The place Archie stay, Mira is the best place to buy used Rolex.
The Peninsula is very upscale, you may find rare exclusive watches opposite Peninsula
Central or other parts of HK not worth looking, hotel food are expensive...don’t waste time.
I normally stays 3 station away from Tsim Sha Tsui, around Mongkok, hotel half the price of Mira, one tenth of Peninsula.
Then I visit Peninsula just to have look, get some lunch, then shop around the store near Mira.
I prefers Tokyo or Osaka than HK for used Rolex or Patek,
If you wanna buy brand new, Macau offers better deal, more stock.
Sydney or Melbourne dealers are honest compared to HK, but stock is very limited.
One store in Tsim Sha Tsui can have 100 sport Rolexes to choose, where the whole Sydney and Melbourne combined store may have only 30 sport Rolexes at any time. Tokyo dealers stock maybe less than HK, but they don’t rip you off; they are happy to earn 30% margin, where as HK, they want to have as much as they can, 100% or more.
Many Hongkong Tsinshatsui dealers source their Rolex from Shinjuku. I predict 30% of Hongkong used Rolex were originally from Japan.
Tokyo Ginza Shinjuku and parts of Osaka shopping districts shinsaibashi, have more smaller size second hand dealers than HK, if you add up in total Rolex availability in Osaka and Tokyo there are hundreds, in total it may be equal to Hong Kong.

I was in Hong Kong in the early 90’s - loved it. But, I tried to buy a camera lens from TST and Nathan Road. 6 stores tried to sell me the same lens with the same scratch on it 😱

Well I went to a gathering on Sat. 15 people give or take. 4 submariner dates and 1 GMTMII Root Beer (worn by a girl). That’s what the Hongkongnese wear. Follow the heard. I’d make the case that you should be able to get a good deal if you are not looking for Rolexes.
