It wouldn't be such a problem if people in general could be relied upon to turn up when they said. The unreliability of people has just gotten worse and worse over the past 20 years. People miss out on great bargains because so many are lazy and simply don't care about respecting other people's time. It's really not hard to say, "I'll be there at 11:00" and then either be there at 11:00 or call to cancel -- well ahead of time.

I used to be involved with the company that sold those polymizer machines built on a walker mower frame. They were used to inject fertilizer/polymer mix to keep lawns green in desert areas. Cool find! That drum has some cool technology to inject the polymer as the spike comes out of the hole.

    • @coryturner9140
      @coryturner9140 Рік тому +2

@@jblob5764 it was a dry granular polymer that they suspended in a chemical that allowed it to turn to gel but not fully swell. @@maxwell431 I’m not sure if anyone is producing the polymer/fertilizer mix. It was proprietary and nobody else could figure out how to make it. the owners split up and shut it down. If there’s no product, it’s worthless unless you want it to aerate and inject just fertilizer maybe? That was circa 2001 when they were building those machines so they are rather old. They changed the design a few years into it and built their own chassis with tracks. So that machine is at least 20 years old

The biggest issue with the boom lift is that the wheels are ruined. Those cost a fair bit. That might be a dealbreaker for resale. So unless you have some salvaged ones you probably won't be able to sell it for a decent price, even if the motor starts.
The Reverse Osmosis water treatment unit, sell or keep for the next time you set off to save a community?
You guys do hero work so regularly that you might want to keep some stuff to be even more prepared.

I miss that thing, I wasn’t even an HE Operator I was a 0481 Landing Support Specialist (Red Patcher) that happened to be able to get my license for it and since we had no one besides us red patchers that had the license to run it on the FOB I spent 240+ hours with 0 incidents running that on uneven river rock LZ loading and unloading different aircraft from civilian to multinational military services. that was a 7 month gig that time around for my second trip. I also used it to go prep external cargo lifts for hook up to the first unmanned helo to run external cargo loads called the KAMAN KMAX KRUAS if I remember correctly and other external lifts that sadly got cancelled with our USMC helos. This brought back some great yet some crappy memories and a wish to play around with that little thing again.

At least 50% of the time, people don't show up when they say they will and when they do, they want to try to haggle down the price until it just becomes completely not worth the effort. I just scrapped nearly 100 fluorescent lights because the processed scrap value is $3.70 each and the best price I could get selling them is $6.00. The muck around to get that extra $2.30 a light is just not worth the time and trouble.

My elderly widow on the opposite corner of my house kept have in a car drive across the corner of her beautiful front lawn. I made a pair of tank traps out of some 3/16 steel angel cut at 45° angel 18" and all welded solid in the middle. Her lawn was driven across again a couple weeks later. I picked up chunks of block and transmission, those two traps had stuck and rolled 40' across the lawn tearing apart that trespassing car. Had to dig out areas of fluid damage from lawn filled all in from patches of lawn transfers from her back yard that I then re-seeded. Lol

I think that little bitty Vibratory roller is something that is really handy for putting in driveways.
I'm pretty sure the guys that built our driveway used something about like that.
    11:13 - "what goes around, comes around." . . . I love it.
so this guy that accumulated all this stuff. . . did he have a construction company? Surely he was in flexible pavement surfaces.
you heard what happened to the highway contractor that had a conflict with the Teamsters union right? He is in asphalt pavement.
13:00 - That ROPU is awesome. I commanded a water purification unit in the national guard at one point.
We had these things called Ergolators. It was a giant chemistry set on wheels. The operators needed a LOT of training.
We would filter water through sand, then charcoal, then clay, then sometimes we used acid or base chemicals to raise or lower the PH to get stuff to drop out. . . ultimately we could filter sewer water and drink it, but what we could NOT do is, we could not desalinate drinking water.
One day they replaced all our Ergolators with ROWPUs. . . now, the AIT (Advanced individual training) was one of the shortest ones in the army, and we could filter sea water.
Trouble is, the filters are hella expensive and a little bit fragile. So if you accidentally throw some scarp metal in a ROPU you can do a lot of damage.
the maintenance on the ROPUs was nothing compared to the ergolators. Partly because they were new; partly because they are infinitely simpler.
I love seeing that old green fire-truck earning a living!
Overall, thanks for sharing your adventures here!

4:17 don't forget the niche markets though. If the bucket loader has a good engine, it may be easier to sell that alone and scrap the remainder of the machine, and end up with a comfortable medium profit.

After Desert Storm I worked on some 3K GPH ROWPUs getting them cleaned and shipped to Depot maintenance & storage. That is definitely a maintenance and expense nightmare. Probably best to just dismount the genset and the pumps for sale, remove the RO block guts and maybe use the trailer with container for something. The RO element cartridges and the chemicals will be crazy expensive and must be stored correctly or ruined.

That military a/c cart with the burned tire. Looks like the C-10 we use on the flight line. It should have a smaller "input" side that you would supply bleed air to from a jet turbine. Then you would get cold air from the 2 output side ports on the other side. Mainly used for cooling air on aircraft
