I was the main video camera man. My angle is the one that shows Billy diving. There were literally no women at this show. I didn't get paid but, it's okay because I got to be a part of metal history with this show and VHS / DVD home video release.
How can you be a fan of metal and NOT know of S.O.D.??? This was in my portable CD player from the day it was released for a year straight!!! I wore out this VHS tape of this show!!!! Greatest fucking band EVER!!! Charlie Benante(drums), Scott Ian(guitar), Billy fucking Milano(vocals), and Danny Lilker(bass).......💀🤘💀🤘👊🤔👊
Love these guys. S.O.D. was a thrash/hardcore punk side project of guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante from Anthrax along with former Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker and with Billy Milano on vocals. Never got to see them live, but I did see M.O.D. live once, Milano's band after S.O.D. disbanded.
("Ha, Ha!") I can't believe that somebody actually requested the Stormtroopers of Death! (S.O D.) My favorite track from their "Speak English or Die" L P. performed "Live". Priceless reaction, You two‼️🤘
It’s a total killer song🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 M.O.D. Brings back the tape deck phase listening loudly in my car with my friends smoking weed of course. The middle of True Colors mosh part is way killer. Try to not headbang to that 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Just a little note: the band is called S.O.D. meaning Stormtroopers Of Death. "March Of The S.O.D." and "Sergeant D And The S.O.D." are both names of their songs - initial songs from their album "Speak English Or Die"!!
Been requesting Stormtroopers Of Death for a long time. How do you not recognize Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax? Bassist is Dan Lilker, original Anthrax bassist. This is a parody band btw, don't take anything seriously.
Saw them at The Ritz in NYC with Morbid Angel. It was in March, I was with a buddy of mine who was in wheelchair. We were waiting outside to get in, however it was really cold, so we talked to the doorman to let my buddy inside as he was paralyzed from the waist down and would not be able to feel if he was getting frost bite, so they let us in. Never checked our tickets, (I still have the full ticket). Ran into Billy Milano at the merch table had a great convo with him and the concert was insane! MTV was there and filmed the whole concert. I think this was the concert because Billy did that stage dive from the stack at the concert I was at.
Throwback thursday...jesus fucking christ this is a fucking nice riff!!! I worshiped s.o.d and anthrax as a kid. Guys were ahead of their time in 1986. When he comes back up on the stage he beats the crap oyt of one guy with the mic..u can even hear the pat pat pat 😂
Extreme kudos for reacting to an S.O.D. video. Sooooomehow, The Wolf HunterZ seem to have not a clue who S.O.D. were, though ... That's a hard pill to swallow for an 80s thrash dude like me.
No, thats basically how we did it back inna day. Shit like that (and even crazier shit) happened all the time. Guys left festivals with broken bones and we’re back in the pit the nxt day, cast and all…
Wild to think that this was just supposed to be a one-off because the boys from Anthrax just wanted to play with their old bassist again, and it got so big that the rest of Anthrax made them stop because it was threatening the success of their "real" band. They were one of the first metal bands to dive headfirst into hardcore punk and not just take a stylistic inspiration from it, and they influenced quite a few who followed.
Yeahhhhhhh?Sgt. D. is coming and your on his list!!!!!! We would pump ourselves up to this song whenever we would go across town to fight the enemy We would be oblivious to the punishment we were receiving until the following morming. Thanks for the memories guys 👍👍👍👍.
Apparently have never watched the Headbangers Ball! Such a shame. They would have loved it. I couldn't wait for Saturday nights and watching all the baddest bands. RIP Headbangers Ball!
I just requested a song by them last week, great to see!. I used to take their cassette to class in high school. Saw Anthrax in 87". SOD was scary/funny. Their song "Milk" is hilarious...
I know I'm a year late but I haven't seen anyone else say it. The band is called S.O.D(Stormtroopers of Death) and the video you watched is 2 songs. 1. March of the SOD(an instrumental) and 2. Sargent D and the SOD. If you're old enough to remember, MTV's Headbangers Ball (the original) used to use March of the SOD as the intro!
LMFAO....Late 80's and early 90's Metal shows did not phuck 'round...They were glorious!! Nothing like shows today where everyone has their phones out recording...People actually participated!!!
Maybe I’m showing my age, but this was relatively typical metal/punk shows in the early 90s. Fun as hell! High energy mosh pit, probably get an elbow in the face or injured in some way not unlikely, but it was always in good fun. Last time I moshed was at a Tyr show in my forties and made it my last. This SOD clip is from the Budokan show that is really a piece of metal history and is well worth your time to watch!
Old school moshers like Billy have seen and done it all - this was actually a punk rock thing - stack diving. He's easily 250 also, so good on the crowd to catch him. 🤘
complete insanity....I'll always love this...surely one of the greatest metal riffs of all time.....the fact that he made it back out of that pit to complete the last verse is miraculous...wtf...you won't see anything like this at a show now...liability too high...
Billy Milano kicks ass. He is a staple of New York Hardcore - and there’s so many other NYHC bands that formed and influenced many bands after. SOD was just one of those bands!
S.O.D. was kind of a Side Project by members of Anthrax, M.O.D.,and Nuclear Assault. Scott Ian (guitar) and Charlie Benante (drums) from Anthrax. Billy Milano from M.O.D. And Dan Lilker (bass) from Nuclear Assault, but was Anthrax's original bassist. This particular song was the original theme song to MTV's Headbangers Ball. It was later replaced by a song by Prong called "Beg to Differ" (I think). Prong was groovy Industrial Thrash Metal.
There's supposedly a bootleg vhs of sepultura that circulated in 90s were a fan did the same speaker dive and nobody caught him. The guy was getting stretched off and the band stopped playing and in broken English went on to say how much they enjoyed what just happened because they like destruction and death. I've never seen it but people I believe said they had
I stage dived atansecret death angel gig in the marquee in London. Only a handful of people knew who the band were . I got up on the stage. Took a running dive. Straight over the two rows of fans and landed hand first in front of a tall biker guy. Broke two fingers on my right hand.
back in those days that kind of monitor diving wasn't an uncommon thing at these shows. I saw it happen quite often back then. I seen a guy dive off a monitor about 10 ft higher than the one Billy dove off of and he got injured. haha. not many tried to catch him.
You didn't recognize Scott Ian on guitar? One of the most recognizable guitarists in metal? Or Danny on bass? How have metal heads not heard of SOD? That is an awesome performance, though.
Welcome to the 80's...the GLORY DAYS of metal..😈🤘🤘
Dude, S.O.D. etc where not metal, you can consider this style as a branch of punk rock, Hardcore Punk, etc
I was the main video camera man. My angle is the one that shows Billy diving. There were literally no women at this show. I didn't get paid but, it's okay because I got to be a part of metal history with this show and VHS / DVD home video release.
Hey man! I still have the original VHS!
wow very cool
I've watched this concert video a billion times..
Dude
This is a classic! Amazing video
I'm 53 and the live gigs in the 80s were just crazy.
You Damn Straight Brother 😎
53 here too
S.O.D is still the Bomb ✌️
Ditto - S.O.D. was something that should have become bigger...
Ditto. I'm 54.
They were! This was in 1994 though.
those shows at the Ritz were pure mayhem, this shit could not happen these days. also no love for danny lilker?
"The guitar player" "that guy was marchin" that IS SCOTT IAN. ANTHRAX YALL
Scott Ian on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums from Anthrax...Danny Lilker (ex Anthrax and Nuclear Assault) on bass...Billy Milano on vocals
What a fucking line up :)
@@deadlyredly1 Yep what could possibly go wrong ??? Nothing !
Danny el mejor bajista del thrash
Thankyou Wolf hunterZ, that made my fucking day :)
and Lilker played also in "Brutal Truth"
I love when they said "That guy"lol. It's friggin Scott f'kn Ian.
Right. They're saying..."the guitarist is marching". Fuck....yeah. Its Scott fuckin' Ian.
The 80's thrash scene was the best. Loved growing up in it.
@@infinitywealthcoachingllc2700 its easy if your idea of metal is poison and motley crew.
Uhh like Headbangers Ball? How can you not know and review music? FAIL!
That's fucking METAL!!!!!
Billy “Fuckin’” Milano! Exactly.
Exactly my thoughts. Scott Ian is Scott Ian. Not "guitar player"
Oh God, Those days were great!!!, The early mosh crowds were the best, before everyone starting doing it.
Billy Milano. He's a badass. S.O.D. rocks
It's not just a riff.
It's THE riff.
Love these guys. S.O.D. was a thrash/hardcore punk side project of guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante from Anthrax along with former Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker and with Billy Milano on vocals. Never got to see them live, but I did see M.O.D. live once, Milano's band after S.O.D. disbanded.
I was lucky enough to see both SOD and MOD live... Two of the craziest live shows I've ever been to.
Wasn't Dan Lilker in Nuclear Assault?
@@vovindequasahi Yes, he was.
i did in seattle and it was riddled with fights but i had a great time.
S.O.D, the band that turned me into the metal head I am today 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻for the time this was the best and fastest🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Likewise...I was H/C!!! hated metal...then a friend gave me this to listen to......game changer.
I was at this show. Agnostic front played before SOD. 1992 sick show!!!!
I was there also it was at the Ritz
@@keithzatkalik5805 yes it was. Sick fuckin night!!!! Lol
Don't forget Morbid Angel opened up the show. One of the best concerts I ever been to.
@@nelsonhughes4614 Agnostic Front, Morbid Angel and SOD the same night? Incredible.

it's morning here and I want some milk!
This album is the blueprint for modern metal.
WElcome to the world of S.O.D gosh what memories it brings. all the way back to late 80's
I played drums way back when I loved playing the intro to 'True Colors' by MOD, you guys should check that video out.
It’s a total killer song🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Saw them live here in Boston and it was such a sick show. One of the best crossover bands EVER. My favorite actually, aside from D.R.I.
Just a little note: the band is called S.O.D. meaning Stormtroopers Of Death. "March Of The S.O.D." and "Sergeant D And The S.O.D." are both names of their songs - initial songs from their album "Speak English Or Die"!!
Can't beat 80's-90's Thrash or Hardcore. It's unbeatable.
Killer Riff, Scott Ian's the man oh-ohhhhh, the Milano flip, epic all around, the good ol days!
One of the best riffs ever!!
If this riff doesn't make you mosh, you ain't got an ounce of metal in your body \m/
My all time favorite S.O.D.performance and Wolfhunter reaction!!!
thank you
Yesss….welcome to 80’s NYC Hardcore!!!!
yes he was hitting the dude over the head with his microphone at 7:00
Metal fans were super dedicated back in those days
The theme to MTVs Headbanger's Ball. They had several songs. S.O.D.
Stormtroppers of Death!!!
Love this!! You're the first channel I've seen react to SOD. 🤘🤘 MTV used this song as intro for Headbangers Ball for many years.
Been requesting Stormtroopers Of Death for a long time.

Greatest stage diving ever!!! 7:00 when Billy hit that guy with his mic 3 times in the head🤣🤣🤣🤣
That stage-dive is a most punk-rock thing ever
I still have the original VHS of this as well as the cassette & CD! This is pure gold.
Best part is everyone probably paid 8.75 a ticket and got the best performance of their lives. Man I miss thoes days.
Speak English or Die was one of my favorite albums as a teen. Mosh it up!
Oh hell yeah!!!!! This is such a high school flashback. Omg. Sgt D is coming and you’re on his list
Those were the days. You needed to be young and alive back then... Glad i was! We didn't give a fuxx back then.
Live at Budukan! Billy dove like a champ!
Vio-lence,world in a world!!!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR SOMEONE TO SEND YOU THIS!!!

What an ICONIC band. React to more SOD, you won't be disappointed.
Yup. This is MY generation of metal! That big dude is Billy Milano. Check out his other band M.O.D. (Method of Destruction).
You witnessed one of my greatest daily listen through my teens and early 20s
Just imagine, your standing there looking up at Billy, and he jumps......
I was in a slayer gig in 1988, got up on the stage, stole one of jeff hannemans plectrums off his mic stand and launched myself into the audience..
Billy Milano like I said is the man and he is one person who I would want watching my back during a fight
Those were them days, you know. I miss those days!
Welcome to an ‘80’s Hardcore or Thrash show.
Billy Milano also had another band called MOD who had some absolute classic songs.
I miss this shite!! We razed hell back then!!
Hell ya. I loved this album.
I miss those days and the NYCH scene. Don't miss the violence though.
Billy Milano has always been a wild man. I became a die hard fan of SOD in the mid 80's. Their "Bigger than the Devil" album is a must have also
