I went Sydney last week and it's truly a city with beautiful buildings. My faves were the UTS buildings and in general the Ultimo/Central Park area, a theatre called Phoenix Central Park, and of course The icon herself, Sydney Opera House
So nice to hear others fan boy our great buildings and architects. Sounded just like me boring my kids senseless with tours around Sydney as they grew up. Love ya work
Love this little slice of Sydney Tour for those who missed out. Camerawork was stunning and made me fall in love with the little details of each building. It's not the same as being there in person but it's certainly as close as it can get.
There is just so much to like about Sydney. You certainly convinced me to go back just because of the Prince Albert pool upgrade. 🤣 Rule 82 sounds good! Always should have room for Serendipity! That curve on the smart design studio! Green Square Library has been on the list too and the best part was you finished on one of my favourite projects in Sydney - Paddinton Square Gardens. Congrats guys, you've managed to outdo yourself and convince me Sydney (and Canberra) need to be on the list when I come home. Have you been to Ballast Point Park? This is one of my favourite places in Sydney.
As a fan of John Andrews, I have a soft spot for 388 George Street. The Masonic Centre on Goulburn Street is quite unique, and the Sirius Building is wonderful. Are you planning to come back to Canberra to tour more places? The High Court here in Canberra is cooler than the Opera House.
I like the High Court but I cannot agree with your comment about it better than the Opera House, sorry. Yes I am hoping to come back to Canberra at some point next year.
Small House in Surry Hills is another good'n! It's privately owned though, so mightn't be the best for tours. But what's interesting about it is that it was just a small car lot in a back alley.
Walked past Andrew Maynard with a group of followers the other day and I was wondering if it was Archimarathon. Now I know! Glad to see episodes about Sydney. Another place worth checking is the suburb Castlecrag designed by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin - 'I want Castlecrag to be built so that each individual can feel the whole landscape is his. No fences, no boundaries, no red roofs to spoil the Australian landscape: these are some of the features that will distinguish Castlecrag.'

Thanks for the vid. Rose Seidler House in the northern suburbs is a historic gem in Australian architecture....well worth your focus. Another small dwelling which has inspired me is Israel House in Claireville by Stutchbury, its a great expression of Sydney
Yes Rose Seidler House used to be on the tour but it does take up a bit of time in the tour to go there. I have swapped it with Green Square area this year.

Definitely keen for the next Sydney tour! Also City of Sydney Council currently jackhammering outside my bedroom window so the jury's out on that one... There are surely a lot of places in Sydney that are ripe for a tour... would love Kev's thoughts on Arc on Clarence Street by Koichi Takada and the JPW extension to the War Memorial in Hyde Park is another potential for the list!

I'm with Lachlan, I just love the intro videos, too. I admire so much your b roll videos. How do you do them? Are they filmed at that speed on site or do you slow them down while editing?
It says a lot about grey bureaucratic men in suits if Utzon’s Opera house is the best in the world- as it of was of course changed by them half-way through, making significant alterations from his original design. It was the reason he left of course and never to return. 😪
The Sydney Opera House is right on so many levels but it can’t be the best building in world because it has a concrete frame structure and not a shell structure (I speak under correction?) and because the concept is so shell-related I think it’s too big of a missed opportunity to allow it to occupy number 1 😁
