Might be a stupid question here. But let’s say a song is in G major and the second chord of the song is C. Would I be able to play some fills in the c major scale while they are over that chord and it still sound good? Or should I just stick to g major scale licks if that’s the key of the song?
That would probably be the IV chord in the key of G so C major would nearly work but the F would clash against the F# found in G Major. So, in this case, stick to G Major!
Another very practical lesson and advice! Bassists are supposed to be supportive not show off fills skills!
Man, as soon as I get home I will grab my bass and try these out, I'm almost jumping in excitment, love this channel. God bless you
Have fun!
I agree don't step on anyone's spot but I play with a drummer that loves when I do a run with him .
Thanks!
Thanks for the kind donation!
Thanks for all the Great Lessons Dan!
My pleasure!
Hi Dan... another great important lesson on pentatonic scales... and the how to use and when to use fills 🎸🤟
I like the Bob Marley original. Rip Aston Barrette. But Willie Weeks is one of the best. There’s a video of them at crossroads playing it.
Agreed but if you learn The Wailers version no bass fills are needed.
Again a great way to show what is possible if you learn and practice
What a great tutorial. Loved it. Listened to the songs and played the bass lines. Wonderful. Thanks Dan learnt a lot.😊
Thanks, Keith. Glad you enjoyed it!

Good lesson Dan. What is the bass amp head you are playing through? I think it’s behind your right shoulder.
That’s a Jules Monique but I’m not going through it here. Just an Avalon U5 straight in.
👍 The bass sounds great on UA-cam. @@OnlineBassCourses
