    It's time! That's right, I have finally made a video on the state of the collection 2022!
    As a very new watch enthusiast, slowly becoming collector I have put this video off for quite some time, basically because I was unsure anyone would be too interested. However I've been asked a number of times for one, so here it is as at 12 December 2022.
    Thanks as always for watching, Jess x

    I would say adding a German watch would be cool, a GO would be cool even a Nomos. Or just another PAM maybe a radiomir would be sick. You could leave your collection as it is and its insane good but it is always fun to add. I have decided to just go only hand crankers selling my last auto. cheers

    Hi, first time watcher and just subscribed. You have a great collection and we have some similar tastes. I'm from West Sydney and started collecting around 3 years ago so a newbie as well. Went straight down the rabbit hole and over 200 watches later decided to sit back and take stock. Recent purchases this years have included a Speedy, Airking (previous model), Superocean Heritage 42, BB Heritage (Smiley red bezel), Rado Capt. Cook, PRX, Casioak x2, GP dress and a Seagull chrono. Good luck with your journey. PS My grail is the no date sub as well!

    This is the first video I’ve seen on this channel. But first of all; just be proud of what you have and don’t worry about whether your collection is “good enough”. You’ve got some cool watches there that all would be awesome “one-watch collections”!
    Keep up the good work. I’ll be watching a lot more.

    I have a 6.25” wrist so I am always conscious of watches that are too large so I think it’s awesome that you are brave enough to wear large watches. I love Omega, saving for one as we speak. I am more into micro brands these days with Zelos and Cristopher Ward being my version of my holly grails. Keep the vids coming!

    Hey -there. Don't be embarrassed about YOUR collection. It's whatever watch makes you feel good, as it only really needs to make sense to you: regardless of what marketing & watch "experts" tell you.
    The Mantra I live & buy by is:
    "Buy the watch you like the look of - regardless of the name on the dial. After all, you're the one looking at the dial between 60-70 times a day."
    Every watch has a story & for the watches which I no longer have, i can tell you exactly a period in my life when they had meaning (and fondness) but also why I no longer own them.
    Nothing wrong per-Se, but your tastes change...
    My current pieces are: SWATCH ( multiple - love these things), SEIKO, NOMOS GLASHÜTE (German made at its finest & super affordable), PANERAI, BLANCPAIN.
    Gone but never forgotten: TAG HEUERs (Multiple & my first Swiss), BREITLINGs, OMEGA, ROLEX (Multiple), PANERAI, GRAND SEIKO (Japan at its pinnacle in precision), STEINHART, ORIS (alarm - would still own it except way too small).
    On my radar: G-SHOCK, SWATCH, JLC REVERSO.....at the moment 😄
    This hobby has no end - fun for us, but not our bank accounts.
    Be well & Merry Xmas to you & all those dear to you.

    • @AussieWristWatch
      @AussieWristWatch  Рік тому +1

      The options are endless and yes you are so right... I live by the mantra of buy what I like. I can't buy them for "investment" like some and even if it's the worst "financial investment", if I like it, I would still buy it. I love the Casioaks, so might need to grab one of those and I agree JLC (anything) but Ultrathin and Reverso are way up the list!

  • @SunRise-ul7ko

    I'm a chronograph collector. I started off with a 1973 SEIKO UFO automatic cronograph-day-date. I inherited from my father & has incredible functionality. The watch is almost 50 years old, has never been serviced & still keeps good time. Then I wanted an omega moon watch. I discovered, that watch was hand wound & not very waterproof. Not as good as my SEIKO. I looked at the Rolex daytona & though they were inferior to my seiko again. The Rolex didn't even have a day date, with the cronograph. I ended up having to buy a Grand Seiko Cronograpgh spring drive. It was the only cronograph, that has even more functionality, than my original Seiko. No way do I want a Rolex anymore, I'm no paying that much for an inferior watch.

    You've got a nice collection there. I've been taking an interest in Panerai myself lately. I think I'd go for a manually wound piece w/ display caseback & 8 days power reserve.
    Have you taken a look at Mühle-Glashütte? I've got a hunch they might have something for you as well.
    Anyhow, I'm a new subscriber. Happy New Year! 🥂🎉

    Expensive recommendation would easily be a 43.5mm Omega planet Ocean.
    Unless you could get a 45mm’ish Ultradeep 😈
    Rolex Deepsea is Rrrrrrrealy nice, but we won’t go there due to availability issues.
    Cheaper end of the Scale would be an Invicta Grand Diver Batman. It has a Seiko Movement and satisfies that big watch OTT desire like no other per $

    Thanks for sharing. You should rightfully be proud of your collection. Many collectors that I know have been into watches for years and don't have half as decent collection as yours. Good thing you didn't get into vintage watches. That's how I started before realising it was a minefield and a money pit. My very first Swiss watch was also a TAG which I bought on sale in Melbourne, but not as nice as yours. It was a diver in two tone and I thought I was the bees knees wearing it around flashing it like a peacock. Now I think back in those days when bumbags were in and Hanson's MMMbop was top of the music charts, how embarrassing!!! I also just recently bought the Moonswatch Uranus as a mockery to my rebellion against buying a real Speedy, which I'd already bought and sold twice. I initially hated the MoonSwatch but now with the colourful and battery operated option, I can have a serious thongs and t shirt watch. I also have that Casio FW91. Bought it after seeing Osama Bin Laden wear one. They are apparently used by the Taliban to make bomb timers.

    • @AussieWristWatch
      @AussieWristWatch  Рік тому

      Moonswatch as a thongs and t-shirt watch, that's perfect! Oh dear, no idea about the FW91, but I guess it makes sense. Affordable and reliable. Let's not talk about these matters anymore.

    Love the collection. As I've said before, the Glashutte SeaQ Panorama Date would be a great addition. The blue dial is stunning. I have the 39.5mm but I have a smaller wrist. Hopefully you'll get that Sub soon. How about a Casioak for something cheap?

    Very nice and diverse watches. Since you mentioned you like bigger watches, what are your thoughts on watches like the Breitling Aerospace (various years) and Bremont models? I feel they look distinctive enough and their pre-owned prices are usually very reasonable. On the lower priced end of the spectrum, the various Seiko Turtle models are another unique-looking and rugged option. I'll add in a shoutout for the Speedmaster models, since I love my 3572.50 hesalite-sandwich for its strap versatility, wrist presence, and history.

    Nice video - like the relaxed conversational style. But I assume you are being ironic calling the collection ‘humble’? You have Tags, Panerai’s, an Omega - might be $20k of watches there - pretty luxury.

    • @AussieWristWatch
      @AussieWristWatch  Рік тому

      Thank you! I wasn't really being ironic, but I take the point. I feel like most who are "watch experts" on UA-cam seem to have Rolexes and other crazy brands, so I was nervous about sharing and being judged! But yes your point is valid, I am fortunate for sure.

    Good video! But there is no "good enough" about a watch collection. It's yours and it's your stories attached to them. I hesitate to recommend as somehow you and the next watch need to find each other. But as mentioned earlier in the comments, something German has its own sensibility and my Grand Seiko is a joy: wonderful boutique they have in Sydney too. The favourite is always the one you think oh, this one today. And that can be a modest Hamilton or my Moonwatch which is honestly like a second skin.

Interesting that you like large watches, I’ve started to appreciate the smaller compact watches more now but I think you have just rekindled my desire for the Seamaster. That black looks absolutely gorgeous but I’m not sure if my skinny ass wrist will pull that off (6.5”).
