You didn't have to comb out your locs. You could gently pull the bunching out and palm roll the loc. And when twists start to unravel just retwist and braid the ends.
I am so glad to see aomeone else who does what works for them. I have sisterlocks (about 7 weeks old) and on some one of the shorter ones they mat and bunch from the shed hair just getting caught. If I can't smooth it out by twisting and pinching the bunch, I use a safety pin to gentle separate the matted hair and undo the lock, two strand twist it and let my loctician know that I need some locs restarted. No big deal. The time to fix issues is in the beginning versus just "trusting the process" as your locs continue to mature in a way that you don't like. I trust the process to work, but I trust my gut to have the journey I want. Thanks for sharing.
Woot woot!!! 😍🥳 omg, three weeks in!!!! Super excited for you love 💗 keep me posted on your journey, I love getting updates from those of us who just started our locs 🙌🏾💕
Hi I just wanted to make sure I left you some love and light. This video was right on time I had soo much bunching and very little budding. I literally just combed out all of those locs and retwisted. I was really feeling bad about out that decision because I just started over on so many of my locs. Now I don’t care it still looks amazing and I am 4 weeks in as of Dec 6th. Thank you ✌🏾🥰✨
Awww thank you so much for sending some love my way!!! 😊💖 it really means more than you know!!! I’m so happy you found this video helpful. I absolutely love your courage to start over! I’m so happy it worked out for you. Wishing you the happiest journey in the world. Congratulations on your first month!!! Sending you lots of love 💖💖💖
The quality of your videos is so on point. It’s jaw-dropping. We can see that you put some work to get this result! Congrats Ps: I’m 1 week locked today yay
Awww, I appreciate you saying that!!! You just put the biggest smile on my face 😊😍 thanks so much! And yaaaaay, congratulations on your first week loc’d!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳💕💕💕💕 one week is such a big deal!!!! Did you start with two strand twists?
Alexis Harris you’re so welcome💗💗💗 thanks!! yes I started with 2 strand twists and I have 4c hair. That is why I can definitely relate to your journey ! I’ll keep on watching your videos, I love it you’re full of light haha
I am a month and a half in but I experienced the same thing at 4 weeks old. After they unravelled, I palm rolled them but they would get really loose as soon as I would wet my hair. I decided to retwist them at the weekend. I already knew my back would take longer as the texture is way finer than the middle and the front. Great video! I didn't know the word existed and never heard of it in any of the videos I watched so good work!
Hello beautiful!!! The unraveling struggle was a real issue for me too! Like you, I tried to palm roll but they still unraveled. So happy you found this video useful. Thanks for sharing your experience with me and our community 💗💗💗
Leaving some light and love. Thanks for the video. The message I got from this is that I can do whatever I want to do to my locs, even if means combing them out. I did just that and re-twister all of them a couple of days ago 😂. I enjoy your positivity 🙏🏾
Hey Marna!!! Thanks for leaving some love and light 😍😊🙏🏾💕 your comments make my day!!! And yup, you’re exactly right!!! You gotta do what you can to make sure your locs come out the way you want 🙌🏾 can’t rely on anyone else to care for them... it’s up to us! I was terrified of combing them out at first but I feel sooooo much better now 😂😍
Awww, thanks so much!!! So happy you’re here. Kudos to your daughter 😊💖🥳 I am so impressed!!!! Wishing you the happiest loc journey. How many locs do you have?
I had a few that kept bunching, took them out and instead of doing a 2 strand twist, I did braids instead fir a steadier hold...so far that method is working well...2 weeks away from being 6 months loc'd!
Just found your channel💕 so glad I did. Im a hairstylist and specialize in textured hair. I want to learn more about locs and want to start offering this as a service. You are dropping gems 💎
Hey lovely 😍😊 Ahhhh!!!! You’re right 😩🤦🏾♀️ Lol I’ll figure out a way to show y’all what bunching looks like. I was so focused on describing bunching that I only captured shots of the combed out and retwisted loc smh lol sorry beautiful!
I had one get combed out at a retwist...when I figured it out....it felt like I had lost a best friend!! 🥺🥺 I’m almost 5 months in and LOVING the process!! Thxs for the vid!! Definitely subscribing
Hello beautiful!!! Yessss lol it’s definitely like losing a best friend! But once that loc starts over, it will come back better than ever! More fab than ever!!! 😍😍😍🥳🥳🥳💗💗💗 thanks for subbing. Means so much!
Hey love! Great question lol I’m sure it will 😂🙌🏾 but I wasn’t willing to risk it... (or maybe I wasn’t patient enough) Lol! The locs that were bunching wouldn’t lay flat for me like the rest of them (they had minds of their own). For some people, it’s not a worry... for me, I wanted some uniformity and consistency 😍😊🙏🏾
Corene Gardner another youtuber has a video on bunching vs budding i would check her video out and try her method of what to do with bunching in hopes that it may be helpful
Started with 2 strand twist 7/2/20. I have fine curly hair so too much water makes my hair unravel very quickly. I have had to retwist twice already, I learned pretty quickly to leave my hair alone. I do spray water and use JBCO for my edges. Any more maintenance required at this point? Any advice greatly appreciated Thanks for the vids. Love and light to all ✌🏿
Hey beautiful!! Thanks for leaving some love 💗 congratulations on your new journey! My mom has fine curly hair too and you’re absolutely right... too much water can make hair unravel, so it’s a delicate balance! I think you’re on the right track because less is more. Retwist loose locs and keep doing a light water mist each day or as needed. You got this 😊💕🥳👏🏾
I am now 8 months in and I have quite a bit of locs that have bunching is it ok or do I need to do something it is hard to pull some of them others I did
Hey Cynthia 😊💕 Love that approach!!! My retwist wouldn’t stay (it just kept unraveling lol). So I had to comb it out... most of it was already unraveled anyway though 💗
I'm 1 month in. I have a question, if anyone can help. A few of my twists have unraveled or are kind of unraveling/pulling apart in the middle of the twist. When this happens do you redo the twist? or just leave it alone? Ive been redoing the twists that unravel but i feel like this may be counter productive...
Hey beautiful! I have a whole video on this 😍 great question!!! I also say retwist any loose locs or anything that unravel! But it’s completely up to you 💕💕💕 congratulations on your new journey!!!
I leave them. They eventually start bunching and budding. Which are both part of the locing process. The idea is to leave your hair alone. If it’s not completely unraveled, then it’s fine.
Hi!!! I am a newbie, just subscribed and I will be starting my journey on Tuesday 8/18/20 I am terrified but excited. I will be starting out with the 2 strand twist method as well and I am crazy excited that I found your channel because you are a few months ahead of me so I will be definitely following you closely. I am @myheadofhair on Instagram (not a plug at all) just wanted to show my journey as well on there because I just use Ayurvedic herbs right now but transitioning to locs will be VERRRRY interesting, scared but excited lol.
Hello beautiful!!! So excited for your new journey 😍😊🥳 thanks for following mine!!! You’re in for one exciting ride and joining a really supportive community of beautiful loc’d souls 🙏🏾💗 looking forward to seeing and hearing your experiences!!!

I’m six months in and I combed out five that were locked in the back and reallyyyyyyyy flat. I kind of regret starting those ones over now lol
Hey beautiful! Lol! Awww, it’s all good! They were already loc’d??? Were they unraveling or bunching or did you just not like the way they looked? lol
