My experience, temps are key, oxygen satiration and the use of peroxide. Clean well between cycles

Root rot sucks ! Thanks for the great advice :)

What is the recommended h202/water dilution ratio to prevent and also kill root rot?

Great question! Here is a post on the Aero-Gro website that covers that: aero-gro.com/how-to-use-hydrogen-peroxide-to-prevent-and-kill-root-rot/

Subbed. Never tried real hydro growing, though I would like to some-day soon. I use a sub-irrigated pot, atm.
Would like a future video on germinating old seed by that magnetic hack you mentioned, in the last video prior to this. Keep up the good work on growing content.

Thanks for the sub! I will definitely do a video on the magnetic seed technique. I'm actually about to treat some seeds this afternoon. Perfect timing! Thanks again. Stay tuned...

you need to add some air stones to the hydroponics system, to increase total dissolved oxygen in the water which will naturally prevent root rot, as well as help the plants grow faster. there are some air pumps with multiple outlets and they are quiet and energy efficient, for the air stones the larger the surface area the better .
the algae you can clean best with bleach solution use cold water to mix, as hot water leads to decomposition of bleach, just pour some in and let it recirculate for 30 minutes this should be enough, then rinse it with vinegar solution to destroy remaining bleach and after that rinse with clear water. the result is pristine containers probably cleaner then straight from the factory

Those are really great suggestions! I really like your bleach > vinegar approach for absolute sanitation. I steer away from those more hardcore approaches with viewers because I imagine all kinds of disasters concerning bleach. But yeah - if you want it REALLY clean...
I especially like how you use vinegar to neutralize the bleach.
Actually... 1 Part Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) mixed with 10 parts water will also neutralize bleach!
I also like the suggestion about the air stone. I have talked about using air stones in other videos, but didn't mention it in this one. I will be sure to mention that again in upcoming videos.
I actually include an airstone with every Hang-Ten and Hawaii system. I agree that it's really important for root health.
      Thanks!!

You absolutely do not use bleach to clean any of these systems out. That makes no sense. Akaline solutions corrode metal and when they dry out, go back into a salt form which means that you will have premature wear on your components. This is why you use hydrogen peroxide because when it contacts with water, it dissociates into water and oxygen.

hey great video, thanks for sharing. about UV lamps, read online that it also affect some minerals, like iron, do you know how bad does it affect ?

Hello! Thanks so much. What you are suggesting is being studied as we speak. I tend to think (at this point) that UV is best used to kill pathogens OUTSIDE of the nutrient tank. Basically, use it everywhere EXCEPT inside of the nutrient tank. That seems to be the safest approach, just in case it actually does affect minerals.

I made a seperate 1-2 gallon chamber with an intake and outtake , that circulates water around the light constantly and it never turns off, off the the side of the main reservoir, what do you think?

I went to buy peroxide and the lady had to go back to her boss, talking for 15 minutes before they were sure that they were allowed to sell this quantity and concentration of peroxide to private customers.
People selling goods not knowing the exact legal situation, how is a hydro man supposed to thrive in a world like this?
I also once went to garden in the department store and asked for rockwool to propagate and the two guys manning the 'information desk garden' laughed at me and explained that I must be mistaken, rockwool is in another department and used for construction.
Working in gardening and not knowing about rockwool, how is a coco man to thrive in a world like this?
For the love of god, let the chains die, they do not deserve customers. Order online. If they cry about their jobs being taken away by the internet next time, share some anecdotes with them and ask them what they think they do better than the internet. Used to be giving out personal advice, but I cannot recall the last time I was actually helped and enlightened in a store that does not sell clothes.

Light interference? I don’t think that’s a real thing. For my current understanding one light does not “ push “ other light away. Maybe in perception to our eyes but the energy transmitted onto the surfaces will be the same. Otherwise we could make those light sabers.
