If you wanted to live in your pallet room that's your happiness that you took the time to build and nobody's business who ever don't like it . just keep at it and be proud of it.
I agree the fact that he is actually getting up and doing something instead of the whining most do is 98% ahead of the rest in my books, building is hard takes you using the brains god gave us and just getting up doing it and sticking to it even on days you don’t want to. Having a strong support system helps why my 2 youngest I raised started on theirs at 18 and 20 took us 2 1/2 years but they have a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom 960sqft cabin on 1/2 acre did it on Pizza Hut paychecks only got a loan for septic, kitchen cabinets and appliances . My brother ran electrical and I did their water lines. Their co worker hasn’t been so lucky still living off grid as no one to help with electrical or plumbing I told him watch utube even if you have to watch it 1000 times it’s what we did
Hey mate! I'm very proud of you and thankful that you're sharing these videos! I wish I could a nice property like that where I can also do what I want to do on it without someone else telling me that I can't do something.
Good to see you again , ivy being your excellent little helper once again . continuing another build , eager to see the end result and your continuing future in the new land purchase . and your new plans for the future . sending regards to all the family . keep up the good work and content everyone . keep going never give up guys . from UK . .
really enjoying the series, its very inspirational! One thing, maybe you could add some chill vibe music during the timelapse sequences, the silence is jarring LOL Great Job on the project and the video though! Thanks
Oh man! If only I still had one of my first videos! It was back when I was trying to figure out how you edit videos, and I did that by making my own music and overlaying that on a video of me making a fish hook lol - Your comment made me remember that. But yes I will see what all free music is available. I bet even the sounds of the forest would be better than nothing. I'll pass that along to Celia.
We appreciate that. And I hope so as well! I'll keep putting one foot in front of the other. Things are slow when you're working alone, but the pride is unmatched when the thing is done!
I built a woodshed out of pallets as big as this bottom floor and it's as strong as can be ...so you will have a strong built house ....better than a 2x4 or 2x6 frame building ....pallets are very strong ....good job
Watching this video and the previous has been incredibly inspiring, we're gonna do a "shed" expansion in a similar fashion in the next few days. I've been a little worried because honestly we'll be doing it out of necessity as well, so the worry really comes from knowing It's really our only affordable option. In the past hour watching P1 and Part 2 of this series I've gone from worry to excitement, can't wait to see more. Thanks for putting this one up
If you are near a harbor freight store, don’t know what the pallet are pine or oak, here at my store in South Georgia they are free for the taking. I been looking at them when I go to town they have looks like they have about twenty of them . Every Thursday or Friday they have freight trucks delivering stuff to them and pallets are left beside the trash dumpster, for easy access to them to get them in my truck. I been wanting to make a pallet wood, firewood storage for all these down trees from the hurricane, pecan and oak wood.😊
FYI, you can pick up a ton of random hardware at rock bottom prices from estate sales, I have thousands of dollars in nuts, bolts, screws and nails, just from buying jars and coffee tins full of hardware at yard/estate sales, not to mention all the great tools you can find.
Use bolts and not nails sounds like good advice when you work with oak. Thank you for this tip. I find it very valuable. God bless you mate! I really like your ideas. I wish I was there helping you build this. I would help you out for a few days for free just so that I could get a bit of experience.
Where can I get that cool looking saw like you are using is cuts great better than a long hand saw. Also a subscriber, enjoy your build of this pallet house ❤,great idea for pallets to use for your house. Also very cheap materials, than big box stores of wood, that has become so expensive.😮.
hi! love your channel, just stumbled onto you in the last video. we are doing a pallet shed and I needed a "how to" so thank you! How are you guys planning on insulating? Are you going to stuff the middle with Straw? That's what we are planning on doing and wanted to see the best way to do so, if you are going to do that.
You 'NAILED' it!! Haha I honestly didn't think about the air compressor.. I had looked up battery powered Palm nailers but ran off once I saw the price. But yes! You are 100% correct every single one of my knuckles is bloody from trying to hammer inside of these pallets LOL
Our last property was in Yancey county, and both of us were born and raised in that area. But we have since moved a few States over to our new property.
Everyone needs to understand that all pallets are made out of #3 lumber. So everyone knows some pt like me worked on lumber mills and I did some grading.
Have you done a video outlining your actual plan for this project. I personally fail to get the actual point of this tower or what it is going to accomplish.
That is correct. I still prefer screws, I think if you use enough of them your bord will break before the screws will.. But because we're unable to protect our structure from the changes in humidity I have predominantly used nails on this structure.
Why have you used short pieces of wood ( as a laminated strut for the wall pallets ) instead of, like you did with the floor, ( 12 feet long ) use longer pieces ( 8 feet ?) that will anchor all the wall pallets together ? Too expensive? Sorry I should have put this up as a separate comment not in the reply section.
They're closer than anybody else. But almost a year later nobody's made the trip up to see us yet. Them or otherwise if that's what you're getting at LOL
Wow I knew you helped Sam on his trailer before he moved to the Greeneville area.... family don't always help each other. Your place reminded me of our home place in West Virginia only ours was down hill going to the place. We had 29 acres , our own water source, plenty of woods and just a few acres of good farming land, but had our own coal mines for heat it was a great way of life.

I'm not sure which adds more to your construction videos - your daughter or your cat. They're both hysterical!
Coming right along!

Don't, music makes it cringe.
agreed! I thought my phone was acting up and the volume went out
I like the ending to that video as well. You have your own video editor:-)

Just found this channel a few weeks ago and I find myself coming back to check in on you guys. Hoping good things happen to you
We appreciate that.

That's exactly why we are here! It's all a matter of perspective and actually getting out there and doing it.
Nice video like the way you put them together. Thinking of building a car shed 24x48 10or 12’ walls.

Love your channel, exciting to see the pallet structure going up. I think you and your family are awesome ‼️. ❤️😁🌹
We just do what we can, but I appreciate it!

Hopefully you're along for the journey from now on!
Great presentation!

Perty dang amazing. I realize you are off grid, but one tool I think that would have been awful handy for ya is a palm nailer and air compressor.
You 'NAILED' it!!
Haha

how about drilling a 1/2 hole and using wooden dowels and glue to join the oak pallets?
I’ve seen a house about this small studio type the room was the living room bathroom and kitchen no laundry room and they had outdoor storage
I'm starting my palette build this summer because I watched this. Do you do private consultations?
thank you for posting!
We've had a couple people ask us this question, I think we will start offering a similar service.
Why bolts and not nails or screws?
❤😊❤😊❤😊
You can use mud to fill your wall, just like ram dirt wall. But you cant build that type wall during winter
What part of nc you in im in trinity nc?

so I learned from carpenters nails should be used because they will give flex, as the house shifts screws break
That is correct.

In the beginning, dreads. Then no dreads. And in the end, dreads again. I am confused 😀
Hey he’s got it like that, believe me he knows what he’s doing with his locks (excellent) 🤙🏽
Are y'all close to Sam and Angela ?
They're closer than anybody else.

I got tired just watching you do all that.
Well I’m taking your place 😊, I’ve been building my granny baby a playhouse watching him, it’s working out awesome
am I the only one who sees the dry rot...?
You're the only one who feels the need to point out the obvious 🤷♀️😅
pallet to perfection that you do not have aesthetics, waste time for the project.
