    Thank God I started learning theory as soon as I started playing. It's ludicrous to say that learning theory hampers creativity, it simply makes no sense. Every "aha!" moment I've had while studying theory directly improved my playing, bass line construction, and gave me many, many new patterns and licks. Please, study theory through exercises, I'm sure that Dan's course is incredible!

    Many thanks to you friend. Total rookie here (started playing bass in May), and your videos and dedicated practice have helped me to become a passing bassist.
    At this point I'm a bit more Dee Dee Ramone than Les Claypool, but I'm enjoying learning bass from you...

    Dan, thank you for your videos over the years and teaching me when I couldn't afford any lessons at all. Now that I can, I got your music theory course today. Keep doing what you're doing on UA-cam and helping others like me grow and learn.

    This is a great lesson to help open up my range on the bass, I’m getting stuck in a pattern of basically box patterns and it will be great to try something completely different from what I’m practicing now to add some new tools and really give me a fresh perspective on how to improve my style. Thank you

    Morning Dan.. you hit the nail right on the head, I too was not understanding how important it is to know all pentatonic scales and listen closely to what's being played around you .. after learning all pentatonic scales, I've always used it .. Thanks for sharing.

    I’ve got a grip on some aspects of music theory, but there are definitely holes in my education. Also, practical application seems to be difficult at times. Dan, I really like your teaching style in your UA-cam videos, so I just ordered your Music Theory For Bass Players course and can’t wait to dig in.
    Thanks again for these free UA-cam videos, your work is greatly appreciated!

      I have some lessons on my channel that go deeper into arpeggios if you want to do a quick search. You’ll learn all the shapes and how to use them.

    Good morning, you are very good at what you doing with the lesson but I'm asking. Could you please slow it down a little bit I like listening to you and you give good points. Do everything but sometimes I'm looking at it. I'm trying to make out how where's your finger place that or is I try to catch it by ear?😊

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  Рік тому +1

      Thanks. Yes I know I go too fast for some people (sorry!) but you can always rewind or even play it back half speed. Sometimes I’m just demonstrating a general point too.

    Hi Dan. When you are performing etc are you counting the bars or the rotations of the bass part?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  5 місяців тому +1

      It depends. Mostly feeling it and counting around the bass part. Always counting though even if it’s automatic.

    Hi Dan, I don't read music, well slow reader, mostly technique gained from watching UA-cam, but I 'm familiar with tabs. What is your skill requirements to follow your online course?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  Рік тому +2

      Hi. Most people don’t read on bass so my course contains TAB (as well as notation) and fretboard diagrams. I do have a few sections that will help you learn to read if you want to but there’s no requirement to read music at all. It’s suitable for beginners as it starts easy. It then goes deeper but you can take it at your own speed.
