Thank you soooo much for your thorough and clear explanation with examples. Started my locs with interlocked roots and two strand twisted relaxed ends 5 weeks ago. I have, what I now know to be bunching from watching your video, forming on some of twists and will correct them. Thank you very much. There aren't a lot of knowledgeable people on here talking about different textures and locs. I appreciate you.
Hands down one of the best loctitians I’ve ever seen. This is exactly what is happening to my hair and why I cut my locs before. They bunched up so bad that they came out very thick and lumpy. So happy I found this early in my new journey!
Wow!! Thank you soo much. A friend started mine for me (using 2 strand twist) which looked great but as I am progressing i noticed in the back they are locking but shorter than the rest of my hair (was mid back length) but as they locked those got really short and now i know its because I have that loose curl pattern. Not bothered much, they of course will be shorter than the rest but trying to enjoy the process - so thank you. I will catch and pay closer attention to them now. The locks at the nap of my neck are set... AND locked. That kitchen cooked quick 😬😳😂.
This helped me so much because I was getting scared because I have a lot of bunching. Now I don’t mind it but I was concerned that it would be a problem and I didn’t want it to cause any damage.
I just combed out at the ends of at least 15 locs in the front of my hair that were doing this. I didnt know what it was called and couldn't figure out the reason. I knew it was because of texture because it was only happening in the front and my back was locking fine. My daughter has not experienced this at all and her hair texture is different so I was going crazy. You saved my life. I was about to cut off the ends because i was so over it😭. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this I started in Nov and this shrinkage from the bunching is killing me. Glad to finally have a name for what is going on with my locs.
I wish I hadve seen this before I redid my daughters hair tonight. She has severe bunching. I hope I can reverse a little because she hates it and I don't want to take it down. Thank you for this, I've been searching about this and was told it was budding.
I’m two months into this loc journey (3 rd try). I had real bad bunching on the 1st set and took them out. The 2nd had bunching but no to bad an I actually liked then, I just missed my curls an took them out. This timeI ’m really working to keep this set from bunching to much but because of my texture I’ve already accepted that I’m always going to have some lumps an I’m fine with that. Thank you for a the video.
My hair was bunching and my location didn’t bring it to my attention. However I take full responsibility because it my hair and I had left it up to her to take care of it. I should have done my own homework. Now I go through them before every retie and run between my thumb and finger along the full length of the hair.
Thank you for this video!!!! I've had severe bunching and my curls pattern is similar to the person that had red hair. I'm going to work on loosening them up now that I see this solution. My loctitian said it was natural but it looks ragged to me and I'd prefer a cleaner look.
im so glad I was able to help you. The reason why I did the video is because a lot of people think that this is part of the process but not every texture of locs experiences this. I hope you are able to catch the bunching early on before they fully Loc. Thank you for watching.
@Vicky Shelton how do you get the bunching out on loose wavy hair. My hair does this when I wash it. It’s still locking up for like 5 months now. It’s so hard to stop my hair from bunching. I even fixed them and after I washed they came back again 😡😡😡
After the shampoo and steam treatment the hair should be soft enough to stretch if you pull out the bunched area. At 5 months it should be able to be repaired before it Locs up into a bunched ball.
Oh my i have alot of bunching in my locs from the first retwist she didn't catch them crying and i have a loose texter thank you for this video im two months tomorrow
Her hair looks exactly how mine look! I find what its called!! This is what i am experiencing omg thank you! I made an appointment with a loctician because of this issue
They are called Hair Sprinkles. It’s a service that I provide. It’s semi permanent/permanent hair adornment done by certified Hair Sprinkles consultants. Your locs should be mature for them to be worn permanently.
I was definitely misinformed about bunching. I have a loose curl pattern and started my locs with long hair so I experienced lots of bunching. I was told it’d go away on its own. My bunching started about 3-4 months ago, is it too late now to catch it?
I am 10 months in and managed to comb mine out with water and conditioner. It was very tedious but it worked. It was driving me crazy and I thought it was just me going through this. It took me ages to stumble across this vid and learn what it is called and how to fix it.
@@kristinjohnson5162 My daughter's hair is a different texture and she had no bunching at all. Barely takes care of her locs and they are perfect🙄🤣. I'm a little salty about it lol. I have bunching over my entire head and even with stretching it's still mostly there. Very annoying.
My bunching is horrible!!! But Idc anymore… I’m over stressin over it… everybody loves my hair tho… they like that look! I’m like clearly this ish inspired butterfly locs! Edit: I wrote this before somebody in the video mentioned butterfly locs!🤣
That’s why I love Locs. They look good in all forms. Some people like the more free, natural look of Locs and some people want the “neater” look. I love them all. And yes, definitely where butterfly Locs came from 😄
If my locs are all bunched at 1 1/2 years in, is it too late to repair them? Or should I just cut them off? I started with long hair, got instant locs, but wasn’t ready for this bunching up. And mine bunched badly, immediately. Was too embarrassed to get help. Oh and the stylist who started them quit doing hair, so I’ve been on my own doing them. It’s going okay, but I know I need professional help.
Thanks for your question. It really depends on the maturity of your Locs. Even though your are more than a year in, it’s still possible to be able to repair. Find a Loctician who you can have a consultation with to find out.
Yes sis....when i looked at my 3mth old baby locs....started on long mixed textured hair....it seem like a strand or two inside the loc has more tension and drags the other hairs upward...creating a bunch....lordt....tedious work to undo...
Where are you located? I having bunching in my locs..I'm only 7months in but would like to get mine corrected. Or could you show tell me how to do that? I'm in SC
Hi I just started my loc journey a month ago on loose 3c hair and I believe I have some bunching going on I have somewhat fine hair so will bunching make my locs appear thicker
Hi! It will make your locs have an inconsistent shape which, I guess, would make them appear thicker. But if you are only 1 month in your locs haven’t started budding yet. Budding makes them thicken up.
Will the bunching ever turn into budding? I have curly hair also and half is relaxed. I installed twist n rip locs that I started a year ago. I always twist to the ends but still have bunching all over.
Yes, the budding means your hair is matting and Locing. When bunching Locs in that state it may look bumpy. It happens more with loose curly/straight hair.
I started my locs journey on September 17 2021 I know the way I shampooed my hair caused my bunching ,is there any technical I can do to repair my lumpy locs ?
Hi. Thanks for the question. You locs will not be ruined. They will just loc with lumps causing inconsistency in the Locs pattern. This video is for those who want to fix it because they want a more “neater” look for their locs. It’s not an issue for everyone.
Damn, my whole head is bunching. Idk what to do 😩 Should I attempt to go through my whole head and unbunch them or just let it rock at this point? I’m 2 months in and I have 3C hair Edit: I did it. It wasn’t that hard to get out 😂😂 left a few to add character
I'm sorry but I thought bunching, shrinking & budding was all part of the locking stages. Wouldn't it be best to trust the process and let the hair do its thing?!
Shrinkage and budding is definitely part of the Locing process. Bunching doesn’t happen to everyone and it’s up to the person to keep it bunched as it Locs or not.
Thanks for stating the obvious. As long as everyone got the point of what I was saying. I was working on a real person and we are still wearing mask. Vaccines or not. So 🤷🏽♀️🤣
The best EXPLANATION /VISUAL I’ve seen thus far. I love my bunching and LOVE the depth it’s given bcuz my hair isn’t all one length now ❤

I just restarted mine and went smaller. Thanks for the knowledge on bunching. I personally like the butterfly look to it

I have coarse hair and mine in the back locked faster also. The two in the middle are super short lol
Same here. Went from bras strap length to chin. But I was disappointed bc I didn’t know any better didn’t understand why it was happening. Now I do
Thank you so much for the detailed verbal and visual explanation.
That’s why the back of hair shrunk ☹️ this was very informative thanks

I hope so too!

Same. I want to get it fixed ASAP because I don’t like it.
What do you do if it's too late to correct the bunching?
Honestly, watching this kind of makes me upset that the ladies who did my hair didn’t catch it and twist to the ends. I would’ve paid extra.
It’s something that I didn’t really catch until I started doing more clients with loose curly locs. It makes a big difference knowing though.
Can you still do the palm rolling on interlocked locs? For the bunching?
Yes

I started my locs journey on September 17 2021 I know the way I shampooed my hair caused my bunching ,is there any technical I can do to repair my lumpy locs ?
Hey! You can stretch them out while your hair is damp. Also, you can shape them by rolling back and forth with your palms using tension.
I have a lot of bunching. Passed the point of repair
That’s ok. I’m sure they are still beautiful.
Will the locs be ruined if the bunching is just left alone?
Hi. Thanks for the question. You locs will not be ruined. They will just loc with lumps causing inconsistency in the Locs pattern. This video is for those who want to fix it because they want a more “neater” look for their locs. It’s not an issue for everyone.
So what do you do if the bunching can’t be fixed
Just let it be. It’s no biggie. This is just to show how you can stop it from happening.
More videos !!!
I will sissy!!!
So it’s more of a texture issue?
It’s texture, styling, and inconsistency in maintenance that contributes to bunching.
Damn, my whole head is bunching. Idk what to do 😩 Should I attempt to go through my whole head and unbunch them or just let it rock at this point? I’m 2 months in and I have 3C hair
Edit: I did it. It wasn’t that hard to get out 😂😂 left a few to add character
If you are only 2 months in your hair should be soft enough to stretch the bunching out.
