i just did that job on my S55 2003, and thank u very much because of u i did it,,, is the same thing with the line!! the only different i did was the reservoir eliminated completely and installed the reservoir come with the pump, a lot space there now!!!!!thank men for the video!!!

Replace that reservoir with the one from the sclass. It’ll fit right on top of the ps pump. Oh and since you switched to that power steering pump. You can get rid of all the abc lines. That little radiator in the front ? Just follow it and get rid of it. The rear abc lines are harder to trash because you need to lower the sub frame but that’s a easy job too. You’ll need a lift.

I was thinking about doing that but for now keeping them in is not hurting anything and later on if i end up selling the car and the new owner wants the hydraulics back, he or she will not go through a lot of trouble getting back the system going. just thinking ahead. as for the reservoir, i was going to order the one made for the new pump, but again if i can use the parts already there to keep it a budget build, then i rather go that route. thanks for commenting and glad you're enjoying the vids.

BMAN CARS thinking ahead is always good. Congrats on the car. Don’t ever sale it. I plan to keep mines as long as I can. With just a few mods, you can get that car close to 600hp. Mustangs, camaros, chargers, challengers not a problem. If everything is healthy on your car then you should have no problems with most cars on the street. $300 heat exchanger, $100 newer Bosch inter cooler pump, $300 84 sc pulley, no tune required. Start with that. It’ll make the car more responsive.

@@bmancars3237 The Tandem ABC reservior is better because you have the removable PS filter under the cap that you can instead of the entire reservior with built in filter. It also isolates the fluid from the engine heat.

I made a simple “extension” mount to hold the bottom of the PS hose.
Otherwise it will sag and cause issues.

Good stuff on extending the ps line that runs under the car. I found that solution a few days after I called around a bunch of shops regarding getting quotes on extending the line......

  • @johnpetrus969

Just finished this removal. Two things make it easier.
    1. Before removing the belt take the pulley off of the pump (impossible once belt is off because there is no way to hold it still - for me belt off then back on). Three inverted torx on front. The pulley will not come out of the car at this point, but it will allow you to access the bolts required to remove the pump. When the pump is free pull the pulley out. It is also not necessary to remove the tensioner pulley, just pull the tensioner back as it is intended and the third front bolt can be accessed.
    2. I also removed the rear bracket where it is attached to the engine (easy) for more clearance. Then I removed the gold cylinder from the back of the pump - probable while it was still attached to the car. Now once all the mounting bolts and lines are removed (sorry no help there - just a pain to get to), one can manuver the pulley out then take out the much smaller tandem pump without much difficulty. Thank to BMAN for this post.

Buy that steering pump with a reservoir on it, as it is on the S430. I was able to remove the original giant CL reservoir by simply extending the return hose to reach the new reservoir.

Damn I must applaud you for the video. No details skipped, it really does help DIYers like me who need a step by step guide to not get lost half way into the job. Most edit out little parts of these jobs and you kind of get road blocked when you don’t expect it since it’s never shown on their videos.
Only question I have is how’s the pump from Hong Kong working out? I was expecting you were going to order a factory or OE from Germany since many don’t trust Chinese quality when it comes to certain car parts. Also, I have the 02 CL55 would I need a pump from 00-02 E500/320 or would yours work the same? Dope background music too by the way, relaxing because these jobs can be stressful.

Remvoe F46 and F9 fuses. Then you will get only a white ABC display error at engine start, lick R to remove. Every time you turn on the engine.
