    I'm so impressed that Cassey didn't promote her Popflex line/PIIT program at the end even though she could have. All she asked was for people to check out her free workout calendars if they're looking for a change. I love how down to earth she is and just wants to promote fitness.

    Seeing the "I wish we had the old Ryan back" comments and feeling really sorry for Ryan... I genuinely do love his podcasts, even though they are hugely different from his older content. It feels real and more mature, and they talk about things that are so interesting if you care to listen. No matter what he does, he puts his heart into it and I'd prefer that he takes good care of his mind and body before anything else. Please do what you love, Ryan. I'm sure audiences will change and people will change, but you'll always have your niche in this online community.

    Ever since the thickness trend started becoming more popular, some people think its okay to shame skinny women now. The whole point is to accept ALL bodies. Not accept one body and shame the other. It’s stupid. That’s not body positivity.

    • @LuckyLittleLoki
      @LuckyLittleLoki 4 роки тому +24

      Yeah, my sisters and I got shamed for being starved to near death. Sadly, we were made fun of and still are for being "anorexic" and constantly felt uncomfortable when people refered to thinner girls as "skinny bitches" and shaming us for it. I wasnt anorexic. I was literally being starved during breaks and weekends. And now that im out of that, I look back and feel so sad about that, I never judged anyones body yet it was apparently okay to start doing this. Now im struggling because i tried putting on some weight as soon as I got out of that situation....i had gained 57 pounds in 2 months, which made me become overweight. Im now around average and back to close to where I was, but not underweight thanks to me slowing down after 4 years...but I'm not having as much hindged skin anymore :') Either way, id really appreciate it if skinny/slim people didnt get shamed too because some of us get shamed and then get shamed for being too fat now. ;-;

      Yeah it's disheartening to see ppl hate on fit ppl just because their fit.
      The Frank Sinatra song rings in my head " that's life..thats what all the ppl sayy, some ppl get their kicks stomping on a dream" it's pretty disgusting how if ur one that is fat and unhealthy it gives u right to constantly degrade a person that dedicated their life to fitness..
      It's wrong to shame someone for being fat if they can't change their metabolism for it..otherwise really there's no reason to be fat? Someone can fight me on this lol

  • @NecoLumi
    @NecoLumi 4 роки тому +2289

    The movement should never have been pro-fat, but instead anti-bullying. Bullying people for their weight for no reason is insane and cruel. However, that doesn't mean being obese is a good thing.

People didn't come here for big videos where people just talk without any jokes or any editing. That must have demotivated him. This was awesome. My two favorite long time youtubers in a podcast together! Cassey is definitely a competitive person, hahaha you can tell just by the way she spoke. But also she's seen a lot and clearly been wronged with all those mean comments for the challenge and also for a long time, so she's put up barriers and gotten stronger. I didn't realize it was a stereotypical asian growing up story until you pointed it out. Woah. She's really done a lot and risked it all, I didn't know she went to China right away after quitting her job in Boston. Anyways, super proud of where you all are now, keep on keeping on!

    Being overweight can look different for everybody and not everyone who is overweight is necessarily unhealthy BUT you have a lot of health risks especially people who are obese.
    I feel the same frustration as Casey regarding the HAES/Body positive movement. How can you say you are body positive, complain about prejudice against fat people but shame skinny people or even worse shame fat people who want to lose weight for their health 🤦🏻‍♀️. Health at every size should include EVERY SIZE.

    This episode was amazing. Hearing people who you look up to discussing these things you (still oftentimes) feel ashamed or embarrassed about, is like ‘yo even people you admire struggle’. I know it sounds really cliche but that feels like you’re not alone and stuff. Even if you rationally know you’re not on your own, the brain and ego are selfish or whatever so you end op feeling you’re the only one who feels they’re struggling with this stuff. Hearing it so directly discussed instead of like... quickly skimming over it or trying to avoid making yourself uncomfortable or others or purposefully making it tragic for the shockvalue, just candid and realistically... nice.
    I’m also no longer as bothered by it anymore but, like Ryan said, this mentality/habit stays with you for a long time if not forever. So to hear from people somewhat around the same place as you are feels sort of like ‘alright, it’s not some dirty secret. It’s not to discuss with every person everyday, but it’s okay to speak about it and not feel like you’ve irrevocably changed people’s opinions about you.’ Cause I still think all people in there discussing this are supercool, if not cooler.
    I sincerely hope nobody has to go through these sort of experiences. Preferably nobody has to mess with their own body like that (cause that sh*t somehow stays with you in your brain and body, very annoying). But it’s good to know that if you happen to be in that place, you can get out of it and come to yourself again.
    I don’t know... somehow makes me feel more courageous! Thanks for this episode!

    31:52 In fairness to our parents, I don't think it's just nonsense. They do it because they actually believe that being a doctor will make you rich, successful and happy. Of course, they're usually wrong but it's coming from a place of love 😉
