I actually had a similar expirience in an escape room a few years ago: the room theme was "Pirates Of The Caribbean" and I just happened to watch all four just days before. Not only that, but few of the riddles, including the final one, were based directly on important things in the movies, the one I remember the most being Davy Jones' chest key location, and when we encountered the riddle I didn't think twice and pulled it right under his tentacle beard.

I don't think that's true. Making your own puzzle is simple, you just have to think about something hard to guess. What's hard is guessing what another person, unrelated to us, thought about. Anyway, I miss his videos 😔

Recently I went to an escape room for the first time and I really thought that I'd be good at it. In reality, once we were locked inside, I grabbed a random object (a metal box with a hook attached to it) and wandered around the room while my friends solved the whole thing and I tried to understand what was going on. In the end they got stressed out because they couldn't find the last clue from anywhere before they realized that I had been carrying it around the whole time. So I was really bad at it but at the same time I kind of wasn't, right?
