila w/ many high rise buildings n condominiums....the old Manila is Intramuros, Quiapo, Divisoria, but Binondo/Chinatown has also undergone tremendous changes over the years

I have lived in other countries and yes, that BGC are looks like you are in a different country. Well, I believe there are other parts of Manila that are constructing other Central Business Districts, just like in Ontario.

3:25 and 9:19, I went there many times, but all at night, it's good, but it's hot, humid and it rain. I from Paranaque and it's very far away to go there, so I go out at 4, 5 or 6pm. Reason is heavy traffic going there.

You definitely can't compare the Din Tai Fung here to the one in Hong Kong. They're just using the name, but it's nowhere near in terms of quality. Hope you enjoyed your stay and get to try lechon or dampa next time.

I've always wondered why the filipino-american cemetery at bgc has been largely ignored by the american public. it is after all, the largest fallen war memorial outside of the usa - not counting the normandy american cemetery, i reckon.

Poverty is everywhere.. ive been to New York and they have the worst slum areas too... But in the Philippines, their media romanticize more on poverty... instead of boasting their beauty, they prefer to broadcast to the world about their poverty, hence, tourists think the Philippines is really in miserable state.. But it is not...
