I have been visiting Philippines around 30 times and we own a house in a part of the city where I am usually the only foreigner. The most interesting excursion I have made in Manila was a boat trip to Corregidor island. Outside Manila I recommend Batanes, Coron and the Pinatubo crater lake. I have never been the victim of crime, but once we were infected by salmonella in El Nido and were hospitalized in Manila. Batanes is an archipelago between Luzon and Taiwan where honesty is ideology and the police is unarmed and nobody close any doors. The slogan is DO NOT TAKE CARE OF YOUR VALUABLES and the most famous pace is the Honesty Coffee Shop that is a shop where you pick up what you want to buy and leave the payment. There is nobody in the shop because in Batanes everybody trusts everybody.
Love ur comment im fr. Batanes and d owner of that store is my fathers older sister.. thanks for sharing the hospitalily we have in our province👏❤ proud to be ivatan
Really enjoyed this video Alina and found it very informative. Our Son's girlfriend is originally from the Philippines and she wants to plan a trip for all of us to go there. Your videos will help us because initially we had some reservations about going there. We will probably be going sometime in 2023. Thanks for this video and stay safe and well.
Hi Alina, thanks for stopping by in the Philipines. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy and love my beautiful country. Watching you here in Saskatchewan. Be safe safe and God bless!
Thank you for appreciating Phil. ,yes you are right if you are in Manila be careful of the places you are going and also the people you are dealing with.
Welcome to our country, the Philippines. We have the longest celebration of Christmas, from the first day of Ber months you'll hear Christmas songs being played on the radio and shopping malls decorated with Christmas decors almost everywhere. I hope you experience Christmas in the Philippines.
The school kids yelled "You're so beautiful" and I echo, I affirm and second the motion. You're a breath of fresh air, a visiting angel. New Filipino subscriber here from Vancouver, cheers!
Many years ago, I had a good friend from Manila who showed me many parts of the city. It was at a time when the city was not so built up and modernized. Another stunning video as always Alina You are so informative and so good at what you do. Thank you so much. Sending you much love🙏❤🙏 from Jim and Harriet. Richmond, Va.
From Toronto: I lived there before. The Philippines is one of the friendliest countries in the world. Even Americans agree. Back here, we have 2 Jollibee outlets. I have distant relatives in Calgary. I followed your journey before when you were followed by a man with a gun. That was scary. That could happen anywhere when you're at the wrong place. As a tourist just take all necessary precautions. Take care.
High rate crimes mostly other country for foreign visitor try South America or south African part or other European country or other parts middle East Afghanistan or pakistan
That right, even in my country in the Philippines was not 100 % perfect safe like any countries around the world because that was the reality! There were some parts like in remote areas of Zamboanga, Basilan, and Jolo where there were still some Abu Sayyap terrorist Group that kidnap Foreigners especially tourist. They were Kidnap for Ransom bandit groups. But during the administration of President Duterte declared Martial Law in Mindanao areas after that Marawi City sieged by ISIS inspired terrorist group of Maute and Abu Sayapp. After liberation of Marawi by our security forces, the military and police hunt them down and forcing hundreds of terrorist Abu Sayyap to surrender. Now Kidnapping incident was rarely to happenned but authorities still remind our people and foreigners to take precaution and not to travel on those dangerous areas that was still cleared and pacify by the police & military. May and hoping in the future we were 100% insurgent and terrorist free country.
"That could happen anywhere when you're at the wrong place" I agree when you said that could happen anywhere but "when you're at the wrong place" is not actually a wrong place but actually the people who's mind is evil. I would like to share to you biblical verses about perilous times in the book of 2 Timothy 3-5 "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." We are living in a perilous times now
We were there two weeks ago Venice Mall and the guy who navigates the boat even sings an Italian song incredible. I am back now in Calgary and hope you enjoy much of the Philippines. Cheers.
Your video is very well done and well balanced! I was born in the Philippines but have lived in the US for the past 36 years. I do visit home often to visit family and the city has changed so much! I Makati is really a perfect area to stay in since the traffic there is quite horrendous.
Tagaytay and Baguio is our little version of Vancouver, you can enjoy alot of log Cabins and weather is mild since its up in the mountains. And also we have Tim Hortons there in BGC and and so Canadians can enjoy bits of home.
Alina, try island hoping to Palawan, Bohol, and Boracay. I'm pretty sure you enjoy it. If you stay 3 more months in the Philippines you'll definity hit 500k subscribers
Sarsi is the local equivalent of rootbeer. Christmas season in the country begins when the Ber months come in (September, October…). Welcome to the Philippines!
Finally you made it to Manila. I hope you will enjoy your visit. There are other places in the country where foreigners like you would be able to experience the local culture...old town of Taal (Batangas) and Vegan (Ilocos Sur), beaches in Cebu, the famous Boracay, Coron, and Batanes. There are many bloggers in the country (#becomingFilipino, from Comox, B.C.; #Mergim Vlogs, from U.K.; #Kumander Daot, from Wales; #Daniel Marsh, from Ireland) just to name a few. They will be able to help you in your travel here. I have been following your blogs, from the trans-siberian train, Eastern Europe, Thailand, and South America the last 3 years. I was impressed on the content of your blogs. Coincidentally, I am here in the Philippines. I am a native Filipino, retired, and my home is New Jersey. Safe travel.
Welcome to our beloved Philippines. Like any other countries, Philippines is not perfect but Philippines and Filipinos have a lot to offer. Unfortunately, it's sort of rainy season or even stormy this season but it doesn't mean you can't explore places, our food and people. Jollibee, gotta dip the chicken to it's amazing gravy🍗. Peach Mango Pie is phenomenal. Stay safe and keep healthy 👍🇵🇭🌞. Love Canada, lived for 6 years in Toronto. Watching from San Francisco CA 🇺🇲👌🇨🇦✌️🇵🇭.
Welcome to the Philippines and sorry to hear about your stomach bug or flu. For me your accent gave away where you’re from before you even mentioned that you’re from Calgary. I’m pretty sure you’ve received a lot of recommendations already as far as what food to try and places to visit. If you ever get tired and want to relax, get a massage and I recommend “Hilot” massage. For me, that is better than Swedish or Thai massage. I recommend to go get them at “The Spa”. They have a lot of locations within Metro Manila.
A great video. Just got back from Philippines 3 weeks ago. Stayed in Makati and visited many areas in Manila. Just loved it. Very convenient and foreigner-friendly, but the heat and humidity were a bit unbearable. Hehe. For someone who is from Los Angeles, California, I agreed Jollibee is definitely better than KFC. Will travel to Manila again.
One of the most perfect qualities that Alina Mcleod has is her impeccable ability to have a rational, calm, mature and realistic mindset in life! Just like her, I want to be extremely determined to be FILTHY RICH! However, mental health takes priority! When I see the destruction of Andrew Tate, Sneako, Kanye West and other famous ''UA-camrs'' make it, they WILLFULLY/DELIBERATELY lose the sense of all reality! They become very erratic, unhinged, and unpredictable because of all the fame and wealth they acquired! They burn bridges, and become very toxic/aggressive! This is the quality that I am most in love with about Alina Mcleod! As well I am deeply in love with her diplomacy, tact, firmness and strong negotiation skills! She knows who she is and what she stands for!
If you ever have the time, try visiting las casas Filipinas de Acuzar in bagac, bataan which is pretty close to manila. The place is pretty much a recreation of what the Philippines look like hundreds of years ago. The place is also full of real spanish era Filipino houses that you can check in and stay.
Glad you finally decided to come to the Philippines! I hope you enjoy your adventures here. Allow me to give you some tips: 1. When eating Filipino food served calamansi, you either squeeze the calamansi juice on your food or mix it with soy sauce in a small saucer as a dipping sauce. 2. Toilets in shopping malls and elsewhere are called "comfort rooms" or CR. 3. To avoid constantly buying bottled water, bring a metal bottle/flask with you and refill it with purified water in the dispensers you will find at hotels or food courts in shopping malls. 4. Christmas starts September in the Philippines. 5. When riding the jeepney, check the signboard for the destination. If you're nit sure if your destination is within route, ask the driver. When unloading, always say "Sa tabi lang po!" (Kindly unload on the side of the road). 6. Sarsi is rootbeer, a brand name derived from sarsaparilla. 7. Always wear your bag in front of you inside jeepneys or trains. 8. Filipino spaghetti is sweet, unlike American spaghetti. 9. Always tip your waiter, barber, hairdress, masseuse, or any other worker if the service doesn't have a service charge. 10. When riding the white taxicabs, always ask the driver to use the meter instead of agreeing to a negotiated/fixed price. 11. It's pronounced "Pob-LAH-shon" (Poblacion). It's the usual name of the main barangay (village) in most towns and cities in the Philippines, like Makati.
This helped me a lot too! I want to visit the Philippines. Anytime I search it up I always get negative answers back saying its not safe. Is this propaganda? I really want to visit Manila and possibly even live here too
I'm glad to see you are in the Philippines. I'm a Filipino living in Calgary and I remember the first time I watched your video (interview with your dad) when I was still in the process of moving to Canada. Part of that process is watching youtube videos about Canada and your videos helped me a lot to get an idea of how life is in Canada. I'm happy that you are now exploring my country and will get to know our culture. Have fun and be safe!
Welcome to my country, Alina. I'm living in Toronto. Thank you for appreciating the Philippines. The christmas starts at the "ber" months, so its a long 4 months. I hope you'll also visit Baguio City, The Banaue rice terraces and Sagada. Enjoy your visit and be safe.
The JolliSpaghetti is intended for children, hence the sweet taste of sauce, and the hotdog. The reason why Filipinos overseas loves Jollibee as a whole is that it reminds us of home, our childhood. 😅
I love how you are very respectful of every country, people and culture. You are one of the best travel vlogger for me. Always looking at and fearching for the positive side instead of just being critical and I like your being honest and helpful to your viewers giving them needed information about the places you go and content that you make. God bless you.
Finally, the first vlogger I followed in UA-cam; from Toronto, rural Saskatchewan, Calgary, Ukraine, etc is now in my native country. Welcome to the Philippines!
Perfect timing, lovely! I went to Manila in 2015 and cant remember much of it so this is a good reminisce ☺️ Watching it while eating my dinner alone here in Ganja, West Azerbaijan 🤣
@@AlinaMcleod Hahaha I havent filmed anything 😂😂😂 just still settling in and trying to get the sense of the country. I really like your blush and eyeshadow on this video! I am watching your Curtiba video to take a sneak peak of your make up colection. I hope it doesn't sound like a stalker 🤣
@@SyifaAdriana totally fair, enjoy settling in! And not stalkerish at all! I greatly appreciate the curiosity about the makeup because that's the topic of how my channel technically started haha
Alina, for your information our Christmas season starts in Sept...Anyway, just a piece of advice be aware and be careful if there are strangers inviting you...Keep safe God bless!
Please know if you don't know yet, that the most famous "Filipino" in the Philippines (more so in Mindanao where he resides) is a Canadian....Kyle "Kulas, Becoming Filipino" Jennerman from Vancouver, BC....check him out in YT.
Christmas in the Philippines is even longer than 3 months. It "officially" starts on September 1st (Yeah, they start playing Christmas songs, even on the radio) and ends in the middle of January. Decorations may even go up as early as the middle of August. 😁 The season is also called the "Ber months". The funny thing is there are other holidays that are also celebrated in between.
To see Alina Mcleod visiting my country makes me feel so happy! I will be going home to the Philippines, particularly Manila and Palawan by end of the year as well! :D
Thanks Alina, for the excellent video. I was twice in Manila, and last time only month ago. You are 100% right about everything. I really enjoy your videos!
Laughed out loud when you said, "What in the world!" when you dug into the spag and found a slice of hotdog! Thank you for showing the contrasts between the tourist areas and the rest of the city where the average Filipino lives so tourists will have an idea of both worlds.
Apologies for the rain. But it will gone fast. Im a new subscriber now to support you. Thank you for visiting our country. Stay safe 🥰❤️ We love you Alina
as we have Knowned,Christmas Seasons Starts in the 1st ""Ber"" months of September in Philippines Islands until next year January 31,//it Fells Like a Four Months Yuletide Season./
Hi Alina..there's a lot to explore in Manila..I recommend places like mall of Asia, Eastwood in Quezon City, Greenhills in San Juan , Newport manila, Robinson in Ortigas, SM Mega mall in Ortigas, SM north edsa, IKEA, Ayala mall in Roxas boulevard, China Town, Greenbelt in Makati, Alabang city, Tagaytay and many others..just enjoy and stay safe always.
I admire your courage to travel alone. Though I was born in Manila but I've been in Canada 80% of my life, exactly 42 yrs and a half a resident of Toronto. Last time I was in Manila was in 2020 but managed to fly back home to Toronto (city of Richmond Hill) on the day when lockdown was imposed in Metro Manila. But I got homesick being by myself and away from my immediate family. Home for me is where my immediate family members are, irrespective of geographical location. That said, you'll be busy to explore Metro Manila and Palawan. Went to Coron in 2020 and thought the place was overrated. Met a couple from Sweden and did hang out with this young couple. You'll be better off to see El Nido and Puerto Princesa. I find Coron city proper very dirty and congested with no access to the beaches except when you take the island tours. This feeling I shared with the young couple from Sweden. Boracay and Bohol are both interesting tourist places which I did enjoy in 2009. Enjoy the place and the Filipino's hospitality and stay safe !!!
two major seasons: (1) the rainy season, from June to November; and (2) the dry season, from December to May. Hope this doesnt Dismay😅 you " No Pun Intended"
Thank you for visiting us here in Manila ,i hope you had a great on your vacation ,,, i love watching your videos Alina looking forward to see more of it
I've been in Manila mid December till mid January. I was staying at the Quezon City, just near the SM North EDS, quite a nice neigbourhood and I recommend it for staying. I've been to almost every single part of Manila. I've been to the public places, normal street, small allyes and stuff. I must say in my 3 week of staying not a single bad thing happened to me, NOT A SINGLE BAD thing happened to me. I also remember walking at nights like from 10pm till midnight and after midnight and walking around Manila everywhere and I was a bit scared, but nothing happened, none didn't even tried to rob me, to attack me or something. My vacation in Manila was superb and I can't wait to comeback :)
Yes,PHILIPPINES has the longest Christmas celebration from the BER month which is September and ends on January 6 the 3 Kings. Have fun and stay safe. Watching from Toronto 🇨🇦.
Thank you very much Alina for this beautiful and informative video about Manila which seems to be rather a modern metropolis. Undoubtedely like many other cities and destinations there are some dangerous areas which it would be better to avoid. But on the whole The Philippines look nice and also the people must be very friendly. I appreciated Venice Mall, as it was a wonderful place to visit. Anyway take care.
There is a famous canadian vlogger in the Philippines, his channel is Becoming Filipino who had been living some years now in the south. Another canadian vlogger is Baily her channel is ako si Bail, she speaks fluent tagalog like a native. Thanks for making Philippines known in the world. Welcome!!
@Kulas is his tag name, he had just recognized by the Philippine senate recently for his interesting vlogs going around almost all the provinces of the country and even in Manila, and i think he’ll be awarding a Filipino citizenship. i’m one of his avid subscribers…✌️🇵🇭
25 seconds into the video,..... I alreayd subbed! :) Loved the intro and your overall video editing. ** Nice to know you're Canuck. I'm Pinoy but been living in Ottawa since 2010.
I loved the intro! The Rolling Stone's quote was awesome. I'm a huge RS fan. Manila looks very developed. As an untraveled American I had no idea. Thank you for another amazing video. Cheers!
Hi Alina, thanks for your comments about the city of Manila. You see you must go and feel the city itself not reading some bads things about the city. Crimes does happen in any places around the world. And you know, we are the only country that celebrates the longest christmas season in the world. It starts at the month of September where when we get to the "BER MONTHS" Septem(ber), Octo(ber) and so forth, that is the start of our christmas season that ends til mid January the following year. Great you visited one of the our famous places like BGC and Jollibee. More for you to explore and enjoy!
Welcome to the Philippines Alina! I used to watch your vlog with Johnny FD. I suggest that you visit other places like Palawan, Cebu, Ilocos, Pampanga, Bohol, and Boracay just to name some. I hope that you can collaborate with Becoming Filipino Kulas or Kyle who is also from Canada but is now living in Cateel in Mindanao. He can definitely show you what it's like to live here. Enjoy your stay and be safe!
Hi Alina, thank you for your recent vid. So enjoyed! So from calgary winter has arrived, UG much too early. Glad your feeling better and that your enjoying your visit to Manila, enjoy the food and tropical weather.👋🙏🌴🌴🌴🍁
Christmas starts in September in the Philippines. Jollibee spaghetti was targeted for children, who just LOVE sweets. And, as you may have tasted it, it's sweeter than Coke.
Welcome Alina to the Philippines. I enjoy your first take or impressions of Manila's commercial district. We love making your visit here fun and locals are very foreign friendly. Can't wait to see and what your next content will be on your next episode. God bless and stay safe

An excellent summary and introduction to Manila. My wife is from Quezon City and we have visited many times. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. If / when you get back, I would add the Coconut Palace, Mall of Asia and WWII cemetery (near Makati) to your must-see list.
Awesome video Alina! A few years ago a Jolibee restaurant opened in Regina and was jam-packed with customers. It took me several months just to get in. Good food though!
saw you in the DATING BEYOND BORDERS vid. welcome to the country, miss. unfortunately, you got here storm season. still, stay safe and take care. actualy christmas here starts middle of september.
We also had a Canadian female soloist traveler before you. Her name is Robyn Kimberly. She mainly went to Siargao solo riding on a rented motorscooter. Doing her modeling photo shoots ang videos all by herself in the jungles with tall coconut trees.

yes, also ur supposed to mix the sauce and pasta really well first.
You made it there! Yay! Makati, BGC. Beaches and waterfalls in Cebu, Davao,,
El Nido, Siargao Enjoy!!!❤️
I'm happy you visit Philippines. I always watching your vlog.
Thank you!
I love how you are very respectful of every country, people and culture. You are one of the best travel vlogger for me. Always looking at and fearching for the positive side instead of just being critical and I like your being honest and helpful to your viewers giving them needed information about the places you go and content that you make. God bless you.
Thank you lovely lady for coming to the Philippines 🇵🇭. We welcome all the tourists to experience our culture and experience the food ❤🎉😂
Finally, the first vlogger I followed in UA-cam; from Toronto, rural Saskatchewan, Calgary, Ukraine, etc is now in my native country. Welcome to the Philippines!
Haha thank you!
Perfect timing, lovely! I went to Manila in 2015 and cant remember much of it so this is a good reminisce ☺️ Watching it while eating my dinner alone here in Ganja, West Azerbaijan 🤣
Omg amazing! Can't wait to see your videos from there!
Wow!i'm your subscriber from Philippines, and i want you to go there and maybe see or mèet you there personally
Agree. His name is “Kulas”
Thanks Alina for a comprehensive video of Manila. It makes me want to check it out.👍😊🇮🇪🇨🇦🇵🇭
I hope you do!
The tropical rain really feels nice soft and smooth for your hair.
Laughed out loud when you said, "What in the world!" when you dug into the spag and found a slice of hotdog! Thank you for showing the contrasts between the tourist areas and the rest of the city where the average Filipino lives so tourists will have an idea of both worlds.
Cool nice to see you travel
Apologies for the rain. But it will gone fast. Im a new subscriber now to support you. Thank you for visiting our country. Stay safe 🥰❤️ We love you Alina

Thank you for the suggestions!
Woooohooo yes! Finally!! This is what I've been saying for the longest time. Loved you ever since Marina's DATING BEYOND BORDERS..
Haha thank you
Christmas decorations in malls start in September actually. Christmas songs also start by that time.
Love Philippines from Indonesia 🇮🇩❤️🇵🇭
Nice video I enjoyed watching it a lot, and a beautiful channel worth following, I follow you from Spain
Great video!!!! I never went to the canal but it looks magical 🪄
two major seasons: (1) the rainy season, from June to November; and (2) the dry season, from December to May.
Hope this doesnt Dismay😅 you " No Pun Intended"
Best time to come, everything is going back normal. Three week is fantastic. Cebu, Davao, great!# Love to see you.
Thank you, Gabriella!
Omg there's a Philippine cultural centre on west winds drive in Calgary! LoL

Loved the intro and your overall video editing.

I loved the intro! The Rolling Stone's quote was awesome. I'm a huge RS fan. Manila looks very developed. As an untraveled American I had no idea. Thank you for another amazing video. Cheers!
You should pass by Bahay Tsinoy, Museums are cool here. It's just at the back of Bamboo Bike.
Be sure to visit also Cebu while you are in the Philippines.
Welcome Alina to the Philippines. I enjoy your first take or impressions of Manila's commercial district. We love making your visit here fun and locals are very foreign friendly. Can't wait to see and what your next content will be on your next episode. God bless and stay safe

I still can’t believe the pies in the Philippines are soooo tiny, its like 3 times smaller than what we have in Canada
An excellent summary and introduction to Manila. My wife is from Quezon City and we have visited many times. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. If / when you get back, I would add the Coconut Palace, Mall of Asia and WWII cemetery (near Makati) to your must-see list.
Your right we Filipinos stay decorations of Christmas in the start of the Ber months.
