Ur the best professor ever we are learning from you and following your tutorials from all over the world, thank you for this great video and keep up the good work ur the best. All respect from TURKEY 🙏❤
Thanks a lot! You really help a LOT. I have a dj contest in my city and it gonna be my first ever try with that beast! So, now that I learn a lot from you I must say a big fat thank you!
It is definitly good explained, people who are interested in this will get a lot of information about handling with this Product. -I have that beast of am monster piece of best mixer I ever had. after 5 months of working/using the DJM-900NXS 2 mixer,I am still surprised about the really, really good sound of it. So amazing, even when I play "just" mp3´s it is blowing my mind! The 64bit Signal-Processor ist the best sound quality I have everheard of a digital mixer. Thanx, dude. That video is welldone!
not sure, it has been a while since I made the video. I believe the send and return are only for the effect machine , what's it called ? the RMX something something. It has also been a while since I've played with one.
If I will set Crossfader Disabled on my Serato DJ Pro + DVS the A Thru B selector will be disabled as well? I am looking forward for your response, Man. Thank you :)
hi there! had connected to usb A and it kept loosing connection (seemed like a loose port cable was perfectly fine) anyway to combat this? i then switched to usb b and nothing, could not get any signal there either. Is there a such thing as a “magnetic cable” or some very strong cable that can combat loose ports? thanks
Dexter can you get into the Send and Receive function a little more. Can anything be received from the USB (ie, can I play a song from my phone via USB) through the receive. Thank you.
I'm not really familiar with send and return. I think they are meant for samplers like the pioneer rm1000 you can indeed connect your iphone, I tried that once, but that was so shaky and the transfer via Wifi to your iphone so unrelyable (usb is faster and easier), that it was the first and the last time that I used it.
Damn now we will never know how to combat world hunger and make our economy flourish again. You should seriously consider doing another dedicated UA-cam channel for this 😅 But on a serious note, thanks for the walk-through! Have you used the DDJ-XP1 controller in standalone mode (so without a laptop) with this setup, too?
Ok, no worries. I was just curious. Well look at the trending page on UA-cam, those kind of channels are quite popular. But on a serious note, I was just kidding ;-)
Thanks Dexter, I had my heart set on buying the Nxs2 system, but I think you are right about the RX2. Apart from not having 4 Channels, the Rx2 appears to have everything else and looks to be solid.
I have ordered the RX2 but I am still debating if I have made the right decision? I know I'm not getting a lot less in performance, but the NXS2 system is still a solid piece. Decisions, decisions??
Hi, great video. Quick question regarding the mixer inputs. I currently have the Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS2 along with the 900NXS2, when I plug usbs into my laptop (rekordbox) and put each deck on a channerl (CH 1 & CH4 for example), how do I get the signal on my CDJs as well? In what setting should I put them?
Hello Dexxter, one question, this mixer what kind of booth connector has? TRS? I have two Pioneer RM5 booth active monitors and I have them plugged into the mixer with to XLR cables. Those RM5 booth monitors only have XLR and unbalanced RCA connections. Thanks
I don't know on top of my headthere is e section of the backside in the video. there is a balanced and unbalanced connection (RCA and Jack), but i;m lost if thats the booth monitor or not.
Dexter how hot does your 900 get ? I have one but it gets really hot on the bottom and the sides ( and a little in the top) and I’m afraid to put my CDJs next to it.. just curious if yours gets just as warm?
Hi Dexxter. Nice review. I just got my NXS2 and want to practice at night, just in headphones. Problem is i cant seem to use the cross fader or up faders when just in headphones. Is there a way to use it. Am i on the wrong cue channel etc. Any help would be great please. Thanks
Hello bro... thank you for full detail tutorial. I have question for you. I have the same mixer DJM 900 N2. and I am having one issue. My XLR master output is giving me distorted sound. But the RCA output is working fine. What should I do?
@@DexxterClarkMusic I recently purchased this mixer and I'm now on my second due to a fault with the first straight out of the box. The second one arrived with an annoying black mark on the white effects on/off button and minor scratches on the rear panel. I let pioneer know that their quality control needs seriously looked at.
Hi there Dexter, One question.. In stand alone players recording a set is really easy via the USB.. Can you please explain how to do this with the DJM 900? via Laptop and or else
the djm900 doesn't have the feature built-in indeed. But it can act as a soundcard on a computer, so just select the master channel on your computer to record from. Even easier is connecting a phone and record it via the rekordbox app. Or use the line out to connect it to the soundcard of your computer. There are also funny casette-tape-shaped recorders by Reloop that record on usb (also works via the line out)
Thanks so much Dexter! I just bought this mixer. Here is my biggest question. Has pioneer or any third-party company developed a VST plugin of the effects in the DJM-900NXS2? I want to be able to automate the effects in Ableton and for it to have the same sound of the effects in the Pioneer DJM-900NXS2. I think the effects in rekordbox are the same as on the mixer correct? If so, I don't see why they wouldn't have this effects section as a VST plugin but I can't find any mention of it. It's mind-boggling.
you are thinking the wrong way :) Why is the quality of VSTs not available on the mixers? Even the cheapest VST have better quality (even thrue oversampling) than the nxs2 mixer, so I don't see why you even want that
Dexxter Clark - DJ & Music Production tutorials Hmmm. Well, I have collected what seems like nearly every plugin in the world and nothing sounds like the filter on the DJM-900NXS2 so I can't agree with you there. Also, along with the filter, other effects such as the echo and reverb on the DJM-900NXS2 sound exactly like what one would hear in the world's biggest clubs. All the echos and reverbs I have sound like what you hear in typical pop music production on the radio - not a DJ at a club. I'd like to get the sound of the club in my music productions. Let me know if you know of a solution. I know the RMX effects units have a VST plugin that come with it but I would like the exact filter, EQ's and effects on the DJM-900NXS2 so, I'd like to know if they're the same before going that direction. Even if you can share with me a filter effect that you feel sounds as good or as authentic as the one found on the mixer, that would be good for now. Thank you.
Justin Nguyen Yep. I'd sure like the ability to automate those moves though! Shoot. This has to be a feature coming soon. I mean, they have a VST plugin for the RMX-1000 and 500 so... now I'm wondering if the effects on the RMX units are the same as on the mixer.
@Tom Magee Hi Tom. Thanks! Yeah, that's the one I use for now but it definitely doesn't sound like the filter on the DJM-900NXS2 does it? I found a couple options now that are ok but I think I'll just run the tracks I want filtered out to the mixer and back into the computer and use the time based Beat FX to get perfectly synced FX. I haven't tried it yet, but in theory it should work well and sound excellent. A lot of extra work though! I wish Pioneer would just make a plugin with these FX. I guess they just want people to buy their hardware mixers. I've written into the company. They don't have anything like it as of yet. They recommend the RMX iPad app for now - not exactly what I'm looking for either.
just the microphone input, you can see it at 45:15. Then I hooked the mixer up with my mac via usb (it sees it as a soundcard when you install the drivers)

useful vid, one question, when you're adjust the filter parameter etc in the beginning at 11mins, what is the song playing called?

Would you still recommend this system over the XDJ RX2? bit of a price difference but just interested in your thoughts.
personally, I think if I would buy it new, I would go for the XDJ. The extra functionality is so low (if any). But the price difference is huge
Thanks Dexter, I had my heart set on buying the Nxs2 system, but I think you are right about the RX2. Apart from not having 4 Channels, the Rx2 appears to have everything else and looks to be solid.
I think the XDJ is solid. Ow the numbers of channels is a good one to take into account.

can you connect an effect unit from the send into a regular channel so you can eq the effect?

so if you set on the mixer bpm to lets say 174, will every song you play on each cdj auto set to 174bpm?
No exactly the other way around.
The CDJ that is 'MASTER' (press master button on the CDJ) communicates its BPM to the other CDJ's and the DJM mixer
Is that what Giorgio Presioso dj uses ???
What software are you using in the beginning to manipulate the audio?
that are the pioneer drivers. you can download them from the pioneer site.

how do i connect an external eq to this mixer?

pro dj link connection (utp cable and hub).
You need to connect player 1 to fader 1. that is the condition.
and you have to enable the setting in the settings menu of the CDJ
how do you connect the microphone to the decks to record the audio into the microphone
