Mike Mitchell (35pts/11rebs) vs. Lakers (1983 Playoffs)

  • The second highest scoring effort by Mike Mitchell in his NBA playoffs career. You know, what we don't see anymore? Or rather see rarely. Somebody putting the ball on the floor and insisting on stopping at the mid-range to pull up for a jumper, no matter what or who is in his way. And how about a small forward just saying, screw it, I'll post up a 7-2 center (KAJ possibly is even taller) and score on him? The other great 1980s perimeter scorer of the San Antonio Spurs. May 15, 1983.

One of the most underrated scorers ever. Had a great career with borderline HoF numbers.

I grew up in Lex ky , & all these guys would come thru to play against The University of Ky ... l remember Mike Mitchell for Auburn , he was ALWAYS a stalwart player ... lt seemed like , no matter what team he played for , they ALWAYS Under-rated him , but he would always have 20pts , 7/8 rebounds & would always seem to get clutch , crucial , timely baskets ... l tried to follow & keep up with his career , but as you get older life pulls you in a different direction ... l really liked the way he consistently showed up ... l was truly 'Shocked' to find out he had died in 2011 ... Was sorry to hear that ! ... Thanks For the Post My Man , & temporary 'Flashback' to the Good ol' days for a little boy ... 👊

One of the NBA's 20 best players during its golden era in the eighties....and he's relatively unknown.
Like Rolando Blackman. Give him an open look, it's going in.

Blackman is not so unknown. On the contrary Mitchell is totally forgotten. I posted a couple of articles for him on Facebook. Great player

Thanks for posting these, MM was one of my favorite players, a joy to watch. He wasn't acrobatic, he was just rock-steady and impressive as a player. Remember wanting to watch the All Star game so much and pulling for him cuz he was in it, and in his team's arena, he did not disappoint!
    RIP Mike Mitchell

Do you have any new and exciting Dr. J highlights from his ABA days? You're literally the only guy who uploads his highlights from that league.

Would you upload A-Train and Kareem highlights from that game? I'd love to see another great battle between these two giants.

Sorry, mate. My feel-o-meter said that there wasn't anything all that intriguing about their match-up/there's plenty of footage on both of them that I rather spend my time on some of the other guys. I get why would you be interested in such a video, but there are times when I just have to decide what do I have time for.

***** Shame, but I understand that. Is there any possibilility to send me this whole game? I'm going to make big A-Train highlights reel in the future and I collect as much footage as possible. I've never seen this game before. I thought only game 6 is available..
