It tends to show four crew bailing from the A-20s but the rear gunner was usually just one person covering top and bottom, so you should only see three escape. It seems to be a limitation of IL-2 that all stations that could fire have to be crewed all the time.
Seems like you accounted for nearly all the bombers all by your lonesome. That first attack run, hitting 3 bombers in quick succession, was a thing of beauty. You truly make the FW-190 the "butcher bird".
For a turn fight nut like you, Taff, that was a pretty good stab at the boom-n-zoom tactics you need for the Fw-190! I made that a veritable Ace in a sortie, at least three, maybe four A-20s and a couple of fighters to your tally. It would have been nice to have it confirmed on the mission briefing screen! Hmmm, don't you just love the punch of those 20mm cannons? They really tore up those A-20s! Your starboard wing was a bit pockmarked though; some patching work required from the groundcrew! Yes, a career in the 190 seems like a goer to me!
Such a great episode to watch, fare ripping into those bombers! 😯 would love to see you do a counterweight career to Trofim, with a German pilot as he progresses through the war, that would be brilliant 👌great work as always Taff 👏🏴
That plane is lightly armed for a Fw 190A. Only the two 7.92 mm MG's in the engine cowling and two 20 mm cannons in the wing roots. It looks like a Fw 190A-3/U3. "The Fw 190 A-3/U3 was the first of the Jabo (Jagdbomber), using an ETC-501 centerline bomb rack able to carry up to 500 kg (1,100 lb) of bombs or, with horizontal stabilizing bars, one 300 L (80 US gal) drop tank. The U3 retained the fuselage-mounted 7.92 mm (.312 in) MG 17s and the wing-mounted 20 mm MG 151 cannon, with the outer wing 20 mm MG FF being removed."
Experienced pilots often removed the outer guns, even on interceptors, to improve performance. It makes it roughly the same armament as a Spitfire V with the outer cannon removed as two rifle caliber guns don't add much
It would be very interesting to see the 190 making head on passes at B-17's or B-24's, in formation. Where the pilot would have to be careful of all those .50 caliber MG's that the gunners would be pointing in your direction. Or a Sturmbok attacking from astern. But then you'd really have to keep an eye out for Mustangs or T-Bolts.
To bad you can't take rockets. Nazi fighters aircraft used rocket attacks standard. The americans thought it was AAA and it was actually american bombers being vaporized by nazi rocket aircraft. There would be over 1000 bombers in the air, not just 10. Something i wish the video developers would take into account.
Wow, visibility from that cockpit is atrocious! I feel almost claustrophobic just watching the video, I can't imagine having flown that thing in combat. Agree that this would make a cool career!
The only thing scarier than the FW190...is a Chosen FW190 with weapons and armour upgrades from the Germanic Tribes 🤣 I know for a Career...Baron Von Tafftoffen😁
Thanks a lot for this video, I do not fly but enjoy watching it. Just a (stupid) question.... Is there any WW2 pilot have seen this (kind of) videos and respond on how it compares to reality? Specially about the dogfights. (perhaps they refuse to watch it or respond on it, as they had lost so much)
I don't know what it is with the 190's, they are not OP at all and they are so satisfying to fly. @Taff, if you feel the same, why hesitate flying it more? :)
i love this game , however i stopped playing it for 2 reasons. 1: i didnt have vr at the time + 2: my logitech 3d pro seemed to "sensitive / twitchy " no matter how i had my settings for this game. so i stopped playing it... but i have vr now and have been contemplating getting back behind the stick....
I love seeing the game, have it myself with a lot of dlc's but I don't play it. Got a stick and throttle but it's just a bit too hard for me, I don't know how people spot things and are actually able to dogfight. Sadly to be competent you need something like VR.
On the contrary, I think playing with a monitor and TrackIR is the way to go if you want to maximise effectiveness. VR is quite a bit less effective for spotting and IFF, but depending on your personal preferences, it is the best experience wise. Also, it has a learning curve, that's for sure. I would advise to see if you can join an online squadron or play with some friends who have some experience to pick up tips and tricks faster all while having that additional protection around you. Good luck!
I like the video, just you went a bit overboard when talking about the virtues of the FW190. Meaning I don't think that the pilots would use such flowery wording when taking about their aircraft.
It is curious Soviet Air Force was able to gain any amount of success late in the war because their aircraft just could not compete with German quality. It takes more than western supplied Hurricanes to deal with Me-109s and Fw-190s. Must be that Germany had to transfer most of their aircraft away from the Eastern front.
16:47 Pilot sits calmly while he's surrounded by a massive amount of flames. Makes me think of the "This is Fine." meme.
Balls of Steel.
Then bails out at low altitude casually 🧐
IKR? Freaking AI balls of steel.
Well I thought of listening to the "curb your enthusiasm theme"meme well you said that and it made me laugh a bit
5:42 RIP the gunner who failed to get out in time
is it bad that I felt sad watching the closeups of those dudes in the bombers and fighters dying
@@innocuousmerchant8766 Just means you're not desensitised to the violence/death of it.

Nice fight. How many bombers were you credited for? Please show the tally at the end of the sorties.
The 190 seems to suit you quite well Taff! Could be a good plan for your next GB campaign if you can!
One of the biggest hazards facing WW2 bomber crews was clipping into the fuselage while trying to bail out of the aircraft.
Yet they jump straight back and miss the stabilizer every time.
Bailing out as an A-20 pilot must have been at least moderately stressful
Seems like you accounted for nearly all the bombers all by your lonesome. That first attack run, hitting 3 bombers in quick succession, was a thing of beauty. You truly make the FW-190 the "butcher bird".
Here's hoping for the Fw-190 campaign!
Yes please Taff we want to see a Fw-190 career 😁
I second this, FW190 career would be awesome
Yes, a nice campaign with the 190 would be awesome

Wow, great sortie! You really worked Ivan over!
How much power and punch did you have?
Every time a bomber releases its load prematurely, I can't help imagining that it's shitting itself in fright.
Only 4 tail strikes. Thanks for showing the landing from the outside!
This video made a dull Friday 100% better. super flying Taff
you will find that its much easier to hit those angle shots when you aren't zoomed in so much
Great job,Taff, but the ground crew isn't gonna be very happy! Your plane looks like Swiss cheese!!!! lol

That was a good one. Stay with the 190.

ace in a day... again. You really put it to them today Taff
BEautiful Episode Taff! Thanks :)
One of my favorite WWII German aircraft. Nice job, Taff. You can return from exile now, mate.
Nice shot!
Even as a Spitfire fanboy I think the 190 A class is my favourite to fly.
A 190 Career sounds good.
Fw is my fav plane in this game, such a solid and delightfully tempremental machine. Hope you do a career with it. Thanks for the video :)
Wow you tore the hell out of those bombers. More!
YES Taff PLEASE do another Career 🙏🏻
I'd love to see a fw 190 career! My favorite focke wulf load outs are 4x50kg+1x500kg, 8x50kg, 3x250 and the panzerblitz

And Thats why they nicknamed the Fw190 the "BUTCHER BIRD" for a reason...
excellent , you need to fly more 190 missions
flying in a nice lines for your convenience
That’s what bombers did you maximise their gunner defence, the A20 havoc though is lacking defensively so was easier that bigger better armed bonbers
Bomber with defensive weapons turned off?

Do you write scripts for your storytelling or do you just wing it on the fly? I'm curious. I've always loved the way you do your intros.

Are you a pilot?
A little unnerving to have running UK commentary from a FW190 pilot? ;-)
There wouldn't be 10 A20's their would be 50+
