i heard so many room 335, but this duet larry&lee is the highest level than any other, forgetting about skill each other, but play for maximum passion of happiness
Very much so. Both gentlemen sound very polished, but still not jaded with what they're playing. Drummer is into it! So is the very talented guy on keyboards. Bass man has seen it all, and is taking it in stride... just staying in the pocket, driving the groove machine... I love this performance. It's my favorite of L.C.'s...
Support musicians are Rick Jackson- Keys, Melvin Davis-Bass, and Land Richards-Drums. Both Lee and Larry have used Land and Melvin in their own projects. Rick is out of Nashville and has been working with Larry for about 10 years.
Goosebumps every time I listen to this. Great song, greater players. I've seen them in Seattle dating back decades and remember the Jazz Crusaders speaking of this young guitarist Larry Carlton when I saw them at the Paramount Theater. Love you g🎉uys and have always since I got into the jazz fusion era in the 1970's. I'll be 70 later this year if I'm blessed and you and your cohorts have helped me get through the ups and downs of life over the decades and I could never thank you all enough! Live long and keep playing!
Anthony Johnson Very much so. Larry owns it from the first phrase of his solo. Tone, time, touch, taste, articulation and pure melody, pure music. Hard not to be influenced by that!
I've seen Larry and Lee live in Mexico City. Lee in 2007 and Larry in 2009. All the CDs I have from them are autographied by them and I took many pictures with them. Two of the greatest nights of my life in two wonderful unforgettable concerts!
Oh wow, nothings better than seeing musicians jam and smile while they do it. As a musician I know there's nothing greater than that feeling of everyone "clicking" at once. This is just plain awesome.
Lee Ritenour play his chorus in the way Larry did in the album ( a kind of tribute) ; Larry play his one as improvisation, which is truly amazing. I really believe Larry was blessed in some way when he's born ; something special in his fingers and mind ! To me, he is the greatest ever in this style. Thanks to Mr Patrick Gilson who introduced me to Larry's music, as my teacher, long ago.
@@ShikataGaNai100 Obviously, you have the music taste of a garden slug, which often happens to be the case with listeners who primarily focus on bass and drum solos. Instead of being enraptured by this elephant in a glass house, you should listen to the real masters, such as Jaco Pastorius, Gary Willis, Marcus Miller, or any of the young Sicilian bassists accompanying the new guitar world phenom, Matteo Mancuso.
that bass solo was awesomely original and creative. great voicing great tone great dynamics. liked the polyrhythms over the whole note triplet feel at around 5:49 or so cant remember exactly.
This is Fourplay, grammy winning jazz ensemble since 1991. The original members were Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitars), Nathan East (bass), and Harvey Mason (drums). In 1997, Lee Ritenour left the group and Larry Carlton came in until 2010 when Carlton left Fourplay and was replaced by Chuck Loeb.
Although I prefer the sound and playing style of Larry Carlton above the sound and playing style of Lee Ritenour, the guitar solo of Ritenour in this live performance is absolutely and positively marvelous and one of the most musical guitar solos I've ever heard!
Can't believe you guys are judging them because they don't look like they're in pain. Larry and Lee are HUGELY respected guitarists. None better for west coast jazz sound. Larry has played on more hits than almost anybody alive. i went to a concert of his and it was the best I've seen.
Just wonderful spiritual beings having a awesome human experience...two LEGENDS in this journey...thanks for your great inspirations...Peace, Love and Hugs!!!
I stumbled on to this it is a good song. I really like Larry Carlton. Of course everybody loves Rit. Having these guys on stage is great. They work very good together.
Great! Excellent! Two geniuses of guitar music get high from each other and pass this buzz on to everyone
This is like eavesdropping on two old friends telling stories from years ago.
Melvin Davis on bass. Monster solo!! ❤ 👏 👏
Had a bad day? Not after listening to this masterpiece!
i agree with you!
The good thing about a musical audience that claps on 2 and 4
IN EUROPE THEY CLAP ON 1 & 3 = JUST A BUNCH OF "GROS PLOUCS MARXISTES PUANTS" !!!
GOD BLESS JAPAN !!!
@@patricksauvage7604 today audience do not clap, they just record with smartphones :/
If not busy drinking
Must be japan
Hahahaha
Larry's playing has a vocal quality. His improvisation is almost conversational.
Masters of the 335. And Melvin Davis's solo!
i heard so many room 335, but this duet larry&lee is the highest level than any other, forgetting about skill each other, but play for maximum passion of happiness
Lee and Larry are both at the top of their game.

What a great solo played by Lee!

Is it me or are they the happiest band of all time?

I love how all five of them are just having a great time , that's what music should be :)
Larry Carlton. A gentleman in every way.
Very Nice! Both great guitarists but you can see how Larry influenced Lee's playing. Thanks
Anthony Johnson Very much so. Larry owns it from the first phrase of his solo. Tone, time, touch, taste, articulation and pure melody, pure music. Hard not to be influenced by that!
Oh... LOVE this!

Every time I listen to this beautiful piece of work it gets the juices flowing love the way Mr R blends in with Mr C.
Larry & Lee! The perfect pair!!!
Words. Cannot. Describe. The AWESOMENESS!!!!

Never get bored with Larry and Lee and room 335 best version
This is perfection! 💙🎸🙂👏🤝🙏
Phew Lee really slays here. That solo is so crazy lyrical and coherent
Love these two wonderful guitarists, locked in Room 355, a Classic tune.
Next door to room 335
Killer version and the best I have heard:Larry do it live.
the bass solo is awesome man! the audience doesn't lose the groove once...
I disagree, I think some part is great, some part is not because too much technical stuff and less musicality....
Haha I noticed that too! and yeah that bass solo was incredible!
This was a bass solo only a mother would love. Seriously, it totally ruined this fusion classic.
@@deanronson6331 Whatever Chief...enjoy your snobbish delusions.

Land Richards...

Great Bass player... got a lot of grooves and techniques... wow!.
drummer is so on point!!
3:14 - Larry made me smile whether I wanted to or not. I'm still stuck.
I operate mainly in the Rock field, but these are the kind of cats I look up to. Music at its very best! 👍🏻🎸

Larry and Don Felder, the two smoothest guitarists ever.
LARRY is the reason I play guitar , I thank you larry carlton :)
This is the most wholesome looking band in the world.

this is so good
just top notch musicianship
Love it. Always different touch with his explanation and translation for audience and all of us!! Larry Carlton is now live legend.
