    The fact this reporter lists "cons" compared to a BMW X7 not having the same materials says alot. "It's a con that this doesnt have the same fine grain leather as a 3 times more expensive Gasoline BMW with double the starting price having not a single actual tech feature yet at that price point. But its not a BMW so that is a fault" Roflflffl

    It looks far better than the ugly iX and, it's not a dreary Audi either.
    I'm not in the market for a big SUV anyway but, the German brands especially are safe and dull designs. More to do with badge snobbery. The Kia wasn't designed to be ' hustled ' down twisty roads. Surprised didn't take it on a track. It's remit is a large family 7 seater.

    • @obk1404
      @obk1404 10 місяців тому +5

      I can understand why you would think it is enormous because every review I have seen today is going on endlessly about its huge size. The truth is that it is the same size as a BMW X5 a Mercedes GLE, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery and all those twin cab pickup trucks that seem to have become so popular. Now those are all large cars but also very common on European roads and by US standard they fall into the midsize SUV class. To be considered large in that market you would need to be closer to 6 metres in length

    • @dcvariousvids8082
      @dcvariousvids8082 9 місяців тому +1

      @@paulbrowne6087- Tilt ~ aftermarket or sometimes optional extra cover for the rear open load area of a pickup. These are bolted to the load bed’s upper rim. And can be de-mountable. Farmers often go for the aftermarket option, as they can be cheaper, (mainly due to being unpainted, plus having no windows) and can be got with a flip-up-and-over grille opening.
      Tilt can sometimes be got, with manual lifting component. Meaning that the cover-tilt, can hinge upward, so loading bulky things, can be achieved without the pushing/dragging on hands & knees. I think this is where the tilt got it’s name, as some and perhaps most in the past, could tilt-up like a visor.

    A good and sensible review. It seems as though this is one step too far.
    Last year i got a new Genesis Electrified G80, with Genesis being the premium luxury arm of Hyundai/Kia. The Electrified G80 is a large five metre long saloon who's primary rival would be the Mercedes EQE or the new BMW i5. For some perspective prior to the Genesis I had for seven years a Maserati Ghibli, and before that I had some six new Jaguar's over a twenty year period. When asked what I think of the Genesis, I say this is the best car I've owned! Unlike this new Kia it looks and feels every inch the luxury car, with the cabin, and the car itself looking and feeling more like a Bentley, and often being confused for one! Whilst at around 80k for the almost fully optioned model I have, so a little more than this EV9, you are left in no doubt that you have got more than your money's worth. Interestingly the smaller Genesis GV60 is based on the Kia EV6/Hyundai Ioniq, but thanks to a complete redesign by Genesis is transformed also into a real luxury car. Add in the five year concierge package for free servicing, and a sales strategy which sees Genesis being sold as a completely separate stand alone marque, it is clear Genesis is clear that this a serious brand in the premium sector.
    Whilst Genesis do make a large SUV (GV80) its petrol and I think diesel only, so as with the GV60 if their desiners got their hands on the EV9 platform, they could have a serious rival in the EV luxury SUV sector.
    As things stand it would appear the EV9 is a bridge too far!

    the main point I think is missed; if you want an adult sized third row outside of countries which sell the American 4x4s and you don't want a van you are limited to the Merc GLS. The X7 is almost there but not quite and similarly the Nissan Patrol. Not sure about the Palisade. There is also the Grand Cherokee L (I don't believe the bigger models are done in RHD) but, the seats are rock hard.

    I love my Hyundai diesel 2017, 7 seater Santa Fe and it's a huge value for what I paid (£25K when new, £17K now). Very reliable. I rode on an Uber EV 6 in London this week and it was impressive. So, although I can trust the brand better than say VW and Mercedes, I can't begin to fathom who in their sound mind would pay 70K for an all electric Kia. Both Kia and Hyundai lost their value for money appeal for me.

    If only there was some kind of liquid fuel source that could carried in a tank under the vehicle and topped up quickly when required. It could catch on. (instead of catching on fire)

      @@stuartburns8657 Google the Swedish MSB report - they've monitored vehicle fires across all types of cars across the years and found that, statistically, the number of EV fires (0.004% have caught fire) across all EVs driven in Sweden is 20x less than combustion engined vehicle fires (0.08% have caught fire) across all petrol/diesel vehicles.
      So, that suggests that when EVs outsell combustion engined cars, the occurrence of car fires will decrease by a factor of 20.
