Its typical that day finisher groups have everyone be a master at everything regardless of experience. Rodding, raking, cutting joints, brooming, stamping, setting up, etc. Because since finishers at times work for several different conctractors they gotta send in whoever they got. Yeah for the first few pours the laborer will do a bad job but they learn because 98% of what they do is pour & finish only. Everyday.
Alot of the residential guys that work for a company have lead guys do the brooming cause it aint worth it to loose time on concrete trying to learn to certain aspects. If you want to get real good real fast is work with concrete a bit, become a day finisher. They finish nearly every single day so yeah you will get good compared to a company that might have 4-15ish pours a month.
Ive been in this business for a long time since i was a kid. Ive met day finishers on their first day that within a year, 1 1/2 years they are running a part of that same finishing crew. Like they learn so much compared

In the time-lapse it was hard to tell, but it appears that no wire was pulled. You're the boss, remind them to pull the wire up. And in the future, show the wire being pulled in your videos...
