It's amazing to think that Kanade, the bassist, just a little less than 2 years ago, at age 15, was one of the 6 semi-finalists to be the new bassist for Lovebites! So happy for her that she's now part of NEK¡
It's pronounced "ne-kee", it derived from the words "maneki neko" (fortune cat) and also "aneki" (big sister). The bass I think it's the main weapon of this band, although all other instruments are as fantastic. Kanade the bassist is the sweetest young girl ever, she replies all the messages she received in her X account. I just love this band. Next is 'REIGENGIRL', and then 'MAZE'. Thanks for this reaction, guys!!
I love this band, they sound so good. Kanade the bassist is pure awesome. She was one of the 6 finalists for the LOVEBITES bassist auditions. IIRC she was like 15 years old at that time. she's outstanding. Their entire sound is awesome. I think you'll love their EP. the song MAZE is my personal fav, there is an MV for that. You should also check out the new album from BRIDEAR (BORN AGAIN, the still burning MV is outstanding if you love drums that punch you in the face all song) and the latest MV from the rebirth of HAGANE should not be missed either...outstanding new music, I feel so spoiled this year. especially recently. with new Band-Maid in Sept. even though we know some of it already. I am still hopeful for at least one or two more rock to be waiting for us. Good to see y'all again, my fellow jersey boy Sam. get on the BRIDEAR and HAGANE I think you'll be happy!
100% this. The new Bridear album is awesome. And the Hagane EP is amazing, too. And check out the new East of Eden Video. Damn, what a year (and a new Band-Maid album soon 🥰)
Love this song and band! Their sound is awesome and so looking forward to more from this band. The bassist, well you know. The talent these musicians have at such a young age is insane.
I just watched them live last week from the front row in Tokyo with a group of BandMaid fans! They're pretty solid considering they've only done about fifteen 30mins performances since they debut in March. I ended up getting 5 copies of their latest EP. Will be watching another show in late August, I think this a band to really keep an eye on 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Great insights guys. Others have corrected your pronunciation, but aside from that I thought it was one of your best reactions, bringing out why the music is so distinctive. Definitely a band Band-Maid fans are watching (also Lovebites fans, as the bassist made it to the final audition to replace Miho).
This bassist was one of the only 6 people to make it to the presential phase of the Lovebites auditions two years ago. She was only 15 and had just started high school, but I wonder what would have happened if she had not been this young.
NEK! covered a Band-maid song. There is a video of it somewhere. But man, are they fun for a new and growing band. It's going to be fun watching their progress!
Great reaction to a great new/young band. Just recently got back from Japan. Caught the Band-Maid show in Kanagawa on Sunday night, and the next night, Nek! was in a small club, "Sunrize", with 4 other bands. They rock live. Others have already mentioned the correction on how to pronounce the band's name. Kanade on bass is wicked good. I can see why she was a finalist for the bass position of Lovebites. To me, she definitely sets the foundation of the music. Cocoro on drums is awesome! And is often smiling, which makes me think of Akane. Hika on vocals and rhythm guitar is solid and Natsu on lead guitar, is also very good, although that night, I did feel she was too far back in the mix and wasn't allowed to shine through as much as the rest of the band. They are definitely a up and coming band to watch. When they do make it big, I can say I saw them in a little club in Japan and got to see them up close (second row) where they are literally an arms length away from you. They are also very nice when we went to buy merch after the show. There were a bunch of us from the Band-Maid fandom who were there and they were excited/happy when seeing a whole bunch of us in Band-Maid shirts. They have posted their cover of Band-Maid's "Choose Me" on their YT shorts from one of their live shows, and other shorts featuring Band-Maid covers. Check out "The link between Band-Maid and Nek!" on Ohrenje's channel. It's quite interesting. 🤘😆🤘
The little sisters of Band Maid. Very promising. I'm looking forward to hear their progress because I have the impression that they are still in this first phase where they are securing an audience without taking too much musical risks. But there is serious potential considering the talent of these young ladies.
nek! (NEKI) continues to increase the number of customers day by day at Japan's small live house, a special place where bands can perform every month, and their first one-man show sold out immediately. This is also a small live house, and although the music is outsourced, I think it will continue to grow.
And the position of a bass player in a band is the most prestigious for the Japanese)) They love bass players, there is even an anime series about the career of a bass player in a band from school to the big stage
Every time I listen to these girls, it reminds me of a blend of Girlfriend and Mutant Monster... two great female bands that are no longer with us.😔 Anyway... a really cool new band.😆👍
Hika the singer/ rythme guitare rewind me Asaka from Trident for the singing and guitare style is more Miku . Natsu the lead guitare for me is a little Kanami. Kanade ( 17 years) remind me Koga from Gacharic Spin/ Doll$Boxx. Cocoro Drums skills is between Nagisa from Trident and Rina from SCANDAL. ❤ at first seen. NEK! future Rockstars. 🎙️🥁🪕🎸🇯🇵
🔥🔥🔥 Followed them from debut by chance, never looked back since... By the way, East of Eden dropped Crossroads recently, hope you'll check some more of them 😊
This band is one to watch for sure. They're starting off where a lot of bands I like were at after they had been bands for around 5 years already. The bassist's way of playing reminds me a lot of F. Choppa Koga from Gacharic spin. Heck, every member seems like they could be from other more popular bands. I just can't place any of the other members except Koga really.
The great thing about Japanese and Korean bands is, along the vein of what you said, they're all pretty much different from each other, with their own signature sound, even though they all play "rock music". Unlike Western bands where a lot of the bands sound alike.
The group name is pronounced "neck-ee". I think these young ladies are all still teenagers. The bassist Kanade was apparently a favorite during the Lovebites auditions for a new bass player after Miho left, but I think they thought she was too young. I like their sound.
No they didn't sign to the same label than Band-Maid, they are still an independent band. They presently have an external composer and I can't wait to hear their first compositions.
A new artist I wanted to recommend for you to listen to is Yorushika. I recommend starting with “Flower And Badger Game” and “Spring Thief” from Live Previous Life. Just type it like that in the UA-cam search. Seriously, it's quite an experience to hear this.
How good is the bassist Kanade? Lovebites had her under consideration as a 15 yr old. She's got some Fami & F Chopper Koga in her. Would be a good opener for Band-Maid or maybe Nemophila. They definitely deserve exposure.
Not a bad way for such a young group to hit the scene. :) With full force. 🔥🤘🏻 Nek! are definitely a name we'll be hearing a lot more of in the coming years and one to keep on the radar. _____________________ _"America invented rock. Imagine how good this band will be when they graduate high school next year and can really focus on making music.
Only one of them is still in Highschool.
They are 23, 21, 20, and 17 years old.
@@DeanF_MIDI sooo… I’m right. Got it. Thanks Dean.
@@bryandevito5120 No, you aren't. You imply all of them a high school age when in fact only one of them is.

They did do a cover of a Band Maid song. They are very good and remind me of The Maids and Trident. Certainly a band to keep eyes and ears on.
