I Had a ss and hired an sv6 while on holidays, impressed with how the V6 went, plenty of power, also used noticably less juice than the v8.
yeah just not as much power up the hills
Travis Chaffey they have plenty of power up hill my dad used to leave for dead going up hill when we were towing our caravans I was in a LS1 245 kw and I had a smaller van they have plenty of power to go uphill

+D800Lover yes, the bigger the rims, the more harsh ride you get
and less room to fit the tyre which means a lower profile tyre

What's the engine like? Does it feel torquey? Not compared to a V8 but enough to have some fun on the windeys? I'm looking at VE sportswagons and decent SS's are like 8k more.
when normally driving on the road its a bit quiet, but if you rev hard e.g when the lights go from red to green at the lights it sounds like any beautiful commodore... I havnt heard my car from what it sounds from the outside when i rev hard, but this video makes it seems like its so loud! But yeah go for a v8 if you dont care about fuel consumption; i would of went for a v8 definitively if it wasnt for the price and petrol... still happy buying my VF2015 commodore for 29k with only 29k mileage. She looks beautiful with the VF body :)
The ve SS Sportwagons are going for 17 to 20k, but I can get a low km series II SV6 for 13k, maybe even the odd VF. I want the V8 but its a lot more money, decisions decisions.

bit of a noob question comment!! but I have the 2013 model and for the life of me taking off is a pain in the ass. I have to take off like a grandma, or it stalls. 3 quarters of the clutch dont do anything. and the last quarter pops out and stalls :@ any tips lol
try to slowly release the clutch while still pressing the break peddle, once you feel or hear the car start to bog a little, then thats the engagement point. For me, when i was practicing it, i just let the clutch slip a bit. The car moves without stuttering or kill itself. The onyl problem with this method is it will go through your clutch much quicker. But once you get the hang of it, you will instinctively drive without riding the clutch too often... I taught my friend this method and he learnt how to drive properly in 2 hours... he said once he got used to the engagement point, its like second nature and he releases it perfectly without even having to think about it! By the time i have seen this, you have probably become a good manual driver...

why is there almost a second diff in performance?
Strangely enough the VF V6 Calais they tested did 0-100 in 6.2
its all within margin of error, my g6e did 6.2 seconds to 100 on a flat road then i did it on the same road and got 7 seconds. In the test on this page it got 7.3 there are too many variables and it depends on how well you launch the car.
And that fact the that ute is quite a bit lighter than the sedan helps

Bought an VF SV6. The square screen in the centre between the two round dials, it says "ECO" in the top right corner. In the video above you can just make out the "E" in "ECO" at 2:22 .
From left to right, you can see "road" in white highlight, then the outline of a car and finally that "E" for "ECO".
I have looked through the manual and can make no sense of it. Is it a driving mode that saves fuel and how does one turn it on and off.
Any of you VF SV6 owners out there, can you help?

What's it weigh? Not much (if any faster) than my 1800kg, auto, 4wd, 3.5l, 11 year old Nissan Stagea
Yeah these are like 1650-1700kg.
Wow 210kw. That's more than a FGX NA Barra which is 195kw. But the XR6T is much faster and we know how difficult it is to add extra power to a V6.
210kw is on 98 octane. 195kw on the falcon is for 91. On 98 its the same power but a huge amount more torque.

lsd skips. my vz ex pursuity does that. my vl has better highway cruising power for some reason. rebuilt and cammed etc the vl. speed limiter i want to test in the ex unmarked vz

too bad they don't have an SV6 Turbo...
SV6 turbo would be cool though. Shame Holden didn't put it in the Commodore. They did produce turbo SIDI V6s at the Holden Fisherman Bend factory though, but it was put in the Insignia as the 2.8L. The 2.8L in the Insignia is the same as the Evoke's 3.0L just altered for boost.
You can always turbo one yourself.
But you could fit a Powerdyne or Vortex supercharger on it 😆
Lol yeah I'm running twin 70s through gas on my ute 8.8sec in a quarter just not street legal yet.look they come out the shop with 210kw that's just shy of a stock 8. I don't think they need a turbo for the streets lol, but they did miss out on a great investment there. So I'm a Ford Cortina type of guy, but we must appreciate power, especially if it's Aussie made. Must say they still sound like shit

dukeriluo Also I'm going to guess your fiesta is an automatic, this is a manual. Manuals are a lot slower in 0-100 times on big cars
ReaLzEdits No six speed manual. It is just the size of the car and the hp are a perfect match for it. Mostly this is why I got the tiny thing because it was engineered/ balanced very well.
***** From what I have seen now in more modern cars the 0-100 times are just quicker, take the VF GTS which in pretty much every test the automatics 0-100 is quicker. And I have raced my mates manual vz against my automatic one and there has never been a time where he has had the lead. Thats just my two cents though I guess :/ I'm sure there are heaps of variables though but yeah
