to be honest, if you ever eat food at a restaurant or someone's house, you are literally eating people's dead skin cells that flake off everywhere and in the air traveling and landing on your food. Everyone is eating many people's dead skin cells when they eat as well as airborn particulates that come from people's breathing and speaking/talking/laughing at restaurants and you don't realize it either.

@@breakaway2x yes but that's not the same. It's different because she was decomposing. That's the worst part. From the moment she died her body would already be starting to rot and in a body of water, her decomposition would only be accelerated. Plus they took a while to find her. Eating rotten meat is enough to make you sick but a heavily decomposed body.... Good God...

@@areiaaphrodite for sure its still worse. but in the end dirty water is dirty water. ppl choose to use it or not without knowing whats in it. I like the point they made in the trial of negligence where a tank of water should always be locked and not easily accessible because then it would be used to poison everyone with the water. a bad person could put anything in the water tanks and contaminate everyone. I'm amazed that the water tank hatch was never locked and that it's that easy to open it up and put anything inside

She didn't just fall in. It's not like it's some gaping hole that you can accidentally fall into! She either CLIMBED in, of her own accord (which I find hard to fathom), or she was killed, and disposed of in the tank (which would mean someone had to get her dead body up the ladder to the top of the tank, which is equally hard to fathom). So, still no answer as to how she DID end up in the tank, but she absolutely DID NOT just fall in!
(It is possible she was acting out the events of Dark Water, too. The events in the film are too similar to just be coincidence)

Yeah. After watching the documentary and listening to what her own sister had to say (and other people saying she was leaving weird post-it notes everywhere and screaming in the lobby that she's crazy) it's really pretty uneventful. Sad, yes, but this ain't no ghost. She stopped taking her meds and had a psychotic episode.

However, this was done by the maintenance worker once he discovered the dead body, so the worker had originally found the lid open and when he saw the dead body he closed it before going back down to report it. It is also worth noting that the police did do a search of the entire hotel including the rooftop with dogs but completely missed out the tankers - even though apparently helicopters were also used in the search.

Wouldn't Elisa figure that she sounded the fire alarm when she went out on the roof? And then climbed inside the water tank to hide? When she heard sirens, which is common in a city with 15 million people she "hid". She was hiding in the elevator on video to support my theory. Her hands are describing the elevator to someone in the hall who most likely informed her to use the stairwell outside. I think she was on the top floor coming from the room she was relocated to.

I swear having a diagnosis mental health problem, no matter the severity or lack there of works AGAINST you. If anything happens to you it's the FIRST thing that is brought to the forefront. That video in my opinion doesn't prove she was having an "episode" at all. The elevator wouldn't close and it appears this was the first time it had happened to her, hence why she was hitting on buttons and testing the doors. She absolutely could have been in real danger. We don't know who she ran into AFTER she got off the elevator or if she really was trying to get away from someone. Why does her mental health have to take presidency over someone attacking her?. She would have had to have some lifting power to maneuver that lid above her head. The maintainance worker sounds like he had every rhyme and reason for her situation and how she could've did this and that, but is it feasible. I don't believe she went thru all that work to conceal her body just to end her life. It all sounds absurd and likely impossible. In Asian culture they believe in putting people to rest properly and she would have wanted her family to do so at the very least. I don't believe this was a supernatural occurrence either. A human being of flesh and blood hurt her and placed her into that tank, end of story. This happened to a young Asian exchange student at an elite college as well and had they not had a bunch of cameras showing that she never left that building the poor girl would have never been found, after a creep coworker m*rdered her and placed her body in walls of a science lab that had been closed off for some time.

This is clear and easy, unfortunately this type of stuff happens a lot. By the video provided to us it’s completely tampered by someone before it was investigated by the police. Or even the police knows stuff that they don’t want us to know.
But in the video it’s clear she was drugged. My guess is there is people in the hotel or just in the area that monitors single women to drug them up and rape them. By her reaction at the elevator it looks like she was clearly not her self. In the video she also seems to be interacting with someone. If the elevator wasn’t moving it’s probably because someone is pressing the button. She ended going with them and the rest is history.
The person who killed her knew people if not that person worked for the hotel and tampered with the video. Cmon we have no video of her entering the front office and going to the 5th floor. We have no video evidence of her going up the the final floor. And walking up to the roof top.

My working theory is that I totally believe now that she committed suicide. She was on meds for depression/bipolar. She was not the partying kind, no, but as a detective stated, it's not a leap to think a 21 year old would "experiment" while travelling on own and feeling freedom. However, I think she would have perhaps had a couple of drinks, nothing major. It mixed with her meds, which she wouldn of have predicted, she hallucinated, became paranoid, it propelled the meds. She was pushing the buttons and so forth yes, because she was kind of out of it then. There was not another person's foot outside the elevator, that was hers...if you watch it again it's easy to tell it's her turning a bit weirdly. The time stamp is "off" because it's such an old crap system that it is just totally wonky. I do no believe anyone messed with the video. It's just a terribly old and degraded system. She follows the stairs up to the roof. The door was not locked nor alarmed. This is denied by the Manager but we'll get to that. She goes up, like many people have before her, where they met, smoked, drank, graffittied, etc. She was going to jump. She was ending her life. But that jump is deemed perhaps ugly, crass, not peaceful. She saw the stairs to the water tanks, curious. Goes up. Lifts the lid. Decides to strip and leave the world as she entered it; nude. Thinks she won't be found for a long time if ever. Dives in. Drowns. The cover is off. She goes missing. Hell bent to find her. Media and detectives everywhere. The Manager says to the Maintenance guy, hey, go up and check the roof before sh** hits. He does. He sees the cover off, puts it back on without thinking or looking. Leaves. The Manager arms the alarm and then states it is always armed. She lied about this. She is a Manager of the Cecil for 10 years and knows what it is like there with tenants. That's what I believe occurred. Nothing to do with the LAPD, conpiracies, blah blah. No. It is a case of actual simplicity. It is still a tragic loss and very sad for so many. I do believe she is at peace. Love to her and her family and everyone who cared so much as try and help. I do not mean to offend anyone, this is only my theory. But I feel strongly that the easiest and simplest path on this is the answer. May Elisa truly rest in peace.

When they said her roommates complained about her behavior (what kind of hotel puts complete strangers in a room together, outside of hostels?), along with see her behavior on the elevator, I was thinking she was either bipolar, or drugged. She must have stopped taking her meds & was in a manic state.
I wonder if someone from Maintenance, closed the tank lid, shortly after she died, but before her body started to smell. I can’t believe it took 2 weeks for her body to contaminate the water for guests. I’m guessing she was hallucinating, though I don’t know what, & she stripped down, & got in, possibly unable to get herself out before drowning.
Did they find the clothes she was wearing that day? What did the post-mortem blogs say? Maybe she wrote & scheduled the blog posts during her manic phase, & while it seems strange to us, scheduling them so far in advance, it made perfect sense in her manic head.

Not unusual to wave hand to try to get elevator doors to work. Not unusual to get in and out. If elevator is not working. It is called being impatient and pressing too many buttons. But, what is unusual is that she went up to top floor. They should have fingerprinted the doors of the stairwells and find out who used the access to the roof through the stairwell after her. But, they didn't really do much of an investigation. They knew Cecil had video, but they waited days to watch it. A hotel that has thousands of 911 calls to it every year... police knew exactly what type of security the building had. Why not look at footage immediately? Lol

It's just tragic. She was a very smart young woman. She was just young, 21, and I am guessing wanted to explore the world without her meds. I feel sad for her family too. It seemed clear to me when I saw the elevator footage she was having a manic episode which had intensified into psychosis, which is not that unusual with types of bipolar. Later that was confirmed by the paranoia witnessed at the hotel (that they told us about at the end of the series). Just tragic. The whole environment was filled with crazy, she just didn't stick out that much in downtown LA/Skid Row. She was right when she said, "I'm crazy, but LA is crazy too!" (my paraphrase from memory).

Yeah she could've just jumped but not if she didn't want to be found, she sees the tank with a ladder left by maintance staff, schedules some blog post so mom and dad think she ran away then jumps into the tank and some poor maintance smuck that came back to finish work closed the lid and took the ladder back in the next day.... she goes from taking herself out publicly to an opportunity of potentially sparing her parents the embarrassment of a child that chose to give up on life

Its not a mystery, she went nuts, spoke to invisible people who told her to go to the roof and climb into a water tank... Insanity is science, not supernatural...

"nuts" is insensitive. She had a manic episode from an illness

Yep that's what happened, people are just trying to spin it. And the lid could have been closed by wind.
