We had been researching HOD for our big family and watching your videos on the different years we are on track for actually convinced us to try it for the first time this year! I just ordered my son’s curriculum (beyond little hearts) and are hoping to order CTC for my oldest in a few weeks! I’ve looked into not consumed several times so this was really encouraging to see.

I’ve looked into Heart of Dakota in the past, will have to look into it again. Definitely interested in the reading journal, love that! As a mom of boys, who is very particular about what they read, I really appreciate your book reviews. Just added Candy Bombers to my cart and looking to get the Winged Watchmen next :)

I have a Not Consumed Reading Journal...but I have yet to use it. My one son is a voracious reader and is constantly reading, however he doesn't do well at telling me what he read. So maybe having it be assigned would help me at least know some of what he's reading. My other son would love to do it as well and be able to draw and get his thoughts down on paper.
The Heart of Dakota looks great! I've been eyeing it for a few years now. I love reading and have determined that this upcoming school year we will focus a lot of our attention on learning from living books and the like. I'm excited! Now to just figure out an order and such.
The Candy Bomber looks like a fun story. I'm actually pretty familiar with the man that did that. He still does fly overs here in the States and drops candy each year for children here around a holiday. It's fun!
Also, how did your 7th grader become interested in WWII? I'm just wondering because my almost 6th grader doesn't seem to have many narrowed interests. Just a lot of general interests. Did you guide him in that? Is family involved?

Hey that is great that your boys love to read!! We really love HOD curriculum for the living books!! It is all laid out 😉
That is so interesting about Candy Bomber, I need to look into that!
Ok he is quite different from my other boys!! He really became interested in ships which led him into planes and then battles. It started a little in 3rd grade with liking to draw them or copy from books. I think i would just get little things here and there. It was not something I pushed on him😉 But my other boys know a lot about history and military but don’t express it the same way lol. My 3rd son has never had a strong interest but loves people and serving. He has grown a lot in the high school years with history and a desire for knowledge. Each child will mature differently❤️

I was just looking at the Not Consumed reading journal when I ordered their Bible studies. Thank you for posting this! I have the Winged Watchman on my shopping list for the future with my kids. I am so interested in Lamplighter books.

I purchased Heart of Dakota after watching your videos - looking forward to using it this year! I've heard of Not Consumed - thinking about giving it a try at some point.

They both look like great resources. I have used Bible studies from Not Consumed but didn't realize they even had this. I have been researching HOD. I signed up for a catalog, and everything looked intriguing. We are considering Lamplighter books this semester. We have already read a couple and enjoyed them.

We are using HOD this year for the first time - don't have the drawn into the heart of reading yet however- and are looking forward to it. We have not yet read books from the Lamplighters but want to look into after watching this video.

I've thought Not Consumed's Reading Journal and Heart of Dakota's Drawn into the Heart of Reading were similar. Candy Bomber and The White Knight are on my list 😊

Yes I think they both help you think about character and godly characteristics ❤️ Also word studies!

We use Drawn Into The Heart of Reading after I saw it on your channel a year or so ago. I love it! My kids pick their own books within the genre and we have a little book club. So great!

The Reading Journal looks intriguing, however, so does the Heart of Dakota! Hmmm…

I have looked into both of these as well, but it was hard enough getting my eldest to love reading. Adding all the extra hasn’t worked well. He generally just does oral narration.
