    This is truly awesome. A faction designed by the community? And what an awesome mechanic! Color me impressed!

    Genuinely one of the coolest designs for a faction I've ever seen in a game.
    Also whoever's idea it was to make the main story quest in the POV of the assimilated minor faction is so damn cool

    The Cultists are awesome. I just wish the converted villages could be upgraded to get at least roads and some militia going (along with a cool design) and it really sucks when the AI destroyes villages I already converted without declaring war.

    Definitely interesting faction. I don't really love the unit designs, but i must admit they feel fresh and fit in the overall world of the game. Awesome game, been having tons of fun.
    Cheers

    This is truly my favorite faction to play, only down side is that when you convert other minor factions is that they don't get the cool masks and that most of the time you can't see you're little converted villages so you have to micro a unit over to them so that you can gain the other units that they have inside! They should gain a vision of the converted minor faction! I DO LOVE this game thou. you guys did a truly awesome job with the art style on it!

    Very nice. Looks like an imaginative 4x, something fresh that doesn't copy Civilization, but is full of new ideas.
    Is there a chance it'll be released on GOG?

    The one thing that I don't like about the Cultists is the Quest dealing with the disbeliever. As the Cultists, you start off with parlay and it is significantly cheaper to bribe/do quest and then convert than it is to burn down and convert and as the game continues on, the necessity to burn and convert becomes less and less significant. The Disbeliever goes around stating that the Cultist burned down his village(which is stupid for any cultist player) then follows the cultist faithfully into destroying a city and butchering rebels, but as soon as we start converting again, the disbeliever starts having a crisis of faith. Dude, seriously, I didn't kill any minors you fuck, why are you suddenly having doubts when you were perfectly okay burning down a town full of people and butchering rebels?
    People have claimed that the Cultists are evil, but compared to the Necrophage, the Broken Lords, the BDSM Mages, the gameplay of the Drakken, the AI of the Wild Walkers, and this dumbass disbeliever, the Cultist seem pretty okay.

      Good thing vaulters are okay. I love science factions. But what do you mean exactly by the ai of the wild walkers? I'm a bit new to this game so like, are they usually insane? Do they declare war on everyone? I'm still on my first game ever, as the vaulters, and they're the only faction with which i have a peace treaty and some trade and science agreements (well, the necrophages got to the mages and the cultists got to the traveling clans before i could make peace but whatever, still works) so they don't seem as wild as the name suggests (though the peace deal was struck right after they tried to murder my hero and one of his armies so maybe you're right). Oh and also am i wrong or does the cultist's lore actually say, disbeliever or not, that they're manipulative bastards who brainwash people into almost slavery with a spice of madness?

      @@bonogiamboni4830the ai is unneccesarily aggressive. Which is funny because when I play an auriga map, WW are usually the first ones the cultists kill

  • @davidadrm

    a district level of 2 max. ok.
    that and how to get to those levels,
    and how the diplomacy works (how to influence the AI to be in peace with you without firing a single arrow),
    and why there is an approval of zero once you capture a city and the high reduction on your own cities approval when you conquer enemy cities (how to go around this and how is this fun since you cannot raise the conquered city down since the approval is zero),
    these are really good questions that aren't answered in the tutorial or anywhere

      For Information: I've just played the game for a total of 4h--> NO PRO
      Levels: Your districts/Citys gain level by being surrouned by 4 districts (or more)
      Peace: For me it worked by extinguishing one faction, and all the other become peaceful with me (or by complimanting them/give them ressources)
      For Citys: For me, as soon a s I conquer a city, it just disappears
      I've I made a mistake somewhere, please correct me;)
      Hope I helped

    yea whatever, but these cultists need to be rebalanced...they are too powerful early game. it is not really interesting to play this faction either...(designed by the community....heh)
    all you do is you manage one city. you really don't want to trade, and you really aren't interested in diplomacy...all you do is convert as many villages as possible using so much influence you generate in that one city of yours (level 3 districts) and use the free units to overwhelm other factions early in the game....other factions really can't build that many units without sacrificing something....especially those that are focused on science victory..
    they really aren't interested in strategic resource either, their free units not upgradable....and they only have one city!

    • @Z3phiron
      @Z3phiron 10 років тому +5

      Strategic resources is vital for their faction units to develop their true potential (especially post 2nd era units). Besides, producing "a lot" of units without being able to sustain them is not viable, for it would force you to max up dust production at the cost of scientific evolution and/or necessary early upgrades. Unless you start rushing and harassing your neighbour's peaceful hamlet with your first, fastly recruited Lv 1 thug, they soon become dangerously limited by the specifications of their faction traits, that is focusing on maxing out resource infrastructures and influence points in order to maximize the spread of the cult around villages that will serve as complementary resource and industry-free, low leveled cannon fodder generators. The problem with the midgame village recruitment is that none of the units produced in the villages that aren't part of your assimilated pals are a viable solution once the upper tiers are reached by the other factions, for they get utterly disadvantaged within best suited armies and add to the overall army cost without providing it with enough dmg / def. So it will mostly depend on how many villages of the same minor faction you'd control, making the expansion more random than classic city building. In the end, solitary villages will be nothing but cannon fodder till you find the rest of them on the map...if you have time to do that x).
      This constant juggling of priorities make these cultists one of the most difficult factions to play with IMO, but they're far from being uninteresting if the player manages them towards endgame. ;)

      @zylothecat7449 10 років тому

      Z3phiron play a 1v1 small map, i guarantee you, they will overwhelm you before you can research shit....
      no....why don't you put everything on normal difficulty (fair right?) and have 4 AI duking it out...guess who is going to win?
      yup you got it right...the cultist will eat up everyone around them....
      drakken and their diplomacy? forget it....
      vultures (extremely powerful late game but early game, her research is not going to help her fend off)
      necrophages (slightly having a better chance, still cannot stand up to it as the winter hits and food shortages kicks in)
      mages has a good chance against them, again has the same problem like vultures...
      roving clans...the shittiest faction by far....will not be able to economically sustain itself if the settlers are going to be slain one by one by neutrals and free cultist units
      broken lords? hah these dust clowns will die before they can even have a chance to repair themselves...
      wildwalkers has really weak archers early game, tho they build things fast, they really will struggle in terms of war early game...
      that is why zerg (from sc and sc2) is so feared....their cheese is really cheesy and really hard to counter....cultists and their free units early on is just too powerful if you are right next to them...they will devour....so don't be the fool who spawn near them...if you spawn far away from them by luck, then maybe....maybe you might destroy them later...but i still doubt it as the queen will almost completely ignore their teck tree and going straight for the military rush. each city razed gives her more influential level 3 districts...really scary one city rush....
      yes you are correct, they are weak late game, and that is why they need to be rebalanced...because they are extremely powerful early and as soon as you don't do well you quit the game....that is zerg's popular cheese....so dumb....

    • @sern.21
      @sern.21 10 років тому +3

      On the contrary, if you simply destroy their converted villages you kick their only advantage right out from under them.
      Having played as Cultists that's exactly what the AI did early on. They walked over all the villages I had converted and even the ones I hadn't yet without even declaring war. One of my villages had max 4 ice wargs in it and they trashed that village with spammed tier 3 units like it was nothing. Not to mention, how can I rebuild villages once they've been destroyed if I can't settle in the region? I don't even know if there's a way to rebuild those villages because if there is I haven't found it.
      Once I lost the villages from AI I was only at cold war with the game was over for me before I got more than 60 turns in.
