He was born in 81. So it's the music he grew up with. When I am writing riffs I also notice al lot of late 80's and early 90's things come through. And the early 90's were a magnificent time for Metal.
I met Ghost at a show in Kansas a little while back. I brought my CD booklet from this album to see if Tobias would sign it. When I handed it to him, he said "Do you want me to sign this 'Mary Goore?'" I must've looked like an excited little fanboy when I just murmured..."Fuck yessss...." Love this album so much!
God damn, why did it take me so long to get around to listening to this? The production is fucking PERFECT. Hungry Are the Damned melted my face off, AND a Morbid cover?! My neck will never survive!
I would love to but at the same time, it might be better that bands that put out a single killer album and then break up don't reform under the same name cause it'd be a shame to taint the original legacy. Nailbomb is another great example I think.
I am a big fan of Ghost, and most metal in general. Just wanted to comment that Tobias's involvement in Ghost and in this band led me here, and I'm glad it did because this is straight up ripping. I am truly impressed by the quality of this death metal

This isn't the worst I've heard, but I like hearing something other than cymbals. It just doesn't have the presence modern production offers. I still feel like I'm listening to dudes hitting their instruments as fast as possible in a garage instead of being transported to whatever they're growling about. But hey, to each their own.
